-
didnt you read the special features part of your owners manual, you paid for all those problems, you and 90 percent of the other people foolish enough to buy a new falcon just keep booking it back into your delearship and it will all get fixed under waranty sooner or later

every thing he just said is right if you want a real car stick to your skylines. i work for ford and work on a least one xr6 turbo each day and i can tell you, your beter off without one. the skyline was a better built car for starters and id love to do a quality comparison between my car and an xr6 turbo but i would probably loose my job. just remember that the japanese take pride in there work expecialy when it comes to designing and building motor vehicles and i can tell you from experience that the austalian car companys dont even come close and to answer your question they handle like crap

Help - How to tell if the Auto box is slipping?
DRFTR33 replied to nedb's topic in General Automotive Discussion
what was happening when you had your foot on the accelerator and the brake was called stall speed, its perfectly normal its the maximum speed the impeller can turn while the turbine is stationary in the torque converter never do that for more than five seconds because the transmision oil get pretty toasty what you have effectivly done there is perfored what is called a stall test what you want to look for is if the reves flare up past stall speed then you have a slipping transmision also when your driving it hard if the revs shoot up all of a sudden and it doesnt produce any power thats the same thing hope this was helpfull -
Power FC surging/hunting idle after warm up
DRFTR33 replied to maximajim's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the problem you are having sounds like a badly adjusted throtle position sensor, who did the install also check your idle speed on your power fc if it is to high you will hit the idle limiter and it will also do the exact same thing you are explaining -
if your running a standard ecu it feels just like your boost cut and if you havnt hit that yet, it feels like your going to be thrown though your front windscreen, its a very sudden jolt. thats the best way i can explain it

my airflow meter maxed out at 12psi and i was making just over 200kw there are alot of things that you have to take into acount you have to remember that hot wire air flow meters work by heating the little wire in side, when air passes over it, it changes the resistance in the wire so it takes more voltage to heat it and thats the signal that is send back to the ecu. once the voltage reaches 5.13 volts it cant heat the wire anymore and that is when you are maxed out air density(temperature) plays a big part in this as colder air will cool the wire easyer that i why mine maxed out at around 12psi and some of you guys can run up to 14 psi without a problem i hope this has helped you

dude you have no idea what your getting yourself into i acually did part of my aprenticeship in a garage were we did alot of performance work on nissans and mazdas its not usualy easy to get a position in a workshop dealing with performance cars and fabrication but if you think your good enough go for it, its the most rewarding part of the trade but in ten years you wont be doing what you expect. i thought i was going to be working on sweet peformance cars forever, but now i work on stock standard fords i could be wrong, this is just what happened to me working on cars for a living ruins a good hobbie

this guy is my hero, i should go out and forget everything i know and start beleaving everything he says

look the world is full of guys like this i hope every one has noticed that he seems to like to call people gay alot and you will find that people who who do that alot are actually gay themselves but thats ok with me just sounds like hes not alright with it and did he mention how much money he has spent on this super fast holden iv worked on a wide rage of cars since i started swinging spanners and its so easy to see the diference in quality between australian and japanese cars. its all up to personal taist, if you want style, good technology and an overall nice car then drive a skyline. or on the other hand if you belive that its still ok to make a vehicle in 2005 with a pushrod V8 designed in america 50 years ago then by all means drive a holden and enjoy it for all i care just dont come on our forums making coments about things you know nothing about this is just my oppion but id say i know a little more than this bloke

anyone know any mad places that take apprenices??
DRFTR33 replied to autochik89's topic in General Automotive Discussion
if i had left it early i probably couldnt do half the stuff i can now and i wouldnt know as much either it would have taken a lot longer to learn these skills just doing it as a hobby. i admit this but i dont think that the skills make up for everything that the trade takes away. i probably shouldnt say dont do it im just warning you about what the trade can do to some people. if your iterested there are alot of books with everything your gonna need to know anyway if you decide to go ahead with the trade. read the books while your still in school and if your still hell bent on it, go for it. it is a good idea to give yourself as many options as possible and talk to more people in the trade and see how its going for them -
really depends on how much you wanna spend try an after market exhaust, cold air induction and a front mount intercooler if your just starting out. then when you have a bit more cash get a decent boost controller and an after market ecu

Whirring noise from the front of my car (R32 GTS-t)
DRFTR33 replied to Rayage's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
one thing i have found when the belt is fitted you sometimes get a bit of coolant on them if the water pump got replace and this causes a strange noise when it dries out and the residue is left on the belt. it only takes the smallest amout and the noise takes a while to start. what you can do is take out one of the top cam belt cover bolts and spray a SMALL amount of sylicone lube in there and that will stop it if thats your problem -
anyone know any mad places that take apprenices??
DRFTR33 replied to autochik89's topic in General Automotive Discussion
if i were you i would listen to what most of these people are saying. its the whole automotive trade, its built on treating people like dirt and paying them nothing. i was lucky i finnished school so im not stuck in it, as soon as i can im out of it for good it just ruins a good hobby. try and prove me wrong if you like -

take the advice from the others on this forum, stay in school man, get a job that pays real money and has benifits. i used to works at a really good workshop on good cars but youd be surprised how fast it all goes to hell and you find yourself working on crap for no money. -
HOLY CRAP!!! questions raised over p-plate statistics.
DRFTR33 replied to 78vbsle's topic in General Automotive Discussion
you will find all the statistics you are seeing about this issue are all false. statistics are the easyest thing to fake, all the government is trying to do is give everyone an enemy to hate, and lets face it we the drivers of performance car are the easyest to blame because everyone else already hates us to start with. by giving everyone an enemy it hides the fact that they dont really give a damn about saving lives, instead they sit back looking at adds for houses and boats that they will spend all our hard earned money they take from us in revenue. they wont save any lives but at least they will be happy you can say im wrong but that is my opinion -
i didnt damage any paint work when i removed my wing it is possible just be carefull
-
yeah i have mine off now. It can be hard to take the wing off on r33s because they have some extra plastic fasteners holding it down. take care when pulling it off because you are more likly to destroy the wing rather than your paint work and you will get left with a few holes too

HELP!!! Skyline Doesnt Like Mornings...
DRFTR33 replied to Sik_Sky's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
are you saying when you turn the key in the morning it seems like the engine is strugling to turn over. if thats whats happening its your battery. give more info if you want help -
on top of what these guys have told you, you should also run colder spark plugs. i recomend NGK irraway 7s, it is also a good idea to get an after market fuel pump, just to be safe.

Good Advice? or just nagging idiots?
DRFTR33 replied to The Dan's topic in General Automotive Discussion
people are always going to have a go at you for the choices you make. its up to you weather you take notice of what they say. buying a skyline is the best thing i ever did, even though im lucky to still have a licence and still be alive...at least its safer than a motor cycle
