The most important thing when buying a GTR is mechanical condition and general overall condition...look underneath for under body damage...these things get picked up in Japan by forklifts and it fks the underside. There are many complex and very expensive parts to consider their condition on a GTR. A non rebuilt engine(still factory internals) will fail under extra boost...most common problem especially in the older GTR's (R32 1989-1994)is bearings spinning requiring bottom end rebuild. A basis RB26 rebuild will set you back 7K minimum (more of course depending on mods). I have owned plenty and brought in plenty and it would take me hours to explain the pit falls of these things if your not familiar with them. Take along an expert if you are inspecting one. edit- the bottom line is these things are expensive to maintain and insure and if something does go wrong you will be running for the bank manger....you need to have at 10k extra in your bank account after you purchase one.
