  1. I found this on the Gizzmo tuning tools forum.. It says you have to make your car detonate to set the peek level? THATS JUST INSANE!!! Gizzmo wrote this... ----- The knock alert will be the last thing that you set as to do this you need to make a base run without det e.g. conservative timing and fuel in order to get an idea of the vehicles normal backround noise. The centre frequency cannot be determined by the piston size alone, many other factors come into this including cam profile, manifolding, rod ratio etc. In addition to this the center frequency will change with RPM and Load, so, this starts to become a bit grey. To get a starting point you will need to induce detonation but this must be at conservative loads as combustion presures under det go at least 6 times higher than normal combustion pressures. While instigating slight det adjust your center frequency in real time until you assertain where it is loudest, this will be your center frequency for that given load and RPM. Having done this I would recommend setting a bandpass of approx .3 to .4 to allow for variations with RPM and load. To be honest I myself rarely if ever adjust my own Kmon from a center of 6Khz with a bandpass of .5, at that I never miss a ping. -----
  2. interesting.. i was thinking about running 8100 in my car when i run the car in low power mode, but low power is 340rwkw so maybe i should wait till i put a lower wg spring in.
  3. im going over to the dark side mate. I am pretty sure with this ECU i can add a MAF if the MAP sensor pisses me off (this is a very good quality ecu so apparently this will not happen) As for how the IM240 machine works at the RTA, i have NO idea. But i do know how the machine reads, what it reads for and whats acceptable levels for whatever car.. I also know what levels are high medium and low when doing the dummy IM240 tests on the dyno instead of the guesswork i have been using previously. Should be tuning another car for emissions very soon.
  4. This is up for sale again. (providing mafia does not wish to buy it back, as i promised him first option) Asking for $400. Its not needed anymore as my new ECU has this inbuilt (except for the shift light)
  5. 15w50 This oil is awesome. I have never spun shit when using it. You will pay for it though.. just a little small extra insurance policy IMHO. DO NOT RUN IN YOUR ENGINE ON THIS OIL. It wont run in
  6. this engine is going to make more power then yours paul. You might need to tune it down a bit
  7. no more small technology comments please hmmmm... looking at this ECU software.. looks confusing
  8. Do your engine and your bank account a favour. Buy a Power FC. Then maybe you won't blow your engine up! But hey, your on a internet forum.. your here to ask for advise and then go off and do the complete oposite.
  9. MOTUL 300v chrono is the only oil you should be running. Unless you want to spin a bearing that is.
  10. map sensor Thats not what i need, i need the numbers on the injector themself... its really small print
  11. ohhh i can do that now with my current setup.. Gizzmo launch controll FTW
  12. ecu will be told when its in and working
  13. Yeah... i got many years ahead of me before i catch you trent Yes... The PFC is a great ecu. and it can do my power levels and much more. but seeing that i like to play nutty professor i need something that is more flexible to my needs. I still love power fc's they are great. But this ecu came up and its time to make the switch, ive delayed it long enough. Hope it all works out.
  14. why do you need 2? Yes its true! I am moving to tripple webbers
  15. yeah looks like it mate. I cannot move forward with the PFC anymore.. I have learnt all i need to know about PFC's.. time to move onto bigger and better things.
  16. He knows them inside out.. "You finally got yourself a real ecu hey ?"
  17. no.. on the injector... what paul said
  18. Does anyone know the Denso numbers that are on the Nismo 740cc injectors? Anyone got some out of the car? they can read the numbers off? This new ECU is a bit smarter then my old one
  19. Yeah Father Dirt has a early chrissy pressy for me when i go back up to newcastle on friday hmmmm.. going to be interesting trying to tune this ecu lucky i have the master AC from Turbotechnics to help me on saturday
  20. Yeah kinda keen.. Does it have knock control?
  21. HOLY CRAP! I been reading on the net a bit about IM240, and i came across this.. In California.. "Help for poor folks. If a vehicle fails a Smog Check inspection, but the owner cannot afford to make the repairs, the owner may be granted a "repair cost waiver" if the owner first pays for at least $450 in emissions-related repairs at a licensed repair station. This waiver is good for two years, and only one waiver will be issued while the motorist owns the vehicle." AND... "There is also an "economic hardship extension" for qualified low-income motorists. Like the Repair Cost Waiver, the extension is valid for two years and may be obtained only once during a motorist's ownership of a vehicle. However, to obtain an extension, motorists must spend $250 on emissions-related repairs at a licensed Smog Check station, or have an estimate from a licensed Smog Check station showing that a single repair would cost more than $250. Motorists must also verify their household income, which must be at or below 175% of the federal poverty level (about $29,000 a year for a family of four)." http://www.aa1car.com/library/im240.htm WOW!.. I wonder how many people here could have applied for the "repair cost waiver" LOL
  22. speaking of this, i once put mine on back to front. ran it that way for a year. easy mistake to make
  23. I have decided to post the results in the thread... The previous test back in Feb 07 my results were THC 0.39 NOX 1.01 CO 2.6 CO2 287.3 That was a pass. the requirements for my model car is THC 0.93 NOX 1.93 CO 9.3 (CO2 not required) Yesterday the results were.... THC 0.62 NOX 0.69 CO 1.1 CO2 312.7 If it was not for the fuel spike when going up the hill at about 170 seconds in then the THC would have been down to around 0.25 I would say... If i had of used the same CAT as i used last time.. things would be very different.
  24. the side that faces the OUTSIDE of the motor (facing the radiator) is the one that has the . (dot) timing mark on it. you cannot miss it.
