  1. Ouch! Emery paper is dark red/brown in colour and has a cloth backing. It wont impregnate glass grit into the disc/pads which is not a good idea. We've tried the advance on a few cars an they are very good. Some people prefer them to ultimates, but it depends on your driving style. Ultimates are good for foot stompers and Advance are good for engine brakers (down shifters). The advance doesn't make as much dust either.
  2. Sounds like a dust build up or glazing. If the pads still have plenty of life in them you can rub the surface back on some emery paper to remove the glaze and they should be sweet. Rough up the surface of the disc a little too. This will let the pad and disc bed in on a fresh surface. 80 grit emery paper sheet costs about $1.50 from BBC/Bunnings hardware. If you look closely at the picture I posted of that GTR disc you'll see the surface has been roughed up with this paper. Another pad worth looking at for the street is Lucas (U.K). They are about the same price as Bendix Standards and work very well. Bendix Standard is being replaced by Advance which is a better product as well.
  3. We dont have a number yet for the 296mm x 30mm R33 GTST. I expect to have something next week. I would say the disc will be in stock Jan 2003 as we already have a casting for it.
  4. Yeh! The part number is DBA 953, but it hasn't been manufactured yet. This one that we are working on in Dec/Jan. The Catalogue on the website now is for 2003 so there are a few numbers listed that are not stocked yet. Its very similar to the DBA 909 so I would expect the price to be close to that.
  5. What is done - GTR range Brembo and Standard Nissan + One GTS R33 which uses the 296mm x 32mm front. What is in progress - GTST R33 296mm x 30mm + GTST4 280mm x 26mm. The Club Spec discs are designed for Carbon race pads and high heat loads. We haven't released these yet. The 5000 series two piece rotors are like the Club Spec but with Aluminium hats for weight reduction and extra stability. We haven't released these yet. The Ferodo DS3000 are excellent for track only use. For street it depends on how you drive and how much you want to spend. Bendix Metal Kings, Advance, Ultimates, Lucas pads, Race Brakes pads, Ferodo DS2000/DS2500, Mintex 1155 (if you can get them). These pads can be used on plain discs no problem.
  6. Yes they are K/Paw The new DBA 908 (KPaw) is due to be cast this week. It should be available by the end of the month. The DBA 926 is in stock.
  7. Are your discs the 296mm x 32mm, 296mm x 30mm, or the 310mm x 30mm. If someone is quoting part numbers I suspect it would be a DBA 926 which is in stock.
  8. $1400  Cross drilled rotor are excellent for that one off heavy braking situation. If you find yourself braking hard repeatedly then slotted discs are more suitable.
  9. I get in trouble for this all the time. Because I use these forums to get information on upcoming projects you guys know about new products before marketing. We are still working on the GTS series so additions will be made over the next few months. We did the GTR first because of overseas demand. I know a link has been set up for a Skyline specific page on the website but I don't believe the information has been compiled yet. If you go to the WRX page you'll see the format we will use. whether or not to go with slotted rotors depends on the type of driving you do.
  10. 70 new part numbers this year my friend and another 50 being assessed. This takes time even at 15 hours a day. If you would like to order 100 to 1000 rotors I can move it forward otherwise its a Christmas job for me. We missed our window of oportunity earlier this year, so this is the next one..
  11. We are still working on this one. We have found 3 different front rotors so far for this model. 1. 296mm x 32mm = DBA 926 2. 296mm x 30mm = ? 3. 310mm x 30mm = ? We have samples but we have not alocated numbers to the last 2 yet. We need to confirm model specs for each part. The rear is the DBA 908.
  12. The DBA 908 rear is available but we apparently dont keep enough stock. They are due to be cast again this week and hopfully be in stock at the end of the month.
  13. Sorry, I don't get involved with pricing. Last time I made an estimate the distributors got a little upset.
  14. Yes they are! There will be a two piece version available soon too. Prototypes are sitting on my desk. I would look into better pads too. Ferodo DS 2500 or DS 3000.
  15. A larger diameter disc = greater brake torque Larger disc mass = better heat capacity Larger surface area pad = longer pad life It depends on what improvements you are looking for.
  16. Your on the ball mate. Has anyone used DS 3000 pads?
  17. You are exactly right. These are some of the tweaks that can be done. Its not recommended to slot a standard street rotor to the outside edge because of the increased risk of cracking. Discs using modified material can be slotted to the outside as per the picture I posted.
  18. Yes, thats one of them. They were running Carbotech XP pads from the U.S. These carbon pads are very good for the track but would eat standard rotors.
  19. You don't see these DBA rotors at the corner store.
  20. Thanks, I've heard these comments about our rotors on the track a few times and it is a fair statement regarding our rotors on some cars. Basically they are designed for for street use and can only handle street generated temperatures. What we have been developing for the past few years is a track orientated rotor for street cars (Club Spec). There are a few cars in the upcoming Bathurst 24 hour race using these discs and certain cars have been using them for the last 2 to 3 years. We are only just starting on the Skylines for this class of rotor and this is the main reason I've jumped on this forum. We have a few GTR (Club Spec) rotors for trials in Japan and it sounds like we need to do a few GTS ones as well.
  21. Hmmm! Uprated discs This what I do. Thursday 21st right? What time in the afternoon? R33 GTS-T Rotors = DBA 926 (296mm x 32mm)? (or the other GTS-T 310mm) Pad part number = DB ???? I know of a few solutions for this problem. Please confirm the part numbers and I will see what we can do. I would like to come out to Eastern Creek and have a look. Thanks
