Been talk about this in another thread. Can't you just get an old blown turbo, rip out the wheels and shaft, find a suitable bolt / nut / washers and put that through in it's place. Carry a heap of photos of the changeover on your phone for the cops - the car is still going to have GTS25t badges on it so they are going to pull you regardless. Let them drive it if they really don't believe you...
-
Just curious - why were you looking for a workshop other than Racepace? Did Benno shake his head at you?

Converting A Turbo R33 To N/a Non Turbo !?
paulR32gtr replied to coco's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Legally as per the OP's comments - couldn't you just get an old blown turbo - rip out the wheels and shaft and stick a bolt in it's place? It is essentially the same thing as messing around with NA manifolds etc That way your P plater purchaser could then just put a good turbo back on once they are off there P's. -
Sounds like damage control from Nissan. Would surely cost them a considerable amount to replace everyones seats, and even then it is still going to be the same problematic leather.
-
Stop whining - rip them out and put some real seats in there!! Just joking - looks terrible... good point Vija about 08/09's

Replacing Brake Lines
paulR32gtr replied to ali-turko's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You would be way better off sticking with the hard lines - unless they are in poor condition? So the internal diameter is 3mm bigger? -
Brake Master Cylinder Rebuild
paulR32gtr replied to paulR32gtr's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Awesome - yeah that was my next question... "there must be someone that ships this stuff straight out of jp without the standard oooh thats an import Nissan Oz markup" Cheers. -
Brake Master Cylinder Rebuild
paulR32gtr posted a topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I need to rebuild my brake master cylinder. Just priced up the piston rebuild kit from Nissan.. $225, or $750 for the entire unit For anyone who has pulled one apart - how hard is it to just replace the o-ring seals? Are they standard off the shelf items? I doubt there is any problem with the actual pistons themselves to warrant new ones. -
R32 Gtr: Very Difficult To Select Gears
paulR32gtr replied to omega36's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sorry I mean't that the pedal was a little crunchy, almost like you could feel something was wrong with the slave / fork. Was hard to get in to first, second and reverse as the clutch was not disengaging properly. -
Tyre Set-ups On Big Power Set-ups
paulR32gtr replied to Tomek's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah definitely not a great track tire... Maybe some R888's or RA1's Do you have two sets of rims? This is something I need to tackle soonish, another set of 18x9's and some tarmac rally rubber. Have tried the Bridgestone RE55s SR2 (I think - slightly older tread pattern than the current model) at ~300rwkw and they were fantastic, but barely lasted through targa - really noticed a big drop off in grip by day 4. They were around $500 a corner I think. -
R32 Gtr: Very Difficult To Select Gears
paulR32gtr replied to omega36's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Nah the clutch was in good condition, was not too old and didn't go out in the usual way. It was either air in the fluid or the clutch fork & pivot were not aligned properly causing the crunch, and ultimately caused the pivot to fail. 600hp eh... yeah I imagine you would move through clutches fairly regularly. Better than gearboxes or driveshafts. -
Tyre Set-ups On Big Power Set-ups
paulR32gtr replied to Tomek's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I put some Toyo T1R's on recently in 245/40 on R34 18x9s - were not too bad at the start. My suspension was shot so fixed all that up rear cradle off new bushes everywhere, new arms, bars etc and all the camber caster etc set up. Still wasn't overly impressed with them - but just over the past few weeks they have really started to get better and better as they have worn in. They are now freaking amazing in the wet - I think they grip better than when it's dry!! Went up out the back of Healsville yesterday through a good 10km of 80km/h tight twisty rally esque back road and they did not skip a beat on wet, sometimes raining road. Put the 300 odd kw down without a question. In the dry they are still reasonable, but the rubber is quite firm so they are not going to be overly impressive - will last longer though so fit in with a limited budget. Great mid-performance tyre for the price. -
R32 Gtr Clutch Fail .....
paulR32gtr replied to deathseeker's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Does the pedal feel normal? If pedal feels normal and you are getting a burning smell then it is most likely a completely destroyed clutch plate - so yes new clutch / machine flywheel time. -
R32 Gtr: Very Difficult To Select Gears
paulR32gtr replied to omega36's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I had a similar problem with my previous clutch. I had a leaking slave cylinder so had that replaced. When they installed it they didn't bleed the clutch fluid properly, I noticed it was a little crunchy on the way home when I picked it up but kinda came and went. Had zero time to do it myself, and the workshop were too far away, so kept driving, clutch pedal kept getting heavier and heavier, hard to get into gears sometimes. Clutch wore out as it wasn't disengaging completely, then pivot ball snapped and fell out the bottom one day. New clutch for me. Had a lot of other stuff being done around the same time so new clutch made sense anyway - thats how I justify it.... -
Brake Lines, What To Do.
paulR32gtr replied to phat_man's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cross-drilled brake lines - now I have heard it all... -
I wish - nah I meant in 2008. Timing was all wrong for this year but next is going to be a ripper. Yeah shame - we had a ball that day, even though we had a small off. Steve managed to wrestle the fish tailing car down from about 180km/h, around a 9 corner, to gently dropping the front wheels into a ditch.
-
Did they do Reeces dam again this year? Was there similar carnage on that last stage as there was in 2008?
-
Loving the style points at 4:45 2-left at T-junction around the houses - even managed a wave for the kiddies! Looks very familiar - we drove the entire event on 2wd due to some wiring problems. My brakes arrive tomorrow can't wait, 1 step closer to 2010.

32 is the way to go for sure - but I don't think many GTR owners are happy with them stock for very long R34 wheels, semi-slicks, huge brakes, rebuild engine, gt-ss turbos, cam gears, exhaust, fuel pump, computer, oil cooler, new coilovers, adjustable everything suspension bushes and arms, sway bars, strut braces, replace every other destroyed bush in there, rip out the interior, roll cage, seats, fire extinguisher, 4wd controller (optional), then finish off with a nice suede steering wheel ... jeezuz Don't think for a second that your never going to see that money again because it will make you giggle like a little girl every time you shoot out the other side of a corner. If anything else breaks just rip it off

Fark snowman - was he just going for the dirt road or was it intentional? Remember hearing one farmer put oil all over one of the stages years back.

Tarmac Rallying Perpetual Thread
paulR32gtr replied to Marlin's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
We used these last year - http://www.blueant.com.au/interphone-motor...-helmet-kit.htm Worked well, gotta watch the battery life so off between stages but no problems hearing each other. Not sure if you dont have cavities around the ears though - sounds quite painful! -
Omp Racing Gear In Melbourne
paulR32gtr replied to paulR32gtr's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
damn... just bought a beautiful OMP 350mm suede wheel expensive... Thanks for the pointers guys -
Having trouble tracking down a retailer with good stock. Anyone know of a good OMP retailer in Melbourne? Failing that Australia?

Extreme jealousy towards all running, definitely not going to get over there this year. Was going to try and have my own 32 ready with my partner Kat co-driving, but we ended up sinking cash into less important things like property and what not - so it had to take a backseat. On the upside it means we can keep taking it slow, and sink another years worth of funds into prepping the car without cutting any corners. Beats the six weeks steve and I had to spend on his car last year! Looking forward to 2010 - will have to get out to some of the other events later on in this year when the car is ready. Good luck to all will be watching for good results
