  1. Just had a thought fella - I reckon the tyres on the Type R are the exact same size, will make sure I don't thrash it for the next few weeks
  2. Warranties are only valid in the country of sale.
  3. Pete, you don't know any other GT-B owners who could drag one out the shed for www.alljapanday.com.au ???
  4. You get what you pay for....
  5. Also bear in mind a few other things - 1) they each have hundreds, if not thousands of customers, so on the balance of probabilities, there will be a small percentage of people who weren't happy with their service, and they'll be the ones who shout the loudest, compared to the vast majority who were happy. 2) a good 90% of problems that people have with importing aren't actually the fault of the broker, but rather the people and companies they've used along the way. Brokers get just as frustrated as their customers when things go wrong. 3) Common sense suggests that businesses who shaft their customers don't last long, and the import brokering game has many 'fly-by-night' operators. The fact that both companies have been around for a while should tell you something.
  6. I've seen them take that long before. Storage is $45-75 a day in Melbourne, from memory.
  7. Getting there slowly :S
  8. Whoever wrote the original statement needs a smack in the head - neither workshops nor brokers truly have a say in what happens at the docks. There's certainly no preferential treatment for anyone, that I'm aware of at least. As has been already mentioned, most workshops are run off their feet doing compliance work without trying to buy cars from Japan too. It's the same reason I don't become a RAW - when you try to be all things to all people, you lose track of your core business. Most RAWs do well enough out of compliance not to be bothered with importing cars - they're hardly losing money to brokers. That's a bit like saying RAWs also losing money to dealers when they load the prices and put them on the lot.
  9. We were wondering what the story was lol
  10. All good, just drafting all the paperwork - these things take time :S
  11. ^^All the cool people are going lol
  12. ^^^ Well said, and totally agree...
  13. PM sent - will do the responses over the weekend (got over 100 there so I better not wait too much longer). Only one rejection so far...(not yours, Flick!)
  14. Clean GTS-t, it looks like a parking ticket to me - says something about "Day Camp" on there, which might be an all-day parking place. Those balls are awesome! The sell them in bottles, and I always get a bottle or two every time I go to Japan. The only stuff I've found that 100% deodorises the stale cigarette smell. That's actually changed a fair bit lately - kms from the last two times each car was regoed are now listed on export certificates for every car leaving Japan.
  15. ^^Got it! I bid on a dark blue KGC10 over the weekend, if anyone saw it on Yahoo. Prices are mad though - 2.25 million it went for, that's just for a replica. You just don't see them at auction like you used to. First option is gold, and yes must have 15 x eleventybillion Watanabes and flared guards...
  16. If the original email is "intelligence", does this thread count as "counter-intelligence"? Assuming it's real, what a foolish thing to type - methinks someone forgot how the internet works...
  17. Hi guys, entries have now passed 65, so we're moving along nicely. Target 200! Some very cool cars entered already, although my best efforts to buy a KGC10 to have here by the time the event rolled around have been thwarted, much to my dismay. I'm getting all your entries, even though you may not get a confirmation on the site - will start replying later on in the week.
  18. Don't be gay, just pull an all-nighter and sleep next to the car on the Sunday!

  20. Hi Muz, The saga continues! Give me another buzz when you get the chance, but like you've got in your response further up, I think it'll be another few months before much happens with further testing. You've come this far, you may was well ride it out now I was trying to find a good smiley to sum up the situation - was the best I could do...
  21. ^^ Mustang perhaps? Think of the RB they could've created with the cash they spent on the conversion...
  22. If you're cashed up, Chloe's Restaurant is sensational - seriously one of the best meals I've ever eaten. I took my wife there, and we cracked $200 for the night, but it was worth every cent. I'm not into restaurant snobbery and was of the opinion that you reach a price where you spend more on a meal just for the sake of the restaurant's image, but the quality of the ingredients really impressed me. For the best fish and chips on the planet, there's a place in Semaphore where you actually have to order half an hour in advance, they're that good. The name escapes me just now.
  23. I had a Nissan once
  24. Having a bit of trouble convincing Nissan to waive the 18 month wait to make it eligible under SEVS, for some reason lol. In all seriousness, Nissan stalled on bringing in the S15 and a very smart operator snuck in the early ones, which is why we now have both import and local models available. There's no way in hell Nissan will make that mistake with the GT-R. My agent in Japan is willing to do one for around $130K too as a personal, but by the time you wait for one to be delivered (currently a 3 month wait) then 12 months ownership and all the stuffing around, the local Nissan GT-Rs will be available anyway... No doubt a few will appear here next year under race/rally though...
