Gt Auto Imports Croydon
trel replied to trel's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Well, before checking this post, I checked my email and someone has told me that the business GT Auto has apparently changed hands now. So I'm a little confused, as when I called GT Wayne answered but when I got there a guy called Peter was there. God this can be frustrating. Thanks for the response. Evan. -
I've read a few posts here regarding GT Auto Imports in Croydon, Victoria. So far all responses have seemed to be positive. Topic's I've read are a little old though, so anyone who has recently dealt with them ie. last 6 months, please feel free to reply to this and let me and others know what you thought. I went in there today and spoke to a gentleman by the name of Peter. I didn't think I was going to be there for that long though! I went in to ask him about importing an R34 GT-T for me and we were there for nearly 2 hours talking. Seems like a very genuine bloke. Unfortunately today looks can be deceiving, so I would like to know of other people's experiences, and maybe an importer that you might be able to recommend? I've spoken to Craig at J-Spec , excellent service and very fast response. From what I hear they offer fantastic service, only thing with me is though, I would much rather prefer to do dealings like this in person as opposed to email and phones. This is why I would opt an importer who has a workshop/office. He was very helpful and by the looks of things extremely knowledgable in the importation process ,telling me step by step what goes on, and how to go about it. My budget is 20k MAXIMUM 21. He seems to think he can get me a very nice example and quite possibly have some change left over, so I'm happy about that. All replies will be appreciated. Thanks guys, Evan

Hmm. Decisions decisions... I might hunt around carsales and what not and get a feel for what's out there. At the end of the day it will always be cheaper to import as opposed to buying local yes? Arghh. Don't worry I'll get there hopefully! Thanks for the info bud.

G'day people, I've searched (obviously not hard enough) as to what an R34 GT-T would be worth these days. From what I've seen in person these days, I've seen heaps of rubbish. I'm very picky. Not sure what I need to spend to find a clean, non-accident vehicle. Can anybody help me or steer me in the right direction? Is there anybody that I can go and see to try finding one for me? Any help would be appreciated. (Don't slam me if this is a question that has been asked 10000 times ) This will be my first import and I don't really feel like blowing 20k or so on something thats going to give me major headaches from word go. Thanks!

Silly question. Ive tried searching but havent found much.. Ive purchased a new set of front rotors. Do they need machining or anything like that before i fit them? I always change pads myself etc. But ive never changed disc rotors so Im not entirely sure. Thanks.

Almost burgundy? Are you colour blind or something? If you see this car in person, you will see its RED, red like blood. No where near the colour burgundy. If you have no interest in the car and just added a post to bag or whatever please don't. Don't waste mine and other sau users time. Thanks. -

Firstly. GUIDE TO BUYING A SKYLINE Check this post out. EXTREMELY helpful. Print it out read it several hundred times (na, just jokin!) read it a few times and if you've found the skyline you're looking for take the guide with you to refer to. Pretty much everything you need to look for is in that guide. Another tip from myself is look out for rust on the R32's. The most common places for rust are rear wheel arches, just under it or around it. As well as wheel arches open the boot and pull carpet up and look for rust there, look around the boot seals as well. Indication that water maybe leaking into the boot. Ask yourself why water is leaking, worn seal? bodgy accident damage etc. DON'T BE SCARED TO ASK QUESTIONS!! Another common place for rust on 32's is the floor under front passen ger and driver passenger. Hard to spot it unless you take carpet up and have a look. Also look in the engine bay around firewall etc. Open the doors and look at the bottom seals along the body for rust. If its just surface rust, no worries cheap to fix and stop if you get to it quickly enough. Um... apart from that, the usual steering wheel, shift knob & hand brake lever wear which are common for a car its age. Apart from that you should be good to go!! As the guide also says put it up on a hoist, check the underbody and get a compression test done on the engine. I could go on with HEAPS more stuff but the link I have provided you pretty much covers the basics in which you need to check gearbox etc. I hope ive been helpful to you mate and good luck!! One final note as well, 15 year rule has been discontinued for sometime, BUT, some importers still have stock that was purchased PRIOR to 15 year cancellation. Check the import sites out because they still have some 15 year stock. Don't wait too long as it will go very quickly. peace. -trel

The "squeeling" noise you mention there is your drive belt. Will cost you about 70 bucks to replace. If it was timing belt and it snapped your engine would be pretty well rooted. When was your timing belt changed by the way? If it IS due to be changed do that ASAP. But squeeling noise, no worries its just your drive belts, real major thing that can happen would be an untimely break down of your car and an inconvienience. peace. -trel

Your ****en Kidding me

The rear has sustained damage? Look at the photo of the engine bay near the firewall. Jesus Christ thats SHOCKING ! How the f*** can a car like that be imported. -trel. -
You could import a turbo 5 speed for that price that he is asking for. To convert to a turbo it would be ridiculously expensive and would most likely cost you more to convert than to buy one already done from factory. You'd need to upgrade your gear box, brakes etc. By the looks of that too, I reckon this bloke has thrashed it because of it's N/A factor by people trying to run him at lights I could be wrong. Check out the import sites dude, you'll find one at that price turbo manual and coupe. A few import places I recommend are www.j-spec.com.au www.imports101.com.au www.importcars.com.au Import cars is REALLY good he will look after you. Also Danny at imports 101 is great. Good luck in your search mate. -trel.

Gday guys, Just wanting to know if anyone has had any experience with alarms made by a company called "CarsCop" - www.carscop.com The model in particular I'd like some info on is the CCFM-2. Comes with Remote Start feature as well. I'd like to know peoples experience with them, whether you think they are good or not etc etc. I have a friend who has one for me brand new in box. It looks pretty good, but it's a brand i've never heard of. Any responses would be great. Thanks.

try NON-ACETONE nail polish remover, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you buy the non-acetone stuff as the regular stuff will take paint off. I had some tree sap or glue or something on my roof and NOTHING would get it off. A bit of warm soapy water then a bit of the nail polish remover on some cotton and the shit wiped straight off. hope this helps.
