  1. I had the same thing on my 32GTR with 2530's. Solved by changing down a gear
  2. +1 I run -9's and TT pipe mod is worth it. Also, tuning plays a part.
  3. Get well pronto and a speedy recovery!!
  4. Ha ha, I built it, but I didn't tune it.......
  5. Well those cars were designed by the manufacturer to use thermos as standard. A working clutch fan such as the nissans will only draw engine power when at idle or just above, as they are supposed to taper off/decouple as RPM increases. As they wear out they tend to stay engaged longer and start to sound like an EA falcooon.
  6. Yep the classic gearbox getrag rattle Also due to the thin viscosity, and small amount of oil used in these boxes that gets thrown up to the higher parts of the box. RPM also dictates how noisy they can be too. Mine with A/C on will be noisier, and if it is warmed up at idle revs. Add 10 or more years of use, plus getting rid of the factory dual mass flywheel and they are a pretty noisy box as bearings slowly wear and clearances also open up. Sometimes if I want it to be just a little quieter, I can just tap the clutch when waiting at the lights in neutral and it will be a bit quieter. I think this is due to the input shaft getting into a dead central position (talking in thousanths of an inch) and making less lash noise in general. Some people recommend changing the input shaft bearing, or recoing box, but it really is just the way the box is as time goes on as well as using non OEM flywheels. There are some that are noisier than others too.
  7. Use the metal gasket. Nissan updated the design for something that will out last the rubber o ring. I've changed 2 so far and no problems with oil pressure. Will work both ways, just make sure surfaces are flat and no nicks, and done up tight.
  8. No Matt, it was a needle roller bearing one, lasted all of 20 mins due to input shaft nicking it when we went to fit gbox. After that, I'm only ever fitting stock bronze one's Thanks Charlie, it feels good. Next will be a set of bilstein coilovers
  9. Work means no time to work on car!!!
  10. The thermo on the front of the a/c condensor turns on around 90-95..... Had it turn on on me once with the car idling (32GTR), a/c on in summer time. So sounds about right.
  11. So just a few things like electrical, brake master, clutch master, intake and exhaust to go. No spark plugs fitted as I cranked it over to get oil pressure up, all good. Probably start it tomorrow....
  12. Yep, was me Thought we saw your car Dave, we were at DHL picking up sloane's eng parts lol.
  13. Blah blah.......back on topic!! put the engine in today and fitted up the gearbox. Sucks doing it all by yourself.. This was after spending the morning sorting out all the minor crap before the engine could go in... Pics will be up tomorrow.
  14. I came, I saw and left because it was so busy haha. Lotsa p platers.
  15. I'll have a look see...
  16. Now that's yummy! Nice purchase.
  17. Hi guys, We are after a pair of oil drain pipes that bolt to the oil drain on the garrett 2860-5, -9, -7 turbos. Need both, so 2. PM what you have. Cheers, Sean
  18. Labour is a big one.....$$ Very nice though!
  19. Wouldn't you just grab a 26 block?
  20. Well it has been a few months, and he's been car-less! He'll be sticking to 98 for now.... Just need a damn coolant hose kit!! in black.
  21. It's nearly done. Just waiting on an engine coolant hose kit, then the ancillaries can be fitted up.
  22. bore: 86.5mm stroke: 73.7mm head gasket thickness: 1.1mm deck height: around -0.013in (one side of piston was .003", the other side was .016") piston dome: -16.2cc combustion chamber: 64.5cc Hey Paul, I calculated static CR at around 9.2:1, keeping in mind this engine is using non standard cams, so upping the comp a bit will help with off boost drivability and regain a little efficiency back at low to mid RPM due to the longer duration cams (264deg 8.8mm lift).
