  2. I was thinking that.... Did yours make a howling sound on idle too?
  3. Can anyone help ??? I got a r33 gtst and the oil pressure never goes under the second line (before the 4) but my friends RB25DE r33 goes all the way down to close to 0 when its idle. The car makes a weird sound when its at idle (she calls it the gremlens) but its like a howling sound. Could that mean the oil pump is stuffed? as soon as you raise the revs by at least 300rpm the sound goes away and oil pressure goes back to normal levels. (just before the 4 or abouts) When driving its fine...... Whats up with the beast ? does it really matter to have close to 0 oil pressure on idle ?? The engine is NON turbo...

  6. everyone has had bad luck sooner or later with their cars.. first month i ownded my car a truck decided he wanted my lane and drove me into the gutter. 2 x ASA LS1 Wheels @ $550 each and 2 tyres over $250 each.

  15. I really want more information on practically getting the VCT hooked up. also do you need oil squirters? how hard are they to install? can you get away without it ?
  16. what about the first original s-afc ? the one with the dials. Do they do the same job ? Do they remove the fuel cut too ???

One thing i forgot to mention was that I upgraded my turbo (well some people think its a downgrade) I put a VL t3 turbo with race bearings with a t4 front wheel and the front housing machined to suit. So once im on boost it does not drop off up to the rev limiter. SO i dont notice a drop off in power at 7000rpm in second gear at all.... It pulls all the way... (i am only using about 9 - 10 psi. But i guess its flowing alot more air then a standard r33 turbo ?!? When changing ti second when doing my quarter / 0-100 runs i use stuff all time.. its like a full on slam shift on the gas straight up. Takes some practice... If i change gears slowly i get 5.5 runs all the time... extra time changing gears + extra time spooling boost up once it escapes out the BOV

  19. Ok. I want to do it cheaply also. So when will we be able to see pics of the parts / setup to get VCT working & get the cam the oil it needs at the same time? You guys are talking about rb25DE heads what about a R33 gts25t converstion ? what compression ratio will a RB25DET head on a RB30 block with standard NA pistons be ?? what will it be ? will it work ?? If you buy a good RB30 NA could you get away without rebuilding it ? Why does it have to be rebuilt when these engines go for half a million k's without any troubles ?!? Will the oil lines / water lines off the turbo have to be modified because of the difference in the block lenth ? and how much longer is it actually ? I wonder if my Nizmo strut brace will fit..... Anyway are we working on a full guide for this conversion using standard R33 bits ??
  20. will the SAFC2 remove the standard boost cut at 12 psi ? Do you have to install a fuel cut defender as well? Yes i have intercooler FM Yes i have changed the turbo to Steel wheels. I want 17 18 psi What is the most power you can get from a S-AFC2 with standard fuel pump / injectors if they hold up ok? Has anyone got a SAFC2 and good power figures?!? What about SAFC (first version) does that remove boost cut too ?!?
  21. Ive got a Apexi Speed meter. Auto Dif ratio 4.3:1 with 5 speed manual. 235/45/18 rears I can get Constant high 4's (but i have to slam second gear and my max speed in second is about 102kph) But ive been launching boosted cars for years.. After a while you can get good launch after launch.... We have lots of traffic lights in 80 zones around here.. So everytime i stop at one I do a 0-100 launch.. I even do them when turning right onto another road (have to go slow then slam it) and i usually get mid 6's then doing it like that. If i dont slam second i get 5.5's all day long just taking off quickly and changing gears slowly Ive raced a few cars around here.. and I launch them off the mark every time.... Best way to launch is to get the revs up.. let the clutch half out and slip your way untill youve got enough speed to get good traction to let go of the clutch and floor it. Then when changing to second you push the clutch in very quick and just slam it into second and floor it straight up (DONT flat change you let go of accelerator too The skyline is easier to launch then my datsun 180b sss was with a 300rwhp fj20t...

  23. When i do my quarter runs & 0-100 runs i DONT wheel spin. I find i get better launches taking off clutch spin on boost and floor it once i feel im gettin enuf traction
