  1. This is most likely metal on metal contact that goes away once oil pressure gets up to speed after starting. My spun bearing did this at startup for the first 3 odd months before the ticking began from about 2000-3500rpm which would have been load / oil flow related. Higher up in the rev range there must have been enough oil flow to separate the bearing and journal again. Again I say spun, but what I had was actually just the beginning before it actually spun and seized the engine. Engine was ripped out and rebuilt before it had the chance to go all the way.
  2. True this - very important the actuators are configured consistently across both turbos.
  3. Look at that wheel explode!
  4. The actuator rods have a thread on them so you can tighten / loosen them. This would be the first place to look. Try tightening them up by screwing the end on so the total rod length is shorter. This means the actuator needs to see more boost before it starts opening the wastegate up further.
  5. Not sure what you will make - not too familiar with GTS25t's but $1500 sounds pretty reasonable to me to install and tune all that stuff if that includes the guages. The powerFC simply plugs in in place of the stock computer, the boost controller and pod filters are easy to install. The guages you dont need to up the power. You could install it all yourself and then get a tow truck to Chasers / Status etc for a tune. You don't want to cheap out on a tune, you want to take it to someone that has experience.
  6. Spun bearing - mine sounded exactly the same just quieter. Mine went quiet at around 3500rpm. I thought is was a noisy injector or a belt for ages - drove for 6 months with it happening - not a daily though just weekends. Nothing changed drivability wise. It hadn't actually spun yet just started to pick up on the crank. Photo of the bearing in my build thread. You are best not running your engine at all otherwise you will end up ruining salvagable parts of the engine. If you want to confirm before you start pulling engines down get an oil analysis done.
  7. Ha yeah been there done that - in conjunction with the tiny tank u pretty much live at the petrol station with an Evo7.
  8. Ha yes I think this is the normal mindset of a GTR owner! I wouldn't say you are not crazy, more that near every other GTR owner is as crazy as you are. They are not very practical day to day. As soon as you need to carry something - say a set of rims you have no choice but to stick some in the passenger seats. I decided that there was no way I was ever going to sell my GTR, so I have made sure I have a good place to store it and I have a sh!tbox utility to drive as a daily. It's the best feeling being able to leave your daily wherever you want and not have to worry what happens to it. It has four doors, can tow the GTR and a tray for carting parts around. Although - and this is where the crazy comes in - now my car is going to be so nice once finished... I am already pondering an R34 GTR rolling shell to build up for track / rally bashing. I don't think it will ever end.
  9. Mate who gives a flying fark what anyone else thinks! I think the moral of your story is dont talk to d!ck#eads.
  10. A mate of mine had this happen in front of him. Train didn't finish him off, ambulance was called, my mate and another guy got down and gathered him up and a few other bits and got him up on the platform for the ambos. Said it was totally horrific as you would expect.
  11. First set of R comps here (A050) so I asked the question when buying them. Was told to just warm up in the first session to around 8/10th's as most people do and it will be adequate. Also a quick 10-15 minute drive out on the street if road drivable would do the trick. Idea is just to introduce heat into the tyre gradually. Not sure if full slicks are a different story however.
  12. Not just attend - I believe he came through first on every stage?
  13. Does he mean the cam covers?? Sad to see your selling this Matt 'tis a thing of beauty.
  14. Oh s#it yeah and fruity lexia!!
  15. I always found that funny - the only thing that comes in 5lt is that el cheapo watered down fruit drink shite. Juice and milk rock! Also the "classic not plastic" one... if I actually cared I would whack a "fast not slow" sticker on in response.
  16. I'm paid up here too last week.
  17. Awesome. Always wanted to stick a big motor in one of those old datto's. The SR20 should be lighter being an alloy block, but has a few weaknesses in the rocker arms, timing chain etc but won't be a problem at stockish power levels. How about a CA18DET? Might be a good option.
  18. No good. So are you determined to keep going with this one or can you just switch back to the std one? Sounds a bit like good money after bad.
  19. Fresh set of yokies went on rims yesterday so can now be used to measure and keep rolling to a minimum. Don't forget 185 semi's for da fulli sick tyre stretch!
  20. I think you mean not immature enough? Welcome to SAU Miss_R34 - you might need thick skin around here these days...
  21. Single turbo I assume - is that in stainless? I very much see the point for getting it locally made by someone that knows what they are doing. There are many that don't, and usually the ones that will do it for next to nix. I like the idea of HKS or Midori, or Racepace for that matter, in that it's likely undergone enough design and testing in-house before it made it to your car. It's the little things getting custom work that *can* come back to bite you - cracks, vibration on other parts etc. Can quickly make the $300-400 difference in price no longer worth it. The custom front pipe on my old Evo use to knock on the underbody bracing a little when turning right... pi$$ed me right off.
  22. Yeah I knew I had seen that somewhere - was just hoping that BB was referring to a different version as he mentioned there being 2 back in a previous post. Sorry for the thread hijack guys, it is kinda related anyway - determining the biggest off the shelf front half exhaust.
  23. Nah they are the HKS dumps, it's the HKS front pipes that I am trying to confirm specs on - same deal nobody lists it.
  24. Yeah I have never had a problem with Nengun orders not showing up. They always arrived just never quicker than 4 weeks for me. And I ordered hheeeeaps of stuff off them over a few years. This was back around 2007-2008. Rhdjapan has gone out of their way to find me tiny oddball parts - very happy with them.
