  1. ER34-009512 Thanks
  2. Well it really depends on what Canberra says, not us. If they ok it, you'll get the car in - if they don't, you won't. Best to speak to them about it.
  3. If you get the chance to purchase this book, then get it. Awesome amount of good info in there, and a very funny read. I found this interesting, and it might help you guys find out if these faults have already been fixed in Japan. Problem - Fuel pump control module may not be earth correctly resulting in rough running or engine failure. Cars affected - BNR34-403990 - BNR34-404216 Has been fixed if - there is yellow paint on the left hand side of the vehicle type plate. Problem - Brake light switch may be faulty Cars affected - all model built between 25 May 1999 and 31 March 2003 Has been fixed if - there is yellow paint on the side of the brake pedal. Problem - ABS controller is defective and may activate ABS when not needed Cars affected - HR34-000201 - HR34-003487, ER34-0000122 - ER34-015425 Has been fixed if - there is yellow paint beside the vehicle type plate. Problem - ABS may activate when not necessary because of increased resistance of the electrical terminals inside ABS control unit. Cars affected - HR34-003488 - HR34-004568, ER34-015429 - ER34-018924 Has been fixed if - There is yellow paint on the left side of the vehicle type plate.
  4. Probably $500 or so with tyres....and I'll take them
  5. DJR81 - mine is a test car also. You've never seen a car so well complied! Regarding re-inspection, it depends on the scenario I guess. Keep working on the theory that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Ring the workshop every few days until they get sick enough of you and do something about it. I thought waiting times for inspectors weren't actually that bad at the moment??
  6. teamplasma - a touch dramatic. No workshop in their right mind would put a car with rust or prior accident damage through as a test car. It's in their interests to make sure the car is as clean as possible for DoTaRS. My theory is that the workshop obvious has some discussion items they need to fix, and this causes long delays as you need to wait for inspectors all over again. Much better to get it through first pop. It pays to know your RAW well if you plan to use your car as a test car - poor ones can result in delays like this.
  7. Every R34 I've seen has had two blank panels next to the headlight adjuster - does anyone know what switches go there??
  8. BUMP - for a super rare car. Beautiful colour too.
  9. Took me a while to work out who you were - der!! It's me Kristian - keep the 34! Wait till it gets here and you drive it, then make your mind up - that is probably your best bet. Not far away now.
  10. Well that's what I thought, but mine has something in those two panels. One said Oil and the other said Oil Filter and both had a green LED just above them and both of them were lit. Will have to wait till I get it back now so I can investigate some more - perhaps a rare option?? I only drove it a few kms on trade plates and I was more interested in how it went
  11. The car's still in being complied so no pic of it I'm afraid. Anyone else got these??
  12. That would be me. (To recommend, not to avoid!) I'm Adelaide based, and a few guys from here have bought through me. PM me for more info, and I'll put you on to them, and they can tell you what they thought of me.
  13. I drove my R34 briefly (from compliance workshop to paint shop) and noticed that there was an Oil and Oil Filter light alongside the headlight adjustment switch. Both of these were on, but given that all fluids have just been changed, and it had the world's flattest battery in it, that might go some way to explaining things. Are they just service reminders to say that these things need doing?
  14. Send it off as soon as you have your paperwork. I've used Protrade International before without any hassles - ask for Colin. Number's in the book.
  15. No offence but I've never heard of them before. Why on earth would you choose an unknown company when there are stacks of importers on here who can help you out?? Put it this way - if a company in Japan sends you a bucket of crap that can't be complied in Australia, what could you do about it?? (This question is rhetorical by the way...)
  16. Guys, FFS, it's a Recaro! It was advertised as such, and I've never seen a fake Recaro in Japan in all my life. The reason why it looks slightly different is the red one is actually an older model, but it was the closest decent pic I could find. The newer ones have the harness holes drooping down like JayMei's does. Check the Recaro website for more details. The fabric is called Black Avus, and it's far better wearing than velour. There are stacks of Recaros that don't have the logo on the top of the seat. Will get some better pics of it when it gets to the holding yard.
  17. ^^^ haha - my thoughts exactly.
  18. It's an all black avus Recaro Speed (reclines) without the Recaro logo - a $750 seat in Australia! Imagine this in all black...
  19. Might've been me. Did it still have that "fresh off the boat" look? (Writing all over the windscreen, grubby as hell, running on a trade plate) Mine's got white AVS rims on it currently.

  21. You'd be looking at 12-13K plus tyres and rego to get one on the road, for a 1993 model. Might be better off looking locally, as R32 prices still seem very strong in Japan.
  22. Having seen the footage on TV, I'm amazed that Drew is still alive. His car took a BIG hit. Testament to the safety of newer cars with airbags etc. Condolences to the family of the Festiva driver - an unfortunate lapse in judgment, but nobody deserves to pay for their mistakes with their life.
  23. The main reason why it's PLUS TYRES is because it then allows the customer to choose which tyres they put on, although in most cases the workshop will have a good deal going to get cheapies on from the local tyre place.
  24. Good research SteveL. Here in SA, I've heard of cases where Possesory Lien doesn't apply, the customer has got their car back, and the repairer has then had to take legal action to recover money owed, but I think what's written there is pretty black and white. You need to consult the Office of Fair Trading, but until the money's paid, your mate's got very little chance of getting his car back.
