  1. Yes its plastic. to make boost come on quicker - thats why you cant run as much boost as the s1 turbo. The core is a ball bearing core but garret are unable to rebuild them - when these turbo's are highflowed they replace the core alltogether. they were designed to be a chuck away turbo - she blows she goes.
  2. not really because its not very hard at all to disconnect your wastegate actuator
  3. if you remove the ball bearing and the spring then you will be running stock boost pressure (the boost level that your waste gate actuator is set to)
  4. i did a 4.01 in mine but it wheel spun at 80ks an hour to the rev limiter which is the bestr ive been able to do with the least amount of wheelspin so i guess it doesnt count. other times i tried since getting over 300rwkw it would read 2.5 and stuff because it would spin to rev limiter as soon as i change gears lol its a apexi speed meter type 1
  5. it depends if you want to pass emissions are not. if you do then get the catco.
  6. the cat was 2.5 inch Catco
  7. wooahhh.. nice answer but they never stopped when i went the first time and leaned it off and the nox went up like nothing else they kept going and gave me a print out. if you look at the sheet that i posted you can see the different gas's and the speed that the car was going as well. the top line is the speed the bottom is the emissions - as you can see its very low on bottom one. i should scan my first test and show you.. its pretty interesting the differences between the 2 tunes. They drive it for around 30 seconds and then they come to a complete stop then keep going and then get up to 90ks an hour and cruise then come to a complete stop. I think a stock turbo r33 would go into boost - so maybe disconnecting the actuator might help
  8. not too sure at the moment.. i got a few options. one on the central coast and one in sydney and one in newcastle.
  9. it must be the setup - since you changed the cooler its running more boost on the stock actuator. Try taking the spring and the ball bearing out and then testing how much boost it runs (put the screw in 2 turns and lock it in just to seal it off) and that will give you a indication on the minimum boost you can run. If you do that and it runs the boost you want then leave it like that untill you plan to turn the boost back up again. These are great controllers.. i run one on my rb30det with 317 rwkw with external gate, the boost curve is straight as.. so yeah try that and see what it does then let me know.
  10. IF it does cost that much in VIC to get the test then you should look for a tuner that has a 5gas sensor system and pay him to tune it so you can pass the test the first go. i cant stress how important it is to get a HIGH quality cat that has been proven to remove emissions. Catco is the way to go - i believe there is one that is a little better.
  11. hey mate Yes i did lose quite a bit of power. I still have the same cat on since the test i think its 2 and 3 quarter inch. not interested in power atm.. i gotta upgrade the fuel pump and retune it on boost to go for around 350 - 380rwkw so I am going to invest into a 4" high flow cat which will cost around $400. For now i will go back to using my xforce 3" highflow
  12. what you can do is go down to your local spare parts shop like auto pro (which is where i got mine from) and take the spring to them. ask them for one the same size - my local auto pro had one. cut the spring to be a little shorter and use that spring. also on the side of the spring that sits on the little ball - bend the last curl in a little bit so that the ball cannot crawl inside the spring or it will do some crazy stuff (run less boost not more so its safe) make sure its all correct and see how it goes
  13. you will make hardly any boost when free reving - you can spool enough to make it sound like there is lots of boost in there but really there is stuff all - i have never really seen it go past 1 - 3psi and thats giving it some really hard revs sammie - rev it hard - i mean floor it all of a sudden untill it gets to 6000rpm let go of the throttle then you will hear the turbo
  14. if you think your car should boost when its not in gear then you need to take your turbo off
  15. ive been in one with a .82 rear it was in a VL with a 9" and it went hard.
  16. how wet does the skid pan get? are there puddles ? if there are then i need to mod my air filter location a bit for the event
  17. it is possible that the tuner who tuned the computer before with the apexi power fc software locked the fuel maps.
  18. I turned my rb25 into macaroni and cheese with a malpassi. I now run a sard - might be upgrading it because im past the 450hp mark so make a offer
  19. AGREED.. they hardly ever work properly. get a sard for the min. many people have lost engines because of malpassi's dont be another victim. replace it asap. dont hit boost untill thats done.
  20. that is awesome.. using hicas lines to run the fuel. hi 5
  21. yeah the 3-way cat is the way to go. i think this catco is a 3-way.
  22. get injectors cleaned outside of rail. tried swapping a air flow meter with a mates?
