Guilt-toy In Georgia (former Soviet Union)
Guilt-Toy replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Here is another project we have been working on. Georgian made Forged Pistons for RB25DET We have a factory here that used to be the biggest Soviet Factory back in the day and once Georgia broke away from Russia the factory has not been very busy. Guram knows many people here and what do you know, one of them is high up in the factory and is willing to make us anything we want if we provide him with all the information he needs. So I decided that we go with a flat top piston that goes off the standard Nissan design piston for RB25DET. Few weeks later the pistons were ready to install. With these pistons we used stock size with stock Nissan rings and we used the standard pins as well. These pistons were standard drop in size for RB25DET, we ordered a brand new set of rings from Nissan (Imported from Australia) and we assembled the engine and got it running. I could not believe that they actually worked. We ran the pistons in this engine for about 600km's and about 40 runs on the dyno, I really punished this engine pretty bad to the point where it blew the turbo charger so thats when the testing stopped for now. Soon we will be putting on a turbo similar size to a GT35r and will be pushing it even harder. The pistons are heat treated at T61 as many other Piston Manufacturers use for their pistons but the aluminium used with these pistons does not expand untill 340deg which is about 100deg higher then the aluminium being used on forged pistons that are being produced. This aluminium costs a fair bit more and is stronger but the production costs are lower especially when we get them made in bulk. After we test these we may be able to sell them for around $600 - $700 aud for a set, export to Ukraine and Russia and Europe is the market we will be focusing on to start with unless we see a big demand for these in Australia. Engine is still going strong, its been in there for about a month but the car is not running because the turbocharger is destroyed. Here are some pics I am currently working on RB oil pump gear replacements for stock RB25 & RB26 oil pumps. They will be made out of the strongest steet we can find. I will be replacing the gears in my N1 oil pump as well in the near future. -
Timing on a RB30DET is a pain in the ass. I had to play around with mine for a while before i got it right. take it all off and try again. harmonic balancer needs to come off and keep trying. good luck with it. I know your pain

this thread is useless. take the car to a good nistune tuner. Go see Yavus at Unigroup Engineering.

Yeah good idea. Because every RB25 can handle the exact same amount of ignition timing. We will be able to find the problem by looking at the timing maps straight away.

is it possible that those clips hold all the syncro's together and causes the 4th gear crunching? -

we had timers setup the night before for racing, would have been a first for Georgia but some idiots drifted over the wires and it fried the timing gear. I managed a 12.6 quarter the MPH is not recorded and when i recorded this time it was about 1am and cold and the track was damp and slippery. The "Georgian" rules works like this, here are 4 classes and they race in classes. You take a number from a hat to work out when you race. You have to win 2 out of 3 races then the loser gets knocked out and you wait till the next round. Once you have your race you have to turn around and drive down the track back to the start line to start again. This is not drag racing, its more like street racing or kiddie racing or something... The guys were complaining so much about the timed racing but we ended up racing their way anyway and I still won. I have never seen anything like this before, at the start there was around 100 or more people around the start line, if i lost it i would have killed at least 5 or more people for sure so I was pretty nervous the whole time as well. After I won I wanted to race a car and we were trying to get everyone off the track, it was amazing watching the idiots in the slow BMW's try and drift around the track and try and do skids etc etc.. was soo dangerous and so un-organised that i was expecting a big accident or something... There was no ambulance or fire crews present, nothing. If there was a accident then it would have been pretty bad but amazingly there was no accidents or anything. The mentality of people here are so different to us Aussies, the street racers here kinda remind me of primary school kids playing marbles or something... After a race there will be a big long discussion about the race and why the winner won or why the loser lost and they will talk complete and utter bullshit to try and make up excuses why they lost. If there is a fast car here and he has won 10 street races, if someone beats him then the car that beats him is now faster then all the cars the loser has beaten before. This amazes me! its gospel here and everyone believes it 100% its just the way they think here. People here don't race to have fun, they race to be the BEST, they race to have something to prove and they live for their car. One guy I beat on the street a few days ago was sooo stressed and soo upset it looked like he was about to cry or pull out a gun and start shooting. I cannot explain all what is going on here but I can tell you that it is a f**king experience I tell ya. -

yeah, no one here has ever seen a car accelerate as fast as my car once i got traction. my friends were telling me about the comments from some people, they were thinking the car had a jet engine on board lol -

We open on Sunday, workshop is just about finished Yeah, that road is sooo bad for racing, about 200 meters or less after the finish line is a corner and I had to brake very very hard to avoid crashing at 200 km/h. The road is soo bad that there was cracks all over it with grass growing out of them, there was cow shit all over the track which made it slippery and there was humps in the road where i would lose traction at high speeds!! in one of the videos you can hear the car going over the humps. lol, you mean Chernobyl ? hhahaha that was like 23 years ago??? and the fall out was in Ukraine and Balarus and some went other western Europe. There are no Nuclear power plants here.. they use the rivers for hyrdo Yeah, there were quite allot of supporters, but then there were the guys who hated the idea that some Australian comes and kick's their ass. Kinda sucks that I was only up against 4wd Jap cars, any other RWD would not have had a chance to win unless it has lots of hp. i only had about 450 rwhp for the day. -

Rb25det Gearbox Crunching Into 4th Gear

Here is a message i got from PJ a while back about fixing this issue. I removed his number from the PM, I am sure he wont appreciate his number being put on a public forum. I did talk to George and he is able to fix the box's for around $300 i believe. If someone is keen to get there's done and need his number then please send me a PM, maybe if you go to him with a box that needs the repair and ask him for the details and part number to get the parts to do the job he may help us out? Sadly I am not in a situation on the other side of the globe to do that. anyone keen? ------ Give George from Advanced Motor Mechanics in Enfield a call 0402 *** **** They do all the mechanical work on my beast. If your 4th gear syncro is hammered, replacing the clips won't stop the crunching though... Cheers Paul ------ -

nah the box won't break the gear. eventually you will wear out the syncro and it will get worse so that means if you fix the clip issue it will still crunch because the syncro will be worn out. We need answers! someone help us with the info we need. I am sure this is a quick and easy fix and once we get part numbers I will get pics and give all the info i can when i repair the box's here. -
I don't think I will be able to make it this year. Maybe next year..... mmmm steak.. I would kill for a decent Aussie BBQ'd 900grm T-bone right now. ohhhhh man..

Rb25det Gearbox Crunching Into 4th Gear
Guilt-Toy replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah they are the reason why this is happening. they hold the syncro in place or something? I am not sure. But i know there is one guy in sydney who knows the issue and he repaires them for $250. but i am in Eastern europe now i cant exactly chuck 2 box's in the back of my car and cruise down to him.. i mean the skyline can fly but not that far That would be good. please help. I have 3 gearbox's here that need this repair done on them and we cannot exactly take it to a local guy to find the issue and parts and sort it out. we can take him the box with the parts we need installed but thats about it. Yes its true, its from shifting from 3rd to 4th gear too fast. it has happened to a few of my box's and a few others that i know of. We need to get to the bottom of this!!! -

thanks for your help man, but thiis looks different to what came out of my gearbox. here are the pics in one of my other box's that this happened to only the small clip part came off and it crunch's into 4th gear. it does not crunch every time. about 60% of the time. any ideas? -

do you have a picture of these clips? what do they look like ? what came out of my gearbox does not look like a ring -
he was using the late model xf blocks... so its a bit older then yours. but i am sure the falcon engines are not very strong for forced induction. they were just not built for this kind of punishment.

Guilt-Toy replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
no its a syncro clip that brakes and falls into the oil. when you change the oil you can see it on the magnet. this is a known issue with 25 box's. so where can i get the parts to replace mine? -
CHEAP - RELIABLE - FAST You can only have 2.
