  1. yeah dude, the sound of the ticking in clutch was recently in some REALLY cold weather, im talking like 3 deg outside. In the warmer weather, no problem no noise. But yeah, I'm just gonna buy some adj. cam gears while we do the solenoid, labour will cost same, as timing gear needs to come off anyway. I hear its possible to gain anywhere from 10 to 20 extra kw with cam gears.
  2. I know this has been done to death, but I have searched and couldn't find anything conclusive so here goes. I'm looking at buying the JJR gears (in & ex), my problem with these is that they're made in China. I don't want to use the bolts they supply... I'd be looking at some high tensile ones, but which? What are the measurements? Also, an aftermarket timing cover would be on the cards too to allow for adjustments without having to rip the cover off everytime. Where could I source one of these? Thanks.
  3. heh, so after a little bit of my own investigation i went into the garage and started the car up and decided to fiddle around and see if I could pinpoint where the noise was from. Completely unrelated... Sound is coming from timing cover... Timing belt did get changed a year ago though. I went down to my mechanic and we tested cam timing solenoid... Pull connector off and its filled with oil! I thought it was coming from box as I heard a noise emanating from it recently. Thanks for the replies!
  4. Birds - Yeah mate, it does it in gear also. The other odd thing is when I cold start the car, this sound doesn't come on until the car has warmed up. Guess it's time to rebuild the box...
  5. As topic states, when clutch is disengaged in neutral, I can hear a tapping noise, originally I thought I had a sticky lifter. I put the clutch in and sound goes away. Anyway, now while i'm driving, I can hear a funny noise almost like a tap/whine (it's a strange sound I really can't explain it, almost sounds like a car from the Jetsons lol). I could be stationery and rev the car and still hear this sound.. I'll try and record the sound and post on youtube later on. Any ideas before I go to my mechanic? Cheers.
  6. I would like an s2 wheel preferably. Would it suit a 1.5 series though?
  7. Hey as title states need a steering wheel. I would like an s2 wheel preferably. Would it suit a 1.5 series though?
  8. clutch will fail, pump you need and a reg. dont skimp on your fuel system dude. as far as afm is concerned there is nothing wrong with the stockies to about 250rwkw. 330 rwhp is achievable with what you want.
  9. my car sounds like the 34 in that vid up top. i HATE vl turbo dose, it sounds poofy as.
  10. You don't need an FMIC. The SMIC does a good enough job for your application... As far as exhaust breaking because it's ceramic... no. You must have misunderstood your mechanic, what he is saying is that your exhaust turbine wheel is ceramic and anything more than about 12psi and you risk smashing your turbo... Get the front/dump to complete your exhaust, whack your pod and heatshield on get the car breathing right and 11psi will be nice... Good luck.
  11. there should be a switch under the steering wheel on your left hand side that allows you to put your antenna 1/2 up or full. As far as your aerial staying up all the time it hasn't been wired properly on the HU. Pull the HU out and re-wire it to the blue "antenna" wire - not the amp remote wire. Aerial will go up when radio is on and go down when you put on any other source.
  12. use 100 octane. will decrease the risk of detonation.
  13. Speaking on the whole anglo/wog thing, I was out with 3 mates the other night eating outside a kebab shop, now all 3 of us are of "ethnic backgrounds" when an "anglo" male starts taking the piss for no apparent reason. We told him to piss off and he kept going until his girlfriend came outside and ushered him back into the shop. Now you tell me who starts the trouble? We are demonised when we tell them to piss off, they keep going, take swings then we end up fighting and it's the wogs who start the trouble? Come off it. Racism is rife and you all know it. All it takes is a few words and it's on.
  14. this is the most fried thread ive ever read... lol. good stuff!

  18. the last owner would of had thicker oil in it... how many k's on your engine?
  19. ball bearings in a tin? that sounds like you're describing a pinging sound. you sure you put the right fuel in the car when you filled up?
  20. i ran a decat pipe for ages, didn't notice that much of a gain, plus the extra loudness and having to polish my rear bar all the time did my head in.
  21. yeah it does fit, you have to modify the wiring a bit though thats the only problem, or buy an adapter.
