  1. With fords wihdrawing thier funding to BJR i suppose Holden are throwing BJR a lifeline (I still cant fathom why....maybe to boost holden numbers on the Grid...and Walky would be pocketing something along the way) It will be interesting to see how Kim goes when he gets ordered around by Walky and the gang...knowing Kim he wont be able to kkep his mouth shut ha ha
  2. I think the McConville thing is a done deal. Thompsons taking over that seat next yeat at SCAR. Why Holden would want to affiliate with BJR stuns me....
  3. dude dodge the Clevo they are much heavier at 550lb (250kg)
  4. Top Loader would be Ok...but Tremec are way better and newer I think from memory 289/302 Windsor weighs 460lb complete and the later model 5L Windsor about 440lb
  5. Alonso to renault for 2008
  6. Fair enough....it sounds like an interesting project and seeing you already have the 302 why not hey. It would be interesing to see how much heavier a 302 really is compared to an RB...and your spot on there is nothin wrong with a 5 Liter Ford...we get 625hp out of ours...not bad for 7500 rpm limited on pump premium
  7. dont worry about that within reason...when mine was a street car I ran 275/40 rear and 245/45 front and never had a problem
  8. an iron block 5 Litre in a R32 might not be your best choice, if you not scared to change brand names for a transplant why not a 1UZFE...cheap as chips to buy and you get a much better V8 (6 bolt mains etc)
  9. Its sad but true .....the Skyline is the torana of the 2000's. evry one wants to race you and the cops hate you....thats why my one and only remaining GTR is track car only...much less grief that way
  10. Still an SS + 50K wont get you within 3 sec of a V8SC at Bathurst, you obviousl dont know what race components cost, 50K would just cover your 355mm Brembos/calipers and a set of Penske shocks and a few little bits and pieces and you would still be a long way off havn a 2:10 sec car at Bathurst ....anyway I doubt if there is anyone on this forum who could get within 3 secs in a V8SC (maybe a hand full but not many)Id be really impressed if any one here could jump straight into a V8SC and get straight into the 2:10 sec region...
  11. u better be comn up here ha ha
  12. a 9 on low mounts in truly incredible
  13. If you think you could get within 3 secs of a V8SC at Bathurst in a 50K SS Commodore you are fkn dreaming Floyd in his HSV GTS VY Series II in the performance car series laps around 2:29 and that thing owes him 100K
  14. Yep finally a voice of reason and knowledge I have worked in motrsport for longer than I care to remember and I cut my teeth in the early 90's on a Morris BMW and let me tell you the V8SC of today are light years ahead of the semi amatuer stuff that was racing in the 90's and that includes the GTRs. I have been under Skaifes/Richards Winfield car and some of the componetry on that car was average at best...and thats not a critism of the car or team...that was just where technology and engineering was at in Australia during that time.
  15. ha ha seeing Honda and Renault make F1 cars YES...and Technically Renault own a major share of Nissan
  16. The GT300 cars are around 12-13 seconds slower than a GT500 car around Suzuka. Example of lap times from top 5 cars in each catagory GT500 1'52.663 GT300 2'04.590 So if a GT500 car is 7 secs quicker than a V8 Supercar around somewhere like Qld Raceway and Suzuka is 5.8km long and Qld Raceway is 3.12 km well using rough simple maths that puts the the GT300 and V8 Supercars real close on lap times I forgota McLaren F1 does Suzuka in 1:31....kinda puts it all in perspective...tin tops are slow ha ha
  17. True about the GT500 cars Like I said the ZENT Supra lapped Qld raceway in 1:02 and the top V8 guys go around in the high 1:09's....but once again not a relevant comparison as the Gt500 cars are an open silhouette class and the V8 are far more restricted....heres a good comparison...the 5L ford/chev V8 makes around 620-640 Hp and the 4.5L 3UZFE in the GT500 Supra made around 530-550 Hp
  18. They wernt as expensive as other components , just some very clever in house engineering from a few teams. But it depends what u call expensive... when teams are happy to pay 110k per engine its all relative hey. I dont think many peeps on this forum would even dream of spending 500K on a BF or VE plus factoring in 80-100K on top per round
  19. good work...i hope it goes well
  20. The reason so much is spent on the V8s is one, its ultra competitve and teams with the cash will spend it to gain the extra 10th of a second, and racing componentry is massively expensive. Road car mods are cheap as chips compared to what a race team spends. The brakes, gearbox, and shocks in one of our V8 supercars is worth more than my whole modded 32GTR owes me (and its a lot). Id luv to write out a price list here to give peeps an idea but i wont....most of you would sht yourselfs at the costs and it would change you whole perspective on the cost of your road cars mods. A more relevant comparison would be to compare the new GTR to other expensive road/race cars...id luv to see a 07 GTR in the GT champoinship next year to compare it to the Lambo's and Ferrari's and Porsche's...but I dont think that will happen any time soon
  21. dude you could spend 15k just on the brakes alone depending how crazy you want to go. All I was saying is spending that amount of coin on a 320 is not sound advice
  22. I dont want to hoon...I do all my stuff on the track where it belongs ..I couldnt give a sht what I drive on the street. Ive been to these things b4 only to get ambushed pulled over by the waiting cops up the road.
  23. with that C.O.M.E 355 in it do it
  24. Safety cars are no big problem......it gave us an extra lap in saved fuel before we had to pit...quite handy really
  25. cheap early model 32 GTR's are usually a money pit thats why peeps dodge them like the plauge, thers lots that can go wrong on a GTr and none of it is cheap to fix...if you went out and grabbed a 18k 89 GTR your a big chance of spending more than half again on repairs in a short amount of time
