  1. my gt3540 lasted 3 years of flogging before compressor surge caught up to it and flogged the bearings. 25psi mind you It does slow down the life of the turbo but not by as much as people say it does
  2. Maybe you shouldnt. Maybe you should stop spinning your wheels in the wet to impress your mates. You drive a Skyline not a commondore!

  4. LOL another thing to note. Even if you park the car and drive it the next day and its not raining, it can take up to 30mins to a hour to clear up. I deal with this problem EVERY time it rains, sometimes on the freeway when going up a hill it will cut on really low load and i have to chug up the hill because it keeps cutting out.. but this only happened a few times and it was really comming down very hard. Your AFM / engine is fine, AFM's just dont like water, they are a hot wire remember ?
  5. ohhh and to add to this, the other day i had my datalogit plugged in and when it cuts it goes all the way to the bottom of the map and reads max voltage on no boost
  6. Bingo. AFM gets wet. and it will cut out. Mine does this ALL the time. There is nothing wrong with your AFM, its just when it gets wet it sends a high voltage to the ECU and the ECU cuts out the engine. It feels like your head is going to go through the windscreen its such a harsh cut. Mine does this all the time, and to be honest i never fixed it because once i was commin round a corner and no one was in sight, went to bring it onto boost to drift the corner, and bang.. CUT. 2 seconds later highway patroll comes around the corner... he woulda seen me full broadside. if my AFM cuts out then i shouldnt be hitting boost because i will be all over the road anyway!!

  8. its funny that everyone is running around complaining because they cannot find a power fc yet no one is interested in buying one when one is available or they whinge about price. Once you get a power fc you dont have to worry about computer again!! Put it on ebay for $1300 and it will sell the same day.
  9. yeah second hand gt3540's are worth anywhere from $900 to $1200, i picked up a brand new one for $1450 2 weeks ago. drop the price to 1200 and you should be able to get close to that price
  10. AHHHHH Im going through the same thing with my mates car.... Take the POD off and get a air box and also clean your AFM. there is a big chance it will richen it up. Try it. you must try a standard air box. let me know how it goes. do you have a air fuel ratio meter to test it ? where are you located? i had the same prob with my mates r33, we took the pod off (hks mushroom style) put the air box back in and it works a treat now. try it. if yours does the same thing then thats weird.... we need to find a fix for this. can u try a standard air box for me ? and clean the AFM ? clean it with contact cleaner and i have used brake cleaner before as well.

  13. Yeah its good i wreckon, i can feel the car feels much more free off boost, and it seems to make 5psi by 3300rpm and full boost 1bar by about 3800. I have not upped the boost past 1 bar yet because i spent all my money on this turbo so there not even enough money to pay for extra fuel for road tuning either. Its good, I am thinking it has the same power at 9psi then it used to have at 15. So 20psi will be interesting, before i made 363rwkw on 25psi now it will be making that on 18psi i wreckon. Should be interesting Yes it raised the rpm for boost by about 300 - 400rpm mmmm yes. RB30DET. Here are some pics from my mission last weekend, i took my time with it and used my old housings and gtr_etr sent me his 1.06 to swap with my .82 from QLD, thanks mate!... oh it took me about 4 hours all up to change it over by myself. I got a new turbo put on, and used a 1.06 rear housing instead of a .82 rear and the car sounds allot deeper then before, the engine sounds the same and runs really good but the exaust note is tuffer and deeper... oh its a GT3540 with 1.06 it used to be .82 ar and front is the same. I was wondering if this is normal or should i look for a exaust leak or something

  17. i use standard nissan studs and bolts and they never work themself loose
  18. i would start at the basics first. there is no reason why you need to replace expensive parts if you have not checked the simple things first. dodgy fuel pump or blocked filter can cause high knock levels. even pull the filter out and blow through it. it must not be hard to blow through at all.
  19. when i was a young lad i built one of these turbo's... you wouldnt want to build one now though.
  20. i think he said he has finished with the boost98. I would replace your fuel filter and pray it fixes the problem. if not your going to have to remove the injectors and get them cleaned. once you have done that then you can look at changing the fuel pump. it shouldnt wreck the pump. maybe the fuel was dirty and it clogged the filter
  21. yeah it has a small hole. If you pay $80 for it + post il get it repaired for you
  22. I need to move back to sydney at the end of may. so if there is something happenening.. im for it.
  23. if your spinning the wheels you will be facing the gutter. are you facing the gutter when the light comes on ?
