  1. You could try renting one, may be a little pricey tho. Unfortunatly the one i have has a three phase motor.
  2. I'm suffering a simalar flat spot, after installing an EBC. I'm only running 9PSI but it gets there much quicker than before. I'm guessing the computer sees AF/RPM. so in the mid-range where the boost is incresced it plays up but then over 4500RPM things are just about back to normal so she takes off again. Well that's my theory........ I'm hoping that playing around with the gain will help, if not i will be searching for a vacuum/pressure leak, and then look to the computer. Besides i don't have any money to buy a computer just yet!
  3. I would gesss that most ball bearing turbos would have a small amount of pre-load in the bearing so that when it has been run for a while it comes within optimum tolerance. Heat would also play a factor as only .01mm difference would be needed to dramatically change how well it would spin.
  4. Red=racy Black= Classy Just my opinion, depends what look you want to go for
  5. Just got a quote through Shannons, $4k+ cos i haven't had much insurance in the past. Went to Just Cars (owned by the same people) they base their premiums on the total time you've been driving, not the number of years you've had insurance for. It's gonna cost just under $1k as they will put me strait to rating1. The excess' are a little more but if i don't crash i'll be fine! They also accomodate for unlimited modifications, as long as they are legal. I think they are one of the better ways to go if you haven't had much insurance in the past.
  6. I'd get the engine out and apart so you can see what you're dealing with, then go from there. I wouldn't think it would be worth selling.
  7. If you take the vin number into a nissan dealer, or call them up, they should be able to tell you every part that went on your car.
  8. It has a pressure line into the control box. I think that has to be mounted in the car, but i'm not sure
  9. Hi, I'm just wondering the best way to run wires from the engine bay into the car. I was thinking i could try and run them with the computer wireing harness but was unsure if this is the best way? By the way i'm installing a Blitz SBC-ID boost controller so i think i have to run a pressure line in also. Thanks in advance
  10. I may be mistaken but i don't think there are too many sensors that come from the bottom end. things like crank ange etc are up the top so you should be able to use all standard sensors and therefore the standard power fc, with adjustment, would work fine.
  11. they charged me $66, unfortunatly i didn't hold off till i read your post!!!
  12. All fixed!!! Got a coil from jaustech last week, thanks anyway.
  13. Has anyone in SA got a good coil pack they'd like to sell me or knows where i can get one. I had one S*** itself. i want splitfires but i can't afford them just now
  14. I've heard that the open days are a little dangerous with everyone allowd on the track at once, and not the propper marshalling. I'm just realaying what someone relayed to me so who knows how accurate it is, damb chinese whispers
  15. ok, put new plugs in tonight, the missing isn't as bad now. i think this could be due to me regapping the new plugs down to .8, the old ones were 1.1. So it looks like it was the coils after all. I managed to pick up a bit more boost too, i must have sealed a leak when i was re-attaching everything. Does anyone know where to get some spitfire coils in Australia at a reasonable price? I know there is a group buy but my car is a daily driver and i don't want to have to wait that long.
  16. i'm glad i got my dump from CES then. Sounds like you got a raw deal, did they do anything about it?
  17. yes, i have only seen mine on the car, not off but from what i can see the quality is good, welds are clean, sections line up nicely. i have a CES twin dump/front pipe which dips down slightly then back up to the cat. This is the lowest point on the system. Sorry, i didn't explain properly. By nicer i was refering to the fit of the system with everything tucked up under the car. I have heard plenty of people who have been dissapointed with custom systems, but i have been more than happy with the work i have had done, both on my skyline and on my old car(V8 Torana) I guess it all boils down to the guy doing the job.
  18. will be pulling the plugs later today. i have platnums in there , if i think one could possibly be a little fowled i'll put a brand new set of coppers in. the boost is standard, i have just hardwired the standard high/low solenoid. as for the revs, it has an occasional mis around 3000 and it's really bad around 4000. i tried driving through the miss but it is the same up higher
  19. Personally i'd get a custom one. They don't hang anywhere near as low as a mass produced Jap made one. These are made to miss everything by miles so if a flange isn't quite square it doesn't matter. I had one done by D&T Exhausts here in Adelaide (cat and cat back) 3inch mandrel bent stainless. When you look under the car the lowest point is the dump pipe, everything is tucked up and looks much nicer than any Jap exhausts i have seen. Has a really nice note too
  20. I went out for a spin last night, everything was running sweet for half an hour or so untill all of a sudden the car started missing under load, basically as soon as it makes more than 4psi. It was like someone flicked a switch! I have read thousands of posts about plugs and coils but i'm not sure this is the same thing. The car is a R33 Series 1. Stock except for:- 3 inch turbo back exhaust K&N filter eliment Boost solinoid set to permanent high boost All mods have done over 20000KM The problem missing when under load/boosting more than 4psi(approx), runs smooth off boost, even at higher revs as long as it's not boosting Does a coil pack or plugs go off this quickly or should i be looking for something else. It was running fine, then three seconds later it was running like shit! Any help very much appreciated
  21. Has anyone had any expirience with water to air intercoolers here? I'm just weighing up my intercooling options and was wondering about their pros and cons. Any help appreciated Thanks Aaron
  22. I have a CES twin dump/frount pipe, ceramic coated etc. Got it off a group buy on this forum, very happy with it and it made a good gain on my stocky R33
  23. Try this tread. It has alot of info and even some base settings Click Me
  24. I had a clunking noise in my steering colum/wheel. turned out to be a vibration dampener in the wheel itself. Basically just a weight suspended on 4 thin pieces of rubber. The guys at the nissan dealership took it out for me. I didn't even notice a differance(besides the clunk being gone)! I did try to get a replacement from nissan but that part comes with the steeringwheel and i wasn't gonna pay $1600 for that. BTW i have a S1 R33 with airbag wheel
