Joeyjoejoe's E85 Tuning Adventutres
Guilt-Toy replied to joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
well done mate. You increased boost so you cant compare figures. how much power did you make on the same boost? -
there is one 3kms away? great western highway mitchenberry

no way! will be changing it over when i am all setup on friday morning is there a BP near Eastern Creek?

Who's will be the loudest? yours? lol

yeah cheers mate it costs a bit to do this kinda stuff too.. Dyno's don't come cheap (even though it does not for me but its still money i fork out) I don't know how much longer I will be doing it for... If it wasnt for my friends who have Dyno's like Wayne @ Hunter All Wheel Dyno & Anthony Collins I would not have done any of this stuff, they are the ones who sponsor me lol ohhh + the Dirt man helps out too these days

yes. If your running e85, think injector size's as big as as you would run when running methanol or close to it because you need very big injectors, i was kidding myself before thinking that 740cc's would be enough for 400rwkw, I just figured it would be enough.. But then the brick wall came and knocked the shit out of me. This is the way i work though, i never listen to what anyone says I allways have to go there and do it for myself before i learn a lesson or before i learn anything in that matter. I am no text book learner I can only learn something after doing it myself and then i can very easily work out how it was done, what i should have done and how i can improve it.

Paul is the kind of guy would would bend over backwards for anyone and then tell you that it was nothing to him for helping you out when you say thankyou. Thanks for going out today and doing that for me Paul, I did not expect it and I still cannot believe you went out of the house for me, also the assistance you you gave when I was tryin to get my car ready for power cruise was a very big help. If it was'nt for you and Wayne @ Hunter all wheel dyno then i would not have been ready for power cruise. Thanks mate. Keep up the good work.

oi.. Raegan is a cool dude. He has been through some bad shit more then most of us put together. Nothing wrong with Peru, i would go there. -
some dodgy back yarders around my parts file the manual bush to fit insite the auto one lol

Yeah extra fuel is allways a good thing for a car thats going to be punished. More fuel also means you can push extra timing as well but many tuners will argue this. I prefer to run my own car rich, my mate who owned his own workshop has been around dyno's since he was 10 years old with his dad and he had many ideas which luckily he shared with me. He tunes his customers cars the way he likes to tune them unless someone tells him to tune it otherwise, its funny when he calls a 12.0 on wot tune a "sydney tune" the we don't care if it blows up tune, i can build the customer a new engine anyway and make money off it tune. My car has 374rwkw at the moment, 800nm of torque, (i did have 1083nm with a sydney tune once before though) I dont mind losing a bit of torque and power for the added extra fuel cooling which is going to be needed this weekend.
-
Yes. I tune differently to everyone else. Its called fuel shower. If its a 35deg day and your pushing 380rwkw at power cruise a little extra cooling wont go a stray. thats better. how much extra power did it make? what was the final timing? how much torque? post details in my e85 thread. cheers

yeah i hooked the fuel system up to the dyno - my fuel system is fine. with pump gas it holds the afr fine 11.7 to 10.8 on boost. He must be running his injectors at 100% flat out with a good fuel system as well. I am not interesed in running my car on the edge of the fuel system, i have invested too much time and money in the engine to risk a lean out and blow up. Now i am running 80% injectors at 374rwkw and its nice and safe for me. I think I wont be going back to e85 without 1000 - 1200 cc injectors, but when i do it will be a permanent switch so there will need to be many more servo's around with the stuff.

I think Paul has been taking too many joy rides in Twoogle since she has been tuned that its a bit of a shock to his system wayyyy too many g's

there is alot of setup there mate, like - Install ECU and run map sensor - Install air temp sensor in pipe and run wires - install digital input to clutch switch and run wires - Set timing on engine - Map ecu for cruise and boost... Thats a big mission.. I would think it could take 4 hours totally completed by a Vi-Pec experienced tuner. He would have to be good at what he does and know how to do it and has done it with this ecu a few times. I did notice with pauls car that when i was setting up and getting ready to tune I was flying through the setup and getting all configured and working ready to tune in no time at all. So yeah 4 to 5 hours if nothing else goes wrong - Drive in - Drive out deal. I would love to see someone setup a Power FC and tune it in that time, setup a aftermarket boost controller and setup a aftermarket launch interface and then your still missing anti lag and PROPER flat shift with time delay and timing retard. So yeah this ecu is friggin awesome now, once its actually fully finished and developed properly (Ray hall is continually working on improving it and adding features) it will be a pretty damn good first choice ecu for all applications. -

Got the stock r33 RB25DET boost solinoid working with the Vi-Pec on the weekend. It works very good. Honestly if you spent a little extra time with the boost controller settings you could get it to have a very very flat boost curve. Mine spikes a little but i was happy with the way it spiked. You need to program the duty cycle per load point. So if it spikes you add duty number, if boost is too low you you remove the number. Took me AGES to work it out. but once i got it worked out I got decent boost pressure AND.... I did get 511rwhp with e85 but it was running very very lean up top because i was out of injectors. So yeah very happy with my flat power curve from 135 to 180 all the way it has 2hp more or less then 500 ! Just how i like it. Useable power revs. Changed back to pump The more I use my Vi-Pec the better i am getting with it, Twoogle was a breeze to tune as well. So yeah another win for this great ecu. Cost me 0$ for electronic boost controll and its only a 2 port solinoid!! -

Elsie will have someone to play with now. She can put the silicon hose down now

ohhhh rb26 mate! nice Well well well.. How much peru power is this one gona have? 900 ? 1300 ? -
He had first dibs on it yes.
-
I believe he is going to give power cruise a miss. his health is more important then cars. He has a family to think of.
-
yeah the torque was about the same. I did not push e85 too much.. i was more concerned about the fuel issue more then anything. I would rather the engine be running less then 80ish duty with pump 98 with more power instead of running e85 at 100% with less power. for my car i can safely say that e85 makes less power then BP 98. Because my 740cc injectors are too small.
-
98 does seem to be a bit crisper then e85. But the response is about the same. With E85 there is more room to improve response with the tune cos you can advance the timing more at max torque. I was running at about 92% injectors with 340rwkw.. i got the car to run 382rwkw with e85 but it was getting leaner and leaner as it reved past 5000rpm - no more fuel left. For a nice safe e85 tune with 740cc injectors i would say is around 335 - 340rwkw. I wanted more power then this to power cruise so settled to go back to pump where i got 374rwkw on a fat fat tune in case its hot.
