i would like to get some exposure to this. i was thinking about buying the workshop licence as a few mates need some tunes on the their stock ecu's... I hear its good but i cant say untill i tune one.
-
the turbotech has 2 types.. some have a hole that bleeds air and some dont. mine had the hole in it and man i swear alot of air can come out of that hole on the dyno... heaps of pressure and air.. i was shocked.
-
they are totally different. the turbo tech uses a ball and spring and the screw puts pressure on the spring which puts pressure on the ball and the ball closes untill there is enough boost hitting it to open. So the ball will be moving up and down and bleeding excess air as well while still holding the same amount of boost.
-
Cheers.. check my last post. I do believe a decent EBC can hold boost better then a turbotech and bring it on quicker and have controll over how it comes on which you dont get with the turbotech. But you will need to spend around $500 and more. I have been using turbotech controllers since that thread started was when i got one. I just rate them and think they are a good product because it saved me from the headaches and problems that i once had with a turbosmart bleed valve and I think it deserves credit for what it is. Its a great product and im sure somone is makin a bit of $$ outta them. actually when i first got my gt3540 put on etc etc i was told to get a good boost controller cos that "crap" you have there wont work with an external gate and stuff before puttin gon the dyno but i was keen to try it so we did and the results were amazing.. no one could believe how well it worked with a top mount turbo setup as well as how it worked with a small low mount setup

The turbotech does block all air to the wastegate (or actuator) untill there is boost in the line and then the air gets sent to the actuator depending on how much pressure you have put on the ball and spring so it should spool up as good or close to as good as the leading EBC's IMHO. As for holding BETTER then a ebc.. im sure you if you got a $1000 ebc and then compared it to this $30 device on a dyno and did some power runs on the same car and showed the boost curve you will find that the EBC may bring boost on a tiny bit quicker and it may hold it straighter if setup correctly - now saying this as for the differences you would notice on the street there would probly be none at all that you could tell. But hey.. lets not compare apples and organges here.. im sure my grandma's 120y would not go too bad compared to a BMW M3 now ey ? Get the turbotech - try it. if it dont work for you then just sell it on here and buy a EBC. They are easy to sell because everyone wants one and does not want to wait the 2 weeks it takes to get it delivered normally. my 2c

Need one.. ok i can think of a few reasons why someone would need one. 1: you have a 350rwkw and you dont want to drive around every day on that and you want to change the boost by the press of the button for when you want to impress your mates or the girlies 2: You have troubles driving the car on full boost everywhere and require the speed dependant boost controll. 3: you must have all the cool toys and you have money to burn. There :laughing-smiley-014:

at the end of the day you dont need to spend $600 on a ebc. You can use this cheap valve and save yourself some money. I have put the turbotech on MANY cars and i have never changed my thoughts about them. They just work really really good and thats all there is to it. If you got lots of money to burn then give it to me! dont buy a ebc if you dont really need one. Look at my dyno sheet down below. look how good it holds boost. i have seen many ebc's hold boost crapola compared to that. Even my AVCR does not hold boost as good as the Turbotech. I am going to try and mod my AVCR to work with the Apexi PFC to controll it instead.

im a n00b. double post flame me. you kow you want too
-
i was running the turbotech for years. i loved mine till i lost the bolt and spring and ball on the road somewhere... only then did i get a AVCR (older type) on my dyno sheet on my sig you can see (just) the boost curve. its flat. i have had people who own workshops tell me that they have seen electronic boost controllerss not be able to hold as much boost as the turbotech. I dont think you need a electronic boost controller at all. i got mine really cheap and i would have replaced it with another turbotech if it did not come up. ohh and my car was running 25psi and 363 rwkw with the turbotech on a tial 38mm external wastegate.

issues with the hand controller. has anyone pulled one appart and tried to fix it yet ?

Power Loss When Engaged In Awd
Guilt-Toy replied to gtrboosting's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yes there will always be a power loss in 4wd as compared to the same car running rwd. Power dont come for free! -
I think he is confused with the profile of the tyre

try puttin the plugs down to .7

Have The Japs Actually Tried?
Guilt-Toy replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in General Automotive Discussion
holy crap! Thats crazy!!! We dont care that your skyline built in japan is on the 'verge' of having as much power as a back yard built skyline in Australia. Big wooop. we dont need to go to japan to find those.. there are plenty of them around here. If you dont have any input for the thread then please dont post in here. Go ruin someone else's threads. -

yeah i am aware that these cars would cost alot and there would not be much market for them. But things can change! I would just love to see it in my lifetime -
whaaaa ???

Have The Japs Actually Tried?

does it have 500kw + ? -
I was just wondering.. Why dont the japs ever release a really potent powerfull machine ? I mean they over engineer some engines like the RB's and 1/2J's to be pushed alot harder then how they release them but every time i think about it i wonder what would happen if nissan and toyota actually tried to make a really high powered sports car that has no limits ? I am aware that there are lots of limits they have to stand by but I was just thinking.. From the likes of Holden & Fords new 300+ kw engines which makes alot more power standard then the japs do... I was just wondering what kinda things do you guys expect we would see ? Im thinkin Nissan would have a 4wd gtr spin off that will have 800 4wkw and toyota might do a rwd 1000kw monster. Buy yeah kinda sucks that you can get BMW's with a heap of power standard and even a ford or holden these days when the japs IMHO just sit back and watch and are only interested in doing their own thing. Would be good to see a mass produced jap super car take on the high end market. But yeah if there has been some then tell us about it....
