  1. Will let you know in two weeks time - I'll be over there finding one for myself. Funnily enough, midnight purple seems to be cheaper, and that's one of my favourite colours. Was gonna get Bayside Blue, but every man and his dog seems to have it these days lol. Here's a really rare colour in GT-Rs (apologies for the advertising...), and yes it was originally a factory colour, although resprayed now: http://ironchefimports.com/site/index.php?...view&id=154
  2. It's a "how long is a piece of string" type questions, but $40K landed and complied is do-able for nice one with higher kms, for sure. Compliance is available in Adelaide.
  3. If it's a personal import, then it's open slather, it can be as modded as you like. Getting it registered would be a whole different ball game though.
  4. I found the car you were talking about, from USS Sapporo. Snow country = rust. Never bought a car from auction up there in my life. I get your point though
  5. Around $3000 plus tyres and labour to remove and refit the parts - in other words, about $10,000
  6. Edited for accuracy I've got auction prices from the last six months, and the cheapest V-Spec is listed at 2.35 million, which was a grade 3.5 with 135000km on it. So at 2.45 mil FOB you're closer to $36K landed and complied, assuming pads don't need doing (highly unlikely). Before you all get excited, the other thing worth mentioning is that at USS, a car can be "fushoku" (or totally rusted out) underneath and if the top of the car is clean, it'll still gets a grade 4. Looks good on paper, but a disaster when it hits compliance...
  7. I just sent the application off for it, so I hope it meets the requirements too
  8. $30K is what George paid for it in Japan, not landed and complied here. Please note that Prestige have a (very nifty I must admit) program that translates and converts prices on cars straight from Yahoo Auction. What that means is that you see very cheap prices on cars that 1) may never be able to be complied here and 2) may not actually be "on sale" at the auction price listed. All I will say about any GT-Rs are that they are not the type of cars where you should skimp on the initial purchase - you may find that the amount you saved initially is more than swallowed up by the repairs you'd have to carry out to keep a cheap one on the road.
  9. lol - the experts would've been advertising them as for sale, with a landed and complied price...
  10. Micah, there's not much written on there, it does mention rust under the car - might pay to check it before it leaves for Australia. I know exactly where you bought it from, and they are notorious for giving high gradings to cars with rust. Fingers crossed it's only minor.
  11. Hi guys, Got an R33 S2 GT-R being complied in Brisbane that had a factory steering wheel go missing on the way over on the boat - does anyone have one lying around that I can buy or borrow? I presume its the same wheel as N15 Pulsar, S14 etc etc?? If you do, please give me a buzz asap - 0402 904 069. Cheers Kristian
  12. Ok In the top right box... 1 owner: ??? (service history perhaps) Sunroof: bodykit Xenon headlights: Keyless entry: "Half leather" seats Paddle shift: BOSE sound system Bottom box... VSS Sports Muffler Momo Sports steering wheel (with airbag??) BBS 18" wheels : parking sensors HDD Navigation/TV (factory option) : ETC is a toll card thing in Japan, useless here Light scratches on alloy wheels and marks around body (as listed on the pic of the car anyway) That actually reads pretty nicely - sounds like a very nice car.
  13. Go to Iron Chef, seeing he is in Adelaide and has he has already responded via email to your enquiry last night
  14. ^^^ As above. Buy as many as you like, but don't sell any more than 3-4 cars in 12 months (varies from state to state).
  15. I only said it was possible, not that it was easy Both competitors had a fairly extensive competition history, backed up by letters from series organisers and magazine articles etc. I've seen examples of all the other options you've listed too. The nasty side is that wreckers have apparently been bringing in cars that are nowhere near compliable, then claiming the wreck back off the unsuspecting RAWs who waste a plate on it when they reject it... Interestingly enough, a couple of businesses (who do used parts, coincidentally) are claiming to have been given approval by DoTaRS to bring in race/rally vehicles without any paperwork at all, in order to sell, so I'd be very curious to know what the approval is...
  16. Good point, and agree totally on the last part. I've heard of test cars go past the 12 month mark, sometimes DoTaRS chase it up, sometimes they don't - if there's a legit reason for the delay then they let it slide. I don't think "using it as a race car" would probably fall into the legit reason category. Don't be totally put off by the level of your CAMS licence. In the case of drifting, DoTaRS will be more interested in your racing background, what car you're buying and what competitions you plan to enter with it. Because the national comp only requires level 2 licences, I've brought a couple in through race/rally with level 2 licences, but both were experienced competitors at a state level wanting to move up into Super Drift or Drift Australia.
  17. haha - I actually found it via your other thread in the Importing section. I didn't realise that was your username, and when you said you'd bought through me, I'm thinking "What? Which customer is this?"
  18. lol - horses for courses, my friend. Stageas are a pretty decent thing too. You're a bit out on your calculations there, but either way, give me a call next time you see a Bayside Blue S2 Stagea with sunroof, 18s, mods and bodykit show up for sale locally...I won't be holding my breath...
  19. You have 12 months from when it enters the country to get it complied. After that, the RAW (and you) would need to do some fast talking or face having the car crushed/exported.
  20. That rules out second-hand GT-Rs unless Nissan stuff up again and wait 18 months from the time they came out in Japan to the time they are on-sale here. Fuga is listed as both new and used (I did the application )
  21. lol - I didn't do much better - until I saw the pics I thought you'd bought an R34 GT-R, not an R32 and was reading the price going, "What the hell?!" Nice car - good luck with the importing process. If you have spare parts inside the car, might be best to avoid Kiwi Car Carriers at the moment if you can.
  22. Read into this what you like, but when I went past AIR today, there's was a big tipper dumping something right on to the track where the start/finish line is (of the drag strip).
