Yeah you see as much as I agree with a lot of what the fine is about, I have a problem with over controlling council and state governments. Just the sheer number of fines that you can rack up these days just trying to enjoy life, parking restrictions etc way too harsh. It really does infringe on getting out and amongst it - easier to stay home which isn't healthy.

Hehe I never smoked in my skyline, but back then I cared about my POS ET pulsar, and was more than willing to cop burns to my legs and clothes to save my beloved seats from a ciggy burn.
-
Aw come on ben, not even something like this?
-
I used to smoke when I was younger - more than willing to admit in a car it's dangerous. Your distracted, finding your pack, dropping one and reaching around under the seat, getting your lighter out of your pocket, using the lighter with accuracy = eyes off the road. Once I had an unlit smoke in my mouth for too long it stuck to my lip without me realising, I lit it, went to pull it out of my mouth it stayed and I knocked the lit tip off the end which stuck to my finger and burned me badly and was well distracted - still have a big scar it burned me pretty deep. While I realise this makes me sound like the clumsiest person around, every other smoker I know has a few of these stories and that's all it takes. As for passive smoking - once you give it up you realise just how filthy it is and how uncomfortable it makes every non-smoker around you.

Boost Control Issue On Rb26 With -7's
paulR32gtr replied to snozzle's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah definitely better doing it while monitoring AFR's especially up around the 300rwkw mark with stock injectors and afms. Did you have a chat with the tuner about it? -
Boost Control Issue On Rb26 With -7's
paulR32gtr replied to snozzle's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I don't have a boost controller at all - 1 bar HKS actuators that come with GT-SS's, or Garrett make an equivalent, hook up to the standard solenoid pipeing / hoses just run a little air bleed hole back over where the stock solenoid is to up the boost as desired. Has a perfect boost curve ~16/17psi. I know it sounds really ghetto but believe me you will waste half your life trying to get an EBC to do exactly what you want. Saying that- BWRGTR is right - try running your EBC as close to the actuators as possible and then tinker tinker tinker. -

Limp....now Waiting For Diagnostic

Ahh the joys of owning a rare import! I am not surprised they are claiming "because it's an import" we can't help as much - its been a policy of Nissans to stonewall imports when it comes to parts and service. All the data out of those ports is pretty standard these days, and they should be able to get their hands on basic information from JP pretty easily. I would get it to someone non-nissan that has had some experience with them. -
Their adjustable range is stated as 0.8kg/cm2 - 1.6kg/cm2 - about 11psi to 22psi. Not sure why you are only getting half a bar - you may be right there might have been a different series. So maybe set them to about the middle of their adjustability - and run them up on the dyno cautiously. I've never changed them on the vehicle before but can't be too hard to get to.... surely
-
The actuators that come with the actual HKS GT-SS kit are 1bar / ~15psi - are these the actuators you have - with the HKS logo on them? Also - agreed with nismoid - set them to the high boost and be done with it.
-
I used to have an avc-r, then it was removed and replaced with an ally pipe with a hole drilled in it. Holds boost better than that thing ever did or will.

Should I Sell My Car Or Will I Regret It?
paulR32gtr replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in General Automotive Discussion
You will regret it. My car has been off the road for about 3-4 months and I am going nuts. I had an Evo7 as a daily driver but to be honest, even regardless of it's gravity defying drivetrain, and that is was likely faster through the corners than my skyline, it was boring! It wasn't hard to give it up for a towcar. My vote, seeing you spent so much money, and if you have the space, keep driving it until you are in a position to get your daily wrx, and keep it for the track. -
This thread has me interested. I am putting in a PWR crossflow 55mm soon, with a 16" spal fan (http://www.spalusa.com/store/Main.aspx?p=itemdetail&item=30102050). It also has an oil cooler build in to the end tank so will be taking a bit of extra loading from the engine. Its not going to be driven on the road so not worried too much about traffic jams, but interested to see if it is going to be enough of a solution if left to idle on a hot day.

I Bought A Car
paulR32gtr replied to Mr Eps's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
One turbo short of a car , but looks really nice - those IS F tips really pimp it up. I used to love Soarers then they just got old and tired looking, but this one has rekindled the passion - nice work. -
I am chasing an R32 GTR Dash - just the main part, don't need the centre console or guage cluster. Reasonable condition but doesn't matter if it has bubbles in the usual spot. Cheers.
-
I know with the R32 GTR boost guage it has its own map sensor on the drivers side corner of the firewall - if same for the 33 you need this and that associated loom. What other guages does it have in the 33? Battery volts? That one should be pretty easy just test it with a multimeter and maybe a 9v battery or something you might just be able to wire it (fused) to the electrical system.

I think what Duncan mentioned is pretty key - get them balanced locally by a professional if you are going to get one. psi - did your mate do this? I personally don't want one if they can't even balance them correctly from their factory - doesn't say much for the manufacturing processes and quality control in place.
-
Yeah just file it flat on opposite sides and use a big shifter spanner ... don't know about using it again though!

Which Motorsport Rules Need To Be Followed?
paulR32gtr replied to Duncan's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Im halfway between 2 and 3 - mechanical replacement is pretty important for me - car is getting really old and reliability an issue. Would never be fun taking a car home on a trailer due to ~20yo parts failing if a newer replacement was available that gave no performance enhancement. Damo - I guess if the PPG gear set is the same ratio's as the standard box thats when I think it should be ok. At the end of the day the event is about the times, and a car at a rules compliant performance level, laying down times achievable with OEM parts, but using aftermarket parts for reliability / repeatability should be ok in my book. Its almost as if you need specific rules for each model based on its reliability problems.
