A few weeks ago on the Great Tarmac Rally I butchered a front set of medium Hankook Z221's in a day but was trying to drive too hard, hugging corners too much and understeering. In comparison with dad driving on the Targa High Country the tyres almost still had the labels on them after 3 days! Sure he may not have been driving as hard but we were still giving it a go. A lot of it comes down to the driving style/technique (at least in our case). I just need to work on getting all my braking done before the corner and apex more precisely before powering out. A little more difficult to do rallying compared to on a track but that's what its all about! Our clutch didn't get any better or worse after the 2nd day. It is a strange problem though, it would slip down low then grip up at higher revs -even during full boost. Made it hard accelerating out of slow corners, especially up Buller! We were just happy to finish! -

Anyone know of someone in the Mansfield/Melbourne area that could supply and help fit a nismo twin plate clutch tonight (Saturday)? Clutch started slipping after lunch today on the Targa High Country. Please call 0422 808 999. Any help much appreciated! -

My father will be there in the R33. I'm sitting this one out while his mate navigates and ticks targa off his bucket list. The car is ready to go after a shake down at Marulan on the weekend. Just waiting on a new set of brake pads to show up in the mail. -

I'll be entering either the Great Tarmac Rally or Snowy River Sprint this year for my first tarmac rally as driver after navigating for my father in past Targa events. He ran in the Baw Baw Sprint the other week and loved it. Apparently its very well organised and laid back. Sounds like a good place to get my feet wet. Hopefully one day there'll be enough interest for an event in NSW. Travelling south for every rally could get tiresome. -

Targa newsletter in my email last night says HANS devices are now required for all Modern entrants (cars built from 1 January 1985). Anyone running in Wrest Point this year? I see 4 GT-R's entered. In other news, bit the bullet and ordering MCA Gold's for the R33. -

Being new to the skyline scene can anyone offer any advice where to start looking in regards to ride height and spring rates for an r33 tarmac rally setup? Currently there's only about 80mm clearance to the sump guard and exhaust and I've measured approx 350mm from the top of the guard to the centre of the wheel. This is ok for the track but I'm not sure if it will hold up over the dips, bumps and undulations of targa. -

Thanks the z221's look good but looking to complete a pair of ao50's I already have. To clarify, buying from interstate members without much history would need some kind of buyer protection.. eg. would buy them from you through ebay. Don't wanna get ripped off. Still looking, cheers. -

Proud new owners of a rally prepared R33 GTR V-Spec! Dad got the shits with his Jag XJS and discovered the awesomeness of 4WD turbo. We went halves with this one that we found in Melbourne. Already have an entry in for Targa Tas. -

Hi Guys, My father and I are moving from late classic to early modern next year and he's trying to tell me HANS devices are compulsory in early modern. Can anyone confirm this? I've been over the Targa and CAMS documentation and cant find anything apart from "HANS devices are strongly recommended". I know HANS devices are a good idea and I'm not trying to skimp on safety, I'll probably get one soon anyway. Just trying to prove a point haha... -

Car looks good but not too keen on an ex-drift car, especially without not being able to see before buying. The search continues... -
Hi All, My father and I are looking for an R32 GTR RB26DETT twin turbo for use at track days and Targa events. We've been through a lot of classifieds and made some offers but still looking for the right car. Hopefully this will reach people who might be thinking about selling... We're looking for a reliable car which has already had some work done to it. A straight body with recently rebuilt engine and a suspension upgrade would be preferable. A roll cage with CAMS log book would be even better although not necessary -we can always get a cage fitted ourselves. Does not have to be road registered. As my dad puts it, "It's gotta be a go'er not a shower". We are based in the Sydney area but can travel interstate for the right car. Please PM me if you think you have or know of a suitable car. All offers considered! Cheers, John
