  1. lol Yes i have a laptop and have datalogit as well. What if you have 2 maps, one is a race tune map for c16 and one is a 98 octane map, you fill up at a servo and find your engine is knocking its head off.. ahhh bad batch of fuel mate.. You can't exactly switch it to the race tune map can you ? As much as it is cool to drive around everywhere with the laptop plugged in.. not... its good to be able to get into the maps and change them on the fly for the conditions. Yes I am a Apexi PFC lover but I must say I wont keep it if something comes up that is better and does what I need it to do.
  2. Hand controller available ? if so can you monitor everything with the h/c and comeplety tune the ecu using the hand controller? If it dont have that kind of functionality like the PFC I will be keeping my PFC.
  3. I still think every engine is different. Some engines wont make more torque or power if you feed 10deg of timing and some wont knock either. you cant just say RB's do this and do that. just wont happen.
  4. its hard to drive my car on lower boost withous causing massive compressor surge, sounds like a rocket apparently... and not good for the turbo

  6. there is no way to know how much timing a engine can take by just looking at it. every engine is different.
  7. try getting paid monthly guys... you got nothing to worry about.. 11 days till pay day.
  8. I dont know why you would rebuild a motor to do something a standard one can do. At the very most i would just put new rings and bearings into your engine to just give it a freshen up but this would be much more costly then getting another engine and chucking it in. Also use proper oil. Motol 300v will see the engine does not do another bearing.
  9. Hey dude I know this is going to suck but It looks like your timing is out. ( *edit* your confusing the cam timing to the ignition timing, your cam timing seems to be out) When the top 2 are set on the marks the harmonic balancer should be on the first or second line. I cant remember for sure but i am pretty sure yours is out unless something is up with the balancer or something. I remember mine being on the first line which is 5deg on your manual you posted. What your going to need to do is pull the harmonic balancer off and look at the COG... I stole this from GTAAHH's post of his bottom cog. (and edited it for you) You need to make sure the dot is on the mark on the oil pump. Look at pic here (open it) Edit 2 (made pic more visable) I have the front of my engine pulled appart at the moment because of a massive F OFF oil leak from what i think is the front seal. going to put it back together this weekend. If you cannot see the . on the cog, then you have it on the wrong way (the dot is facing the oil pump not harmonic balancer as it should be. It sucks cos you gotta pull out the radiator and the bottom cover and you MUST use a proper harmonic balancer puller, IF you use the one with the arms that grab on the outside of the balancer where the belts run THEN YOU WILL DESTROY your balancer. You must use the type that uses the M6 (or 5 cant remember now) bolts that screw into the balancer and you pull from there. You have been warned...   16. which dyno are you guys using? how much is it costing for the dyno for the day ? i have a couple of contacts that might help bring the price down ?
  17. i would pull the cooler out and pipes and keep cleaning them untill those 3 pieces are found. If they are not found you could break a engine one day

  19. too early in the power range for valve float.... I think its something simple. check cam timing... what kind of exaust / manifolds are you using ? what computer is that ? haltach or autronic or something? anyway post up the setup of your car and we might be able to help track the issue down. have you tried running the car on the dyno with the exaust dropped just before the cat? try that
  20. Honestly my oponion would be to buy a cheap rb25det that is in good condition and chuck it in and continue your voyage to 250rwkw. Keep in mind the stock bottom end still has another 50rwkw in headroom and is still considered safe hp for the engine. Dont waste your money rebuilding the engine. Buy another one for $1500 and sell your old one for $750 and your laughing. RB25 will do your 250rwkw standing on its head.

When you think about it, its easier to just whack the car on the dyno do a few power runs, chuck in a extra couple of deg timing and trim the fuel.. 4 or 5 runs and walllaaa your done. $350 later the customer has more power and is happy with their tuner. I have seen many many dodgy jobs make very very happy customers. its about the $$$ Back in the day i was one of those customers who were happy with his $200 tune.
