  1. melbourne night life is rubbish these days... bring back the old days!
  2. it's a microtech, thats the problem heh.
  3. "I've had a problem with the gearbox for a while now, its crunches in 4th if I shift too quickly. Friday evening it had a nice big crunch. First time in months. I dont think thats the problem though since the lag is through all the gears. Even reverse. I've gotta rev the car to 3000 just to get out of the driveway. " Clutch sounds farked to me....
  4. it's not a misfire. if youre running standard ecu, 14 psi is too high and you are hitting fuel cut. lower the boost to about 11-11.5 and you'll be perfect. don't boot it too much either as you'll damage your rings while it does that.
  5. dude, don't get a new one... they're about $350 new from nissan. mine went, i got one from a wrecker for $70 bucks. good as gold.
  6. go the rb25, fits straight in. you can find one for about 800-1000 dollars. and factor in about 500 or so to put it in (if you remove the original motor yourself).
  7. brilliant! will add this to my bookmarks incase it happens to me.
  8. trent, that all depends on the extent of the damage i assume though? i mean it's gotten to the point now where i can hear the tapping coming from the lower timing cover... give it some revs and it sounds like a whining/tapping sound as the revs increase. any point in buying a new balancer and keys if i was to loctite everything? by the way is this stuff almost like a putty? fills in the gaps where the crank snout has been ground down?
  9. very common. 9 times out of 10 you dont even need to change rocker gaskets, just nip up the bolts. remember there are bolts under the coil pack cover too. after you've done that, a nice de-grease and check it after a few days see that it's not leaking again.
  10. still got the motor? how much? is it in car so i can comp. test it if you want to sell? cheers.
  11. sorry to whore thread, but my motor is screwed too.... harmonic balancer has worked its way loose over time... destroyed keyway on crank. no point in changing crank, may as well put new motor in mine too...

spotted omgtr on johnson st. collingwood today. nice 32 gtr.
  13. the car is a shitbox. not only has it been painted, but has according to the tester, bog on pretty much every panel. oil leaks, rust etc. i had my first r33 tested by stateroads, and i know how pedantic they are when they check. i looked at 6 before i found the one i bought. shop around mate, take your time and find something decent. thumbs down on this 180
  14. duty manager for coles.
  15. As topic states, I need an R33 rear strut brace. I am located in Melb. but will consider from other states too if postage isn't ridiculous on one of these things. Ta.
  16. Yeah let me know fellas when you want to go... We can try and hit em up for a cheaper price at once... Ric, I need to re-lip 2 of my rims, and while they're at it paint them. I'm thinking dark gunmetal, with a touch of gold flakes going through the paint. Still looking at diff. styles before I decide 100%.
  17. Who can recommend a good wheel repair shop in Melb that offers competitive pricing? Want to change the colour of my rims too... Thanks.
  18. ' Nah, no plates. Called council anyway, they will tow it to wrecker, keep for 30 days, then if no one claims, turns over to wrecker. Spewing cause it's a mint car and it will be sold for parts or someone who works there is gonna take it Oh well, no harm in trying hey.
  19. Mate, my question was legitimate. The car is a 75 Fairlane, where do you see these everyday? Hence, why I asked the question, you make me out to sound as if I'm some sort of bum rummaging through rubbish. Oh, thats right I have no class and nothing better to do than take abandoned cars off the street. I have no way of finding out who the owner of the vehicle is, I did eventually find out that the council will take it, and give it to pick-a-part, and guess what after 30 days, pick-a-part will own it. Then it will be stripped into parts and a nice car wrecked. So does the council lack class too for taking rubbish? Lighten up bud, I didn't ask a question to be flamed.
  20. How is it stealing? The thing has been there for ages collecting leaves. Obviously this original owner doesn't want it. If it was reported stolen it would of been found by now. It's not in a secluded spot. The police drive down this road all the time. Had it been stolen, it would be recovered by now. Anyway, i just called vic roads, they will ring me back in the next 30 to 45 with an answer as even they are not sure on this. Will let you know of the outcome. Cheers.
  21. There is a car in my area that has been abandoned. I see it there everyday, it's been there for about 1 month now. Council has put a sticker on it advising if it is not collected it will be towed. Whats the go with things like this? I wouldn't mind taking this car... Can I just take it considering it's been there so long? What do you guys think?
  22. you have any idea what could of caused it to fail though? if it's such a rare occurence? a knocking noise is emanating from the timing cover too, i don't see how that could be related to a failed solenoid though?
  23. i suspected this... thanks for the quick reply. by the way you have nissan fast so i can get a part number for VCT solenoid?
  24. Strange question but, I have a 95 r33. Engine comes with VCT, I have cam timing solenoid on the side of the head. The solenoid is leaking oil. My mechanic said to me either I can get a new solenoid and standard inlet timing gear, or I can get and bring into him after market gears and eliminate the VCT solenoid all together. Can this be done? Furthermore, I have a standard ECU, so i'm not sure. Thanks.
  25. good stuff, thanks for the tip. straight to metro bolts i go...
