You can sell bits off the car to get money back into the budget, but if you sell the whole car and start again you'll be starting with a clean slate of $2000. Mine cost me $1400 and so far I have sold just over $1000 worth off stuff from it, meaning it's effective cost was only $400 (sans wheels and diff, since I sold those ). So if you can sell some stuff off yours you'll be laughing.
