Here is the test scanned up. such a nice clean tune compared to the first time. -

cheers dude.. Autronic is another ECU that has been known to pass emisions so you should be able to do it to... my car is not legal just yet - i need to get a engineers certificate to finish it off which is comming very soon. but its a good start and something to show mr police man if he gets nasty about it. -

Im pretty sure the charcol canister is all hooked up correctly.. i hooked it back up again last weekend and not sure about the pvc valve.. i think it is all still stock as i run the standard bottom half of the plenum with the plazmaman. -

Emission Testing Modified Skyline's
Guilt-Toy replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
sucks to be in VIC then. -
i had this problem. Check your charcol canister. if its not hooked up PROPERLY then you will have the fuel smell. also there is a breather that sits on the top of the dif from the fuel tank make sure thats plugged inproperly (that was disconected on my R33) Id just be checking the charcol canister to start with. make sure its hooked up PROPERLY.

Emission Testing Modified Skyline's
Guilt-Toy replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sydneykid Its because when you run them lean and good economy they are running hotter - the hotter the combustion tempreture is the more bad emissions get released into the atmosphere. I guess thats why its like the way it is. You have to burn more fuel to get a cooler burn so your not releasing bad gas into the atmosphere - the limits do change from year to year but they just keep getting higher and higher and higher. I believe this testing method IM240 dates back to 1970 something in the US where they emulated a standard taxi drive somehwere in california (or something like that) If they change it - it may be even harder to pass... leave it how it is i say.. I must admit it was not as hard for me to get my car right then everyone makes it out to be. -

Guilt-Toy replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah but the IM240 test is designed to make sure the car is still in compliance with the emissions from factory so even after all the modifications this tests tells them that it is still OK. Thats how it works in NSW. My engineer wants to see the test and make sure its all below the standards before he will give me a certificate. -

Guilt-Toy replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
How does that work ? emissions are emissions.. i still have to get a engineers certificate for all the modifications. All i have done today is get the proof that my car is still complient with the emissions for that model car AFTER the modifications are installed. -

Cheers for the support mate. The reason is that I passed my car to comply with 95 model emissions - when holden or whoever are making there cars they have to comply with 2007 emissions so that would make it much tougher and harder. I do know of many people who have gone for this test and failed I was just determined to get it done because i really want my car to be legal and this is the MAJOR hurdle for getting that done. my car has Front mount intercooler Apexi Power FC Apexi Pod filter hidden in front bar Top mount manifold with ext gate (plumbed back)and gt3540 700hp turbo Plasmaman Plenum Nismo 740cc injectors 500hp walbro pump (to be upgraded to bosh 044 800hp for more power) 600x300x100 intercooler Forged pistons and forged hbeam rods I have not passed the noise test yet but that is easy! probly the easiest part of this whole ordeal. I may be interested in doing some emission tunes for people to get there cars pass - might get a couple of friends cars pass first to get alot more confident with it.. my mate said i can hire his dyno anytime to do the cars so it may be something i will get into because i really enjoy it.. its great fun and gives me heaps of satisfaction when i get results.. first was 317rwkw now the IM240... -

if you get pulled over and defected the police can nominate you to get a IM240 test OR in my case i did it because you NEED it to get a engineer's certificate which is what i will be getting next pay -

Cheers mate. Thanks for all your input on the topic. it really helped me to work out where mine was out and what needed to be changed to get it pass. -
Emission Testing Modified Skyline's
Guilt-Toy replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
thanks man.. !!! I retuned it to run between 13.6 - 14.4 on cruise - keeping in mind the map was based on the Apexi Power FC for japan's fuel... I sat in the passenger seat with the HC and just watched the emissions read on the screen while he was driving with the HUGEST smile on my face I also used Shell V-Power 100 with 5% ethenol. and got hold of a good compliance Cat converter (Thanks Jerry) and fixed up the vapor leak - found the charcol canister was not even hooked up and the breather from the tank ontop of the dif was not even pluged in!!! -

I PASSED THE TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys have no idea how happy i am right now.. i just got back to work from the RTA Botany and passed the IM240 test with FLYING colours. THC 0.39 - NOX 1.01 - CO 2.6 (its even half what it can be) Every part of that tune and setup was done by me - this adds to the satisfaction as well as the fact that many people doubted me and said things like "you cant pass big injectors" "you cant pass a power FC" "you need to get a 5 gas tune that costs $1000 at least before you should even bother attempting" rah rah rah rah rah. HA!!! I tuned the car the first time for economy and failed the test due to a high NOX so then i hired the dyno again the other weekend and re-tuned it to how i "thought" it would need to be to pass emissions after gathering as much information as possible on the net and comparing it to a passed test sheet. So yeah 317rwkw and fully EPA legal. Now its time to get my engineers certificate so I can stick it up the police and epa. I hate to sound like im blowing my trumpet but i am soo stoaked that I managed to pull this off all by myself. (with some hints from Jerry WRXHOON who has done the tests before) After i get the car engineered its time to go for 400+rwkw -
Sard or better is the only way to go. Id never suggest a malpasi

you will break at least 4 or 5 more removing them. once you replace one you just replace them all anyway. A ex manifold gasket is $110 from nissan. it can be a big job

Fuel Injector Duty Cycle Vs Rwkw?
Guilt-Toy replied to benl1981's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
there is no way you can get a relationship between injector duty and rwkw. thats just silly. every car is different. different pump conditions different fuel line different engine condition / turbo condition / intercooler setup / head setup and the list goes on. run the fuel pressure at 46psi and use the injector duty up to around 95% absolute maximum which should see between 210rwkw to 230rwkw -
I got 430rwhp with PFC & AFM with Nismo 740cc injectors and on my last RTA Emissions test it recorded 11.8 litres per hundred which is over 500ks to a tank (60 litres) it did fail the emissions test because i tuned it to run good on fuel.. now after i retuned it it uses more fuel then before (keen to pass this test) So yeah you can have big injectors and get good fuel economy. maybe its the computer that cant handle the injectors properly i do keep hearing that apexi power fc's handle big injectors well so that may be why mine is the way it is.

far out thats the same power as me.. im gona go for around 480 to try for my 10 sec pass

Hey mate Raymond terrace can have some bad area's.. if you move around the lakeside area (near the dam) that area is good. also on the other side of the dam (riverview ridge / roslyn estate area) is probly the best part of Raymond Terrace (i lived there for over 15 years) Stay away from the housing commission area's.. you will know them when you look at the place.. PM me and i can give you my phone number if you want to ask any questions. Turbotechnics in Cardiff is the go for tuning We dont have any motorsport except for the MG car club which holds events every month and the hill climb at newcastle every year but its just a 1 hour and 20 minute drive from raymond terrace to the end of the freeway taking it easy.

Hey gary I heard of people running a stock gtr pump or gtst pump in the tank feeding directly to a bosh 044 - is this a bad idea ? one guy has been running his gtr to over 400rwkw like this. Reason why is because i dont really want to have the bosh pump outside of the tank cover to try and mask some noise and i want to put a xbox in its place instead of putting a surge tank there if i can. Any suggestions or ideas on what can be done? i would prefer a intank system if i can.
