I agree with this 100%!!! Mate, there is a huge difference between being able to afford to buy a skyline and being able to afford to own a skyline. If you cant afford insurance, 98 rom fuel, parts or quality oils and stuff approx every 5000kms for a car like this, DONT GET IT!!!! These cars have a strong following and will be popular for years to come, so you will be able to get one when you can afford/handle one of them. Dont start at the top mate, I'm pretty sure that the F1 race car drivers didnt start their racing careers in F1, they mostly start out on go-karts and stuff. If you get a normal car to start out with, and then step up to a Skyline you really will appreciate what you 've got all the more when you do get it. And, if your unfortunate enough to have some minor misshaps early in your driving career, you WILL be thankful that you only have to fork out for repairs to the cheap car rather than having a Skyline repair bill. If your only just getting your "P" plates that prob means that your young and dont have the greatest income in the world, and not that much driving experience under your belt to control one of these cars properly. Prob the two worst things that a Skyline owner can have is a lack of driving experience and lack of money. You must have at least half a brain because you had enough sence to ask this question to right people to start with here on SAU. Do yourself a favour mate and get another car first to cut your teeth on, make sure it is rear wheel drive that way at least you are getting the right experience rather than eventually getting out of a front wheel drive car to a rear wheel drive Skyline. But, if you insist. Try "Torque Car Insurance" or "Vigil Car Insurance" they are without a doubt the best that i have come across. My Skyline is with TORQUE and my wifes Skyline is with VIGIL, both good. I got my licence as soon as I could mate and I'm now 34. I've driven trucks, cars, forklifts and all sorts of stuff. I bought my skyline 2 years ago and I still have all the respect in the world for it, as do alot of my friends who own Skylines aswell. In wet or dry conditions these cars demand respect because the minute that you dont respect them, you'll quickly find yourself either be out of pocket for repairs or a leading story on the six o'clock news. PS. Sorry for the long winded post that tells you what you prob didnt want to hear but all the best mate with whatever you decide.

Just read this thread from start to finish. For crying out loud people, if you could afford to buy a skyline thats great but if you cant afford to RUN a skyline then you prob shouldnt have bought one in the first place! Is the money that everyone is trying to save worth risking your pride and joy exploding without warning and righting off your car??? Yes some people have fitted these clutches with success and thats great but I have to agree with WRRR, BUYER BEWARE!!! So, does everyone put standard unleaded in their cars or do we put in 98 ROM? Penny pinching on a car like a skyline is just stupid, you get what you pay for in this world, and less headaches for it.

Get a S2 wing Brett! Keep it all in proportion. If you look at a car and the first thing that catchs your eye is the wing or a stupidly big front bar that dwarfs everything else on the car, its fair to say its not the complete package. You want people to look at your car and say "dam that's a nice skyline", not "jesus, check out the wing on that thing"! Front bar, that matches side skirts, that matches the rear bar with a matching wing = JOY!!!! My 20 cents anyway!!!!

Glad you enjoy the cruz Johnno, we have plenty of little twisty roads just out of our local area. I didnt know that they had tarred that road we went on tonight, last time i went up there alot of it was dirt road. Michael who was leading tonight is the man, he lives up that way and he would prob know all the cool roads to go on. No worries for the pics mate, i'd like to do some more pics on future cruzs but it takes a bit of time to set stuff up sometimes. I dont just take pics for the hell of it, i try to do good ones if i can set them up right but i'm just learning to get some good ones, glad you liked them antway and i'll post some more soon. Oh, and remember to checkout that A-LSD thats for sale, if that guy has still got the pump and everything on his car its def worth chasing upmate. Cheap, Cheap, Cheap!!!!
