  1. Beer Baron if a car gets imported without the engine number and paint code plate in the engine bay can it still be customed and complied?
  2. Yeah my life atm is just tuning. I talk to customers and give them advice on what to buy and prices for tuning etc... I get 1 day a week off only.. but work is fun so its good. its not legal, its a RHD un touched GTR with a broken engine, the rev limit seemed to be removed somehow.... and the guy just kept breaking engines. I should really send this back home.. how much does it cost to compliance a 33 gtr? I tuned a Nissan Patrol last night, 770hp at wheels on.. *pump gas* pump gas.. wtf??? its got a gt47 on it. I have a new saying... The limits your hear about on pump gas are for the ones who listen.
  3. the car is tall as f**k... I am sure it feels much much different to the old r33 gtst which had 4.11 more news, just got my hands on a pretty decent R33 GTR. 1996
  4. thats what they say here, and now my speedo is out by 30km or so. very long gears now. can you take the gears out of the gtst and put them into the gtr diff?
  5. in 2006 they banned all converted cars to be registered in Abu Dhabi. If you find one with Abu Dhabi plates then the number plate is worth as much as the car. I could never drive my r33 here, and i did not want to destroy it by converting it and registering it (i could do it in one of the other emirates we have connections) Its a GTST with full GTR body conversion. it has 18x10 volks and it still dont fit the rear gaurds, they are wide body big time lol its crazy, the gtr rear end 3.2 ratio makes the car torque crazy, i want to change the ratio back to 4.11 though. can i just remove the parts from my gtst diff and convert them over to the gtr diff to steal the 3.2 ratio? anyone know? its has a R32 gtr diff. cheers

  9. Yeah well I have never been one to do any mods to the body or anything that is not performance related, i don't really care how it looks to be honest just how it handles and goes. The guys re-located the brake fluid reservoir, and made a heat shield for the master cyl. Here is a pic. Hope fuel system and wiring is finished today for a startup
  10. yes the cars must be LHD to be registered here, and about 5 or more years ago they passed a law where converted cars were not allowed to be registered, which is why this car cost as much as it did because it has Abu Dhabi plates and registered. The plates was half the price of the car really.. very rare, thats why i got the car even if it had a 2j Should start the car today id say, id upload more pics but dont have time to convert them to smaller then 2mb, (silly rule)

Damn you And yeah these guys really are doing everything to help with this build, Its kinda weird, I will bring them any part to put in the car, no matter how big or small it is they just say OK and the next day its installed. I feel spoiled, Like a fat kid in a toy store with unlimited credit card.... LOL hate to admit it but its true =) BUT I did donate the old 2jz to the workshop for the Project X Drag car. They were happy when i said i would give it to them but I guess they dont realise how much I hated that engine being in that car they actually done me a favour by taking it off my hands 2JZ = Lose.. RB... WIN
  12. I got a new Skyline about a week ago or so, I was too ashamed to post on here untill I got started fixing up the car. Wow this was my 5,000th post since 2002... To cut a long story short, I took the car for a drive and I was very pissed, to put it in reverse you have to pull the hand brake up, the transmission felt like something from a 1970's corolla, and when it hit boost there was a boost cut. So thats IT, I realised something.. TURBO ON WRONG SIDE, STEERING WHEEL ON WRONG SIDE!!! Sooooo, there was only one thing I had to do, and this happened the next day after buying the car. (Thank FARRRK for that!!!) I started looking around for a decent rb26, found a few cheap ones then I realised I needed a 25 box and sooo many other things so there was one easy way out, I knew where there was a decent engine and everything I needed to fix this car.... See where this is going ?? This is the turbo from the RB30, it has had quite a large dose of VP raing Q16 =) This is under the 32, the exhaust crossing over from the wrong side! So now it was time to sit the rb30det in there, it was not going to fit at all, i thought it would be a easy swap but I was wrong!! Guys making the engine mounts This dude can fabricate any engine to fit in anything, he is a master!! And the finished product This is my right hand man Soubin by day NibNOS by night (at night we turn his name tag around when he is working overtime), he is with me when I tune every car, he is cleaning up the wire harness from the R33 getting it ready to put in the R32, after he removed it. (He is indian, most of the workers at the shop are Indian and we have 2 Phillipino's) The guys working hard The master welding the modded dump pipe Dump dummy fitted, this was thursday night at knock off time, Friday is the only day off on the week here because its a Islamic country, that night i grabbed about 200$ worth of alcohol and we got on it big time, I am still recovering This is how we left it before we starting drinking, the car should be running in the next few days! Is this the only RB25/30 LHD Skyline in the world? I dunno
  13. Actually ALL the locals are very educated. They go to uni for many years usually in other countries, i have met maybe 40 or 50 of them who have studied in Australia. They are very educated people and they all hold high paying jobs, in banks or in military or in police gov jobs etc etc. The whole "oil money" thing is bullshit, these guys love cars with such passion its amazing, its something that you really have to respect. Sure you see alot of videos from Dubai about a car covered in gold or silver, and lots of crazy shit like that, those guys usually are connected to the Royal Family and do have a F load of money. We do have customers who are connected to the Royal Family but I can never tell until someone tell's me. The local guys are such nice people, it really blows me away. Hahahhaa Gor =) Can't wait till your engine is finished, saw your sump pics, looks good. Our Dyno broke, I had to build a completly new PC for it and get the software working again, there is about 6 cars back logged to tune, i finished 2 today and here is a video from one of them =)

Yes there are police and they are mostly strict on sound and loud cars, but if you have a sports car like a ferarri or lambo or skyline or supra or something they think because its a sports car it is alowed to be loud and they dont really f**k you up so bad. The freeways are amazing, each direction can have up to 8 lanes each, i swear you could drive 400km/h on these roads but there is a speed camera every 5 minutes on the Abu Dhabi to Dubai highway. Here the speed limit is 120, but in the Abu Dhabi area the speed camera's dont go off unless your going over 160, and in Dubai its 140. So everyone is doing 150 or 130 depending where they are. Also the fines work very different, if you get snapped by a speed camera then you wont get the fine or have to pay anything untill your rego is due the next year, so these guys call it "tax" They pretty much drive as fast as they like and ignore speed camera's most of the time, and when the time comes to pay rego they have a choice, pay the money up front, or the car can go to "jail" for a few months depending how much money you owe. So these guys usually have no car for 1 or 2 months a year and have to pay about $5,000 - $50,000 in fines when rego comes around, alot of the time if the car is not worth as much as the fines they have to pay then they just leave the car with the police impound and buy another one!! On new years were were going somewhere, my boss was driving and we were sitting on 220 for about a hour non stop, there was about 6 or 7 flash's that i can remember, when a flash comes they will notice it and say "ohh damn ohh f**k" slow down for 1 minute then they are doing 220 again just in time for the next speed camera snap? Its different i tell ya
  15. Yeah was not going to mention any names.. but il never forget that day. My rb30 had a oil leak and i could never pin point it. i worked out the front seal was leaking. So pulled the engine down and replaced the seal but it was a little crooked but it took sooo long to get that seal in there it was a bastard i tell you, my mate was helping me and he kept saying just leave it like that it will seal fine but me being a perfectionist in the most anal of times i decided to remove it and try again because i did not want to go through that all again. When i removed it i heard a litting "ting" on the concrete in the garage and found a piece of my stock oil pump WTF!! the oil pump was cracked but still working and it damaged the seal! thats when i called you and hassled the shit out of you to organise someone to pass on the oil pump to me... thanks for that again it saved the day that rb25 oil pump had alot of limiter bashing and was about 250,000 km's old as it was the original pump on my car. I never rev my rb30 over 7300rpm and ive used a very soft limiter ever since. Seems to be working fine in these conditions.
  16. yeah, 26's are cheap here so i was thinking about taking out my rb30 and turning it into a 26/30 for a drag car then just drop a stock rb26 in my car. Right now I just want to build a v8 drift silvia or something, not going to attempt a drag car right now but we already have a r32 gtst with a 2jz thats at the point shop which is supposed to be the workshops drag car, i have never seen it but they say it exists
  17. Correct me if i am wrong but I THINK that when the gears gave way and siezed the engine must have had some torque behind it and kept spinning inside the pump and just shredded them away... You can see there was a f load of heat inside there at one point nice main bolts btw

I purchased a second hand N1 pump from someone on this forum (he took it out of his car because he was paranoid) and been using it ever since, the pump is 4 years old now and ive been using it in my RB30 for 3 years, its been to 2 different countries and traveled a LOAD of km's with revs up to around 7300 with stock balancer when racing. It has withstanded temps of -10deg where you HAVE to use anti freeze and also hot weather also. I use a very soft rev limiter with the vipec and stock balancer but i ALLWAYS use the best oil... Motul. Only different thing i did before installing it was lock tight the screws on the back. N1 all the way IMO even after 100,000 km (road) its still going strong! just ran a 10 last month. The N1 pump has served me great.
  19. ask trent to put his knock sensor on the car and take it for a drive and listen to the engine, those knock sensors are designed to pickup knock on a completly standard setup, when you start changing the power outout boost revs and do mods to the car the knock sensors usually start to give false readings. I don't know how willing trent will be to do this, i guess everything has its price for piece of mind. ie do not expect this service for free.
  20. They tried the Bee-R's.. they do not work too good on the patrols and land cruisers. Whats the point buying ethanol here, the price of VP Racing Q16 or C16 is cheap here, there are 2 barrels of it at work here and my boss said i can use it if i want, I allready spent 1 barrel, well now i have to tip it on its side so the sucker thing can reach The price of fuel for 98 octane is about 45c a litre here in UAE, in Saudi Arabia it is HALF the price then here whats the point of making ethanol if we can just use race gas and its probably going to be cheaper anyway? Its just another world here.... I am going to the north of UAE soon to see the Jap import tuner scene... Il try and keep this thread a bit more active with insane shit
  21. try another afm, they are very temprimental, even if they are sitting the wrong way they can make the engine run like crap. try moving the afm around or something
  22. not too sure... not really interested that much in them to ask, but I have been trying to convince the boss to build a RB powered 4wd 32 gtr and kick all their arses... It would be the only 4wd in its class... want me to ask around for you? it would cost less then $3000 to send the car. Simonr32: yeah i did agree with that at first, but when you see these guys in action they go pretty damn fast! its not their fault their tuners / workshops cannot build RB's for shit, they are really cool guys the locals... they just want to go fast and they do it well with the 2jz, the biggest issue here is that they have a love affair with putting the foot flat to floor when in nutral and smash the rev limiter to make big cut off bang noises and they love to make noise when changing gears when hitting the rev limiter its a HUGE thing here. I have seen soooo many naturally aspirated Nissan Patrols with Motec M600's or autronics (most popular ecu) and there are many many microtech's and haltech's as well just so they can program the car to have a smashing rev limiter, soo many times the guys come to me and ask "if i buy a motec can you make me bang bang" Yeah sure I can, thats 24,000 DHS (about 7000$) thanks and they pay it just so they can make the bang bang pop pop bang noise like everyone else! The other day i just tuned a car, and he was outside the dyno room with foot flat to floor for 15 seconds at a time, after the 10th time i went out there and said "i can show you a quicker way to f**k your engine" the dude could not even speak english or understand what i said lol There was a RB powered r33 gtst drift car at the last drift event i went to, I WAS SHOCKED. Was talking to some guys the other day, the whole Yas marina motorsport complex (its huge, the F1 track and the drag strip and go kart track and Ferarri World etc) they have a WHOLE Top Fueler team, one of the huge semi's when i went inside there was 5 spare 8000hp engines sitting in that truck and it costs the Abu Dhabi city SOOO much money every year, they pretty much built it just for the locals to have fun and for the F1 / V8 supercars and anything else they can bring here for tourism, they had Formular Drift here last month, Mad Mike was here drifting the Red Bull RX8. They even bought 5% of Ferarri!!! Richest city in the world and they are not shy to spend it on Motorsport, I was at Yas Island today inside the motorsport arena (my boss works there) and its just beutifull inside you do not even think for a second that your in the middle of the desert. Just think, all the money you pay for fuel is going for a good cause... SO these guys can have the best drag strip and race track in the world for them to visit and use when they feel like it
  23. Arabs way of thinking.... RB's are shit. put a 2j in it. I want to buy another skyline but i cannot find a good one with a RB engine , its bullshit.. Turbo is on wrong side and even steering wheel is on wrong side!! someone kill me! They can't tune RB's and keep destroying them so they "just put a tuuuuu jaaay, hulaaas" makes me angry, but i am starting to get some customers who want to keep the RB these days, i try to explain to them that putting a toyota engine in a skyline is haraam, "like eating pork" and they look at me funny Check these pictures out.... PS. All the skylines at the pro drag event had 2j's, NOT EVEN 1 had a RB. Here are some pictures of them, ohhh and they are ALL RWD with GTR rear ends. they are doing low 8's to mid 8's

  25. if this is such a big problem, gather all the guys with GTR's who have issues, find a workshop who will hire out their dyno, and call a decent tuner in to fix the cars for you. some tuners travel around a fair bit, you just need to find the right one, id normally be interested but i just do not have time these days.
