  1. Hey Awsam, I'm glad this has worked out for you! Your perseverance paid off. Way to go! Quick question, could i get a copy of this update so Nissan North Shore, Auckland NZ can do this update for me ? Do you know how ? Cheers mate
  2. Roger that mate. Fingers crossed all will be fine.
  3. Hi Awesome, have you had this done already? I'm all ears!
  4. Hi princesng, Any update on the re-flash or change of ECU? Waiting to hear some positive news !
  5. That's awesome news! Looking forward to hear how it all goes mate.
  6. Yeah true. But according to Nissan this is a software issue and they wouldn't troubleshoot it...
  7. Heya princesng, With my car the problem is that the when the car is warm, meaning around 5-10 mins after starting the engine. If i accelerate slowly, from the 800+RPM mark, the car will hesitate at exactly the 1000rpm mark. This problem does not happen when: 1. the car is cold (immediately after cold start) 2. If you remove the connectors of the 2 cam retarders in the front of the engine (see previous posts). Doing this verifies that you have the same problem. Hope this explains..
  8. Look forward to your update on how the ECU update gets done. All the best!
  9. Cars just back from Nissan. This other branch seems to be very familiar with this problem. From their previous findings, this problem must be software as they have even replaced with a brand new engine on another Skyline v36 and the problem still persists. Put it point blank - THIS IS A NISSAN DESIGN ISSUE. They also sort of know that there is a software update that can solve this issue, but Nissan Japan won't release to NZ !! I have read that for the Infinity's in the USA - software update did solve it permanently. Btw, I have just tried the exhaust relearn procedure and this reduces this problem slightly. Anyone knows how to update software without Nissan's help? EXHAUST VALVE TIMING CONTROL LEARNING - Without CONSULT-III 1. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. 2. Set selector lever to N position (A/T) or neutral position (M/T) and confirm that following electrical or mechanical loads are not applied. - Headlamp switch is OFF - Air conditioner switch is OFF - Rear defogger switch is OFF - Steering wheel is in the straight-ahead position, etc. 3. Keep the engine speed between 1,800 and 2,000 rpm at 20 seconds.
  10. Apparently they think it is not a major job - but off course, seeing i believing, especially when it comes to Nissan.
  11. My cars symptoms - Does the hiccup at 1000+ rpm and when cruising and lightly accelerating. The test I did to verify that the problem was gone after removing the connectors. Shift to Drive (D) with brake pedal pressed. Then with brake pedal pressed, accelerate engine slightly pass the 1000rpm mark. This test has become my standard test for this problem. Also I don't think there should be great risk with the timing, but will update when Nissan tells me more.
  12. Guys - Major break through. Went back to my car dealer as Nissan was hesitant in diagnosing the car. They have very little knowledge about cars in my opinion. If the service manual doesn't state it, they don't know about it. No thinking out of the box. Anyway, enough of my rants. At the dealer's, we pulled out the Exhaust valve timing control magnet retarder' harness connectors - there are 2 right in the front of the engine. They are conencted to blue plastic holders. We then started the car with the plugs pull out. It ,runs a dream, swapped both front the covers with a 370GT but problem persists with the connectors re-plugged in. When connectors removed, problem vanishes again. Called a different Nissan branch, they said this will be a timing issue, they will remove timing chain and check for any expansion etc and redo timing - didn't say what. Will send to Nissan next Tuesday. See illustration of plugs here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxy5VF8M4iZ7X3ZiRDUtR2lrNXc/edit?usp=sharing So if you want to confirm if your problem is the same, unplug the connectors and check. But please remember - this is at your own risk. Cheers guys, will be very interested to hear how it went your end.
  13. Wonder if the issue is only on the 350GT or do the 250GT and the 370GT s have them as well?
  14. * I meant Spark Plugs in above post. Since the transmission fluid flush. I have been trying to see if the symptom occurs when in Neutral. I suspected that it wouldn't, but amazingly sometimes it does happen at the 1000rpm mark, but faintly. Does anyone else experience this ? Awsam, Ours are rear wheel drive only. Unless you have the 4WD light come on (along with the other lights) in the dash when the start button is pressed Has anyone tried checking/changing their spark plugs. They apparently die at around 100K km. Also read: http://forums.nicoclub.com/strange-hesitation-issue-t527428.html SteveTheTech is pointing to the timing covers.
  15. According to Nissans diagnostic graphs, the torque converter send to be slipping when the issue happens. Changed transmission fluid, but no improvement. They suspected te oil may have thinned. Question, had anyone tried changing our checked their soak plugs? Or had this been overlooked because it is hard to access ?
  16. Hmm..wonder what the problem really is, thanks for that info mate. My car is at Nissan as we speak. They are diagnosing the car. Just rang and they told me that they are sending the diagnostics data to Nissan Japan for a review of the issue. Will post developments.
  17. Bad news! The problem is back. I'm going back to the dealer today for a full diagnostics. See what he finds. Also, I noticed that my car stutters at around the 1000rpm mark only and when taking of slowly only. Do you guys experience the same?
  18. Further update. The recurrence according to my mechanic/dealer is most probably due to the fact that I have changed my Air filters (2X), which were filthy from Japan. I got new ones from Nissan. This might have increased the airflow causing more learnings required by ECU. So we reset the Fuel learned values, gearbox learned values and all other learned values in the same page. Then I took the car for a long drive. The only advice he gave was to try and accelerate hard ..wasn't hard to do. Anyway, I think the problem is gone now. Don't feel it anymore, will post if it recurs.
  19. Heya Awsam. I read your post with great interest as my 2007 V36 also does the same. I have just purchased it from a car importer. Did replacing the B2 02 help? On my car, the dealer reset the Japanese fuel values in the ECU via the diagnostic tool and the problem went away. It stopped doing it while driving and when taking off slowly. But alas after 1 week, the problem has reoccurred. I will go back to him and get it rechecked. Will let you know how it goes. Cheers.
