Basically the GTR Sumps where designed badly for race track use, it relates to the placement of the front differential. On a race track, the costant excessive cornering, can (and usually this is just a matter of time) cause oil starvation on an unbaffled GTR engine. Basically the oil in the sump sloshes around, and for some time period, there is a HUGE danger that the oil pickup will not pickup any oil.. this combined with the usually high RPM's, causes instant death to your engine.. (and a $6k+ rebuild ) remember, @6000rpm, that equals 100rpm's per second, just 2 seconds of lack of oil can mean 200 revolutions of no lubrication i am not being alarmist either, it seems to be the case that if you run an unbaffled GTR on the track, you are playing russian roulette, some GTR's can blow on the 1st or 2nd lap (usually when you start taking the corners with gusto ) or you may get through unharmed (but it always seems to be a matter of time!) basically the only proper solution is to install a oil sump baffle, in combonation with a tomei oil restrictor to the oil gallery in the head, to ensure proper oil flow.. do a search here on SAU for GTR and sump Baffle.. you will read many many horror stories... scary stuff! People seem to think that just because the GTR is an awesome road car, it was built specifically to race on the track, this is not the case!

apparently there were 98 LM's produced in Championship blue (i think that is R33), so it has to be more than that!
-
umm..... no!? for $200 i would rather use it as a hat!
-
hi, it is actually going into a friends 200sx, though i can't imagine it would be too dissimilar. looking to work out how to connect it, both electrically and vaccum wise.. i had heard that the US greddy instructions where wrong.. thanks guys! appreciate the very quick response!
-
Does anyone have a copy of the Greddy Profec A installation guide? most importantly i need to know the electrical wire connections, but vacuum line diagram would also help thanks Kent
-
wow really? i thought that the UK deal was more of a dealer type arrangement rather than having a specific series of cars built for them! that is pretty cool! (making them more rear than N1's )

GTR inserts (front bar)
YO880 replied to dabigbolf's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
if they are the N1 inserts for an R33 i will take them pm me thanks -
Hi Guys, i am selling a JUN oil pan baffle plate. new, never used, still in the JUN box. Bought this a while back from Merli, but never got around to installing it. $500

if you think about it  , it wouldn't and shouldn't be legal, if you hit a little kid or anybody for that matter, they have more of a chance of surviving when hitting plastic and being directed away (be it up or sideways), rather than hitting your nice shiny intercooler and being collected by it probably being mashed up very very badly in the process..

troyone told me that he will let you tell us!

nope, nobody does, now you can tell us!!! i am dying to know! :chop:

External / Internal fuel pump differences?
YO880 replied to YO880's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
relay is a type of electrical switch, that allows you to use a low current (such as an overloaded wire) to switch on another circuit (ie. high current fuel pump). i assume you would run the relay off the existing fuel pump power wire (in parrallel) check out any automotive or electrical shop, the relay circuit picture will be drawn on the relay, use that to figure out which goes where.. if you can't figure it out, probably best to see an auto-electrician. hope that helps. -
External / Internal fuel pump differences?
YO880 replied to YO880's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thanks SK, much appreciated! -
Hi Guys, what are the differences between an Internal and External fuel pump? i have a GTR pump that i want to use as an external fuel pump (running off a surge tank), any ideas if this is easily done? thanks Kent
-
600hp, i have heard that the rear wipers were optional, i assume the majority came with them, but you must have been unlucky
-
the car weights 1170kg according to the old rego papers, which would allow us 4.6L though i think the RB30 would be fine for me!!! sent you a pm, re the fax number, thanks for that!
-
Burto, what are all the differences between the N1's and the Vspec/Non-vspec and also what sort of format is the VIN in?
-
VL-turbo-rb20 so that was an RB20 into a VL conversion? what ecu you did you use, the stock RB20 item, or an aftermarket one? thanks Kent
-
nope not yet, hopefully i will get a chance next weekend to head over to the engineers let me know what your phone calls reveal!
-
autech or nismo R33? though i would think that they would have to keep the same VIN as the standard car (though i guess they could be classed as car manufacturers as is HSV) look forward to finding out
-
that doesn't sound like anything to me?!! i doubt the N1 VIN would be too far off the BNCR33 not sure what it would be though.. anyone?
-
S3 has red trim behind the perforations on the doors as well (S2,S1 has blue) S3 has N1 holes in the front bumper i think S3 may also have the bonnet diffuser (?) then of course there is the differences in GTR's and GTR V-Spec's across all series. ATTESA pro (rear fins on the rear differential) lower suspension oh, then there is the N1 versions they have no A/C or Stereo, bigger turbo's, oil cooler, diff cooler (?), N1 slots in bumper

Looking for Zoom magazine's numbers 5 (DEC/JAN 97), 4 (OCT/NOV 96) and 7+ looking particularly for the multi part articles on "Project Skyline" (an RB20DET build up on the C210 skyline). i am not sure what edition it finishes on, but anyone knows, i would love to get my hands on all of it! (scanned would be fantastic!) Thanks guys, please pm me if you have any of the above, or further relevent copies

sent you a personal message (PM), you should get a dialogue box next time you login, to tell you.. i too would love a copy of the disk

Hi Ray, welcome to SAU! good to see some more C110 owners joining up! i have been doing a bit of research into putting RB25's into the C110 (as that is my plan for my GTR replica), from what i have read (there is bits about it in the thread about the RB30 bottom end conversion in this thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=15420) but i have to warn you it is a very long thread!!! try looking at one of the members, joels signature, look at the pfd document he has created, it discusses it a little in there. you need to do some extensive work to get the RB20 head to fit onto the RB30 bottom end, the RB25 head fits up to the rb30 bottom with very minimal modification (R32 RB25DE needs none, R33 RB25DE with VCT needs mods to the VCT oil feed).. so therefore you would need to do some extensive work to get the rb25 head onto the rb20 bottom..(i think the water and oil galleries do not line up) is there a reason you want to go with the RB25 head? the only thing i can think of is the larger inlet/exhaust ports.. but it would be damn expensive (just in the mods alone, let alone the cost of the head) just to do it for that, maybe goto an RB25 bottom too (though it sort of subtracts from the whole GTR thing) as for the tuned headers, try placing an add in the wanted section, you might get lucky! would love to see some pics of your car, especially the engine bay!! did you do the conversion yourself? Kent
