Taken today in the harsh midday sun:
  5. So I came across another challenge: I photographed a wedding In Canberra yesterday for another member here and we didn't finish the ceremony at the chapel till 6pm. The bride and groom had a location in mind which was about 30mins away from the church. By the time I got in my car to head over the location spot it was already dark (that is no sun at all out). By the time we got there it was 6.30pm. The client wanted some shots of the big bell tower in the background so we headed to that spot. Its 6 degrees according to my iPhone app and very windy so you can imagine how cold it must have been. My hands got num instantly!! There is no lights coming from any buildings in the background etc etc. You wont be able to shoot this with high iso trust me. So here is what I did: Two lights. Einstein in beauty dish to light up everyone plus a bare 430exii in the back to separate the heads from the blacks. Just a random shot...Pretty much straight out of the camera. Just white balance correction, +5 contrast, +5 blacks.. +5 saturation. Thats it.

Thanks for the kind words Patty. I reckon that train shot is cool. Would be awesome if you do a long exposure with it and get the trains to be blury to show movement. Part 2 here if you keen: http://sidd-rishi.com.au/blog/2/tamara-graemes-wedding-at-shangri-la-resort-fiji-part-2/

Congrats once again dude Also loving those pics!!! Sunset in Canberra. Wait till you see the pic of the wedding couple in front of it
  21. Guests know that you are the main photographer so just make your way to the best spot and ask them to move. If its an elderly person then off-course don't be rude about it or use another angle. But yea a small step stool or a chair will help get higher ground, but do you really want to take pics from top down all the time. I still reckon you need to push your way to the front. I had a bit of a break at one of the weddings and I was chatting away to the video guy and he was saying that some of the guests at a recent wedding he was at were so rude and coming right up to the front of the bride and groom snapping away that it was actually stopping him from working. So he physically had to push them all back (in a nice way). But in the end he just refused to take video, told the bride and groom that this is not acceptable. The MC at that wedding was snapping away as well. The bride and groom were stunned.

A HDR pic of that tractor would be awesome Nice shots there richie.. You have improved heaps just recently!! Keep it up mate. Photo taken at 2.30am in the morning. Yup 2.30am This one was with a 5d2. I was using the 5d3 at the start but then for some reason I couldn't change the aperture lol. Turned the camera on and off but still couldnt change it. Change lenses thinking something was loose etc but still no luck. So grabbed my 5d2 instead. Next morning I realized the lock button was on hahahaha. I think the long day affected my thinking. But seriously no idea why canon put a lock button down the bottom. Who uses the lock button anyways??

Photographed a huge three day wedding in Canberra this Easter weekend. Groom is also fellow forum member here. Also gave me a chance to really test out the 5d3. Few issues with it, but overall seems like a great camera. 5d3, 135L, f2 I loved how the whole subject is in focus and super sharp. Pretty much straight out of the camera. Just increase in contrast, +5 in saturation, +5 clarity and that's it. Here is a 12800 ISO shots. No editing whats so ever. Handheld image in the pitch black and focus was so quick. exif should be intact: One more ISO 12800 shot. No editing, hand held shot. For websize you can hardly see any noise. But amazed at how quick the focus was in near pitch black conditions. Here is a 100% crop. Not to bad actually. I think there is about 1/2-1stop better in noise performance.
