  1. These forums are promoting Skylines too much! /me conveniently forgets the point that he's probably the newest Skyline owner on the forum.
  2. I'm in NSW, but I saw about 6 cop cars in the space of 15 minutes. 2 doing RBTs on Epping Road 2 setting up RBTs on Epping Road ()
  3. Ohh rightio. That's good news cos I thought I had to jump start from the boot. Cheers, Tim
  4. Oh, I didn't realise that. I thought there was a small battery in the engine bay near the wiper water cannister (it has a + and - on it).
  5. Hey, I just had a look in the boot of my R33 Series 2, where the sway bar is in, there is a cordoned off area (where the rear shelf for the rear spkrs are). I lifted some of the felt/cardboard stuff away and saw there was a 2nd battery, larger than the one in the engine bay. Is this standard? Cheers, Tim
  6. I thought you could always use "reasonable" force if you're threatened? (Self defence?) I need a tazer, are they legal?
  7. Sweet Yeah it's a Form 4. Thanks.
  8. It shouldn't matter what you hit in an at-fault accident because 3rd party will cover the other cars. They could say they won't pay for your damages though.
  9. G'day, I didn't install it - it was part of compliance I guess. I heard they were like $40. The Jap radios seem to stop at 99.99 or something (i.e. can't pick up 104.1 etc). Mine offsets the freq by 18, so 96.9 => 78.9, etc.
  10. Hi Nick, Unfortunately I didn't. He hadn't installed the freq expander and I didn't have a CD on me so I didn't test it out at all. However, radio does work perfectly. I'll drop them a call and see how I go, thanks.
  11. Haha! See "void insurance" clause BTW I got my car Franks
  12. Hey Tony - yeah he said it was a GTS. 33Spec: congratulations on the car, looks very nice (just like mine! ). In regards to body mods, I think the side skirts and rear skirts make the car look good. The car looks a bit round under the door without them. Also, the Nismo chin spoiler is cool, but some people like the S2 stock, your call. 13. Hi guys, Picked up my car on Saturday.. been trying to play a few CDs. It's a stock R33 S2 doulbe din head unit with the cd + tape deck. The CDs either say "cd err" or randomly skip. I have tried a range of CDs, and not just CD-Rs ("real"CDs too!). I can only be lead to believe there is a fault in the deck itself, does anyone know if this is covered by the NSW statuatory wty? Do I have a leg to stand on returning to the dealer and asking him to swap it with his other stock? Cheers, Tim
  14. Other than the cost, what harm is there in a cat? It's not really going to slow your car down much, and whatever a stock cat costs for your car certainly sounds better than risking a $10k fine. My 2c.
  15. I heard you get absolutely raped if you get caught wihout a cat. I'd get one if I were you. I also heard the fine is in the order of $10k cos your emissions would be very bad w/o a cat.
  16. The Scottish guy is Tommy. I found him very helpful. What exactly was the problem? You wanted to change your age to 20 to see what the quote was? Keep in mind that Famous don't use computer calculators to work our premiums, it's pretty much contingent on each person which can lead to some inconsistencies. e.g. I called up and I am 20 with a 20% NCB, then my mate called up who is 21 and said he had a 30% NCB. His premium was more expensive by a few hundred (for EXACTLY the same car). But he ended up getting a different car and a cheaper quote in the end. Cheers, Tim
  17. Hey folks, Had a night-before episode today. Car pickup was tomorrow, was waiting on GIO to give me a letter saying my NCB so I could organise comprehensive insurance for tomorrow. Letter and fax were pending but neither arrived. Gave a call, and they are like "sorry you don't have a no claim bonus" and I'm like WTF?!?!. They told me I had a 20% NCB a few weeks ago, and the guy elaborated it's just an "internal" NCB because I am not the policy holder on my Pulsar policy (my parents are). So I'm like can't you just say "Tim's internal NCB is 20%"?? And he was like no, I can just say who the policy is with and you are a named driver with no claims. F$#K! I thought. Anyway I said fine, please fax it asap. I faxed it onto Famous Classic along with my application, picture of car and covering letter. Tommy accepted it! I was so happy. So even though I was just a named driver, because I had no claims they accepted that and I got my 20% NCB via Famous Classic. That was the *LAST* hurdle, the car is fully paid, insurance is fully paid and the car is registered and waiting for me to pick it up tomorrow Just thought I'd share my story because I know pretty much everyone has problems with insurance, so this might be a glimmer of hope for you guys who ruled out even trying to get insurance because you're not the policy holder. Cheers, Tim
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't R33s have better performance than R32s? (GTSts)
  19. Congratulations.
  20. And people with traction control would unfairly benefit
  21. I think NSW premiums are much more cos of theft/risk of accident.
  22. I see Apexi S-AFCs on web sites for like $600. You could probably get a decent price selling it if you were going to upgrade to PowerFC later on..
  23. I am in NSW but couldn't they argue it's reckless driving?
  24. Wow good story!!! They should definitely be able to claim the car to be fixed and get the 2 chicks in trouble. I can't believe you said that to your chicks - wasn't your gf with you by the time everyone had come out? *EDIT oh yeah, and as a witness you definitely should have gotten the contact details of the chicks - all 4 of them and vice versa - right?
  25. Americans also buy SUVs 1/2 the time so there goes their credibility out the window..
