  1. RNN14-02531 It's a Pulsar GTi-R Nismo coming up tomorrow - just want to see what FAST shows it as (I'm presuming something will pop up)
  2. Gorgeous car, as mentioned, my customer has one going through testing in Melbourne at the moment.
  3. No stick with NSW. Mods like an engine change would need to be engineered, otherwise it's a blue slip and you're away. Speak to Todd at JLM he will be able to advise.
  4. PS don't bother bringing to Australia when you're done, it will be completely f*cked...
  5. The short answer is it's almost impossible to register a vehicle in your name in Japan without having residency there. It might mean applying for a working holiday visa just to be able to do it. I'd personally recommend doing the reverse run and buying something in the UK, which would be a whole lot easier. But yes getting a CPD carnet is the only way to get through all the countries. Make sure you sort your visas well in advance, as many of the east European countries time your visa down to the hour - not handy when you get a flat tyre (and in eastern Europe, expect to kill all your tyres, a second set of tyres, and possibly a rim or two). Check out the Mongol Rally if you haven't done so already. We (Iron Lady imports, that is) sponsored an Aussie guy to do it, vids are here: http://vimeo.com/mandurphy/videos/all/sort:date
  6. Helps if we know where you're from
  7. Seriously, if I had a dollar for every time someone had asked me to go into a car yard, I'd probably already have retired. I don't know how dealers put up with the stress of it all, to be honest. The GFC and the tsunami were massive blows to the industry, both in Japan and Australia.
  8. Just to update this one, the new owner of the original car in question has been in touch, and is now planning to take SAG to court over it.
  9. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/reading-the-riot-act-to-dodgy-car-dealers-over-odometer-tricks/story-fni0cx12-1226759295622 The bloke they interviewed has got his info pretty much spot-on!
  10. Cost is normally $150-250 and no it's not worth doing yourself. They arrange the paperwork for customs and quarantine - it's one of those things where if you get it wrong, you'll be in for all kinds of butthurt and storage expenses, which can be up to $100/day. Not worth the risk.
  11. Hi OP, we deal with this stuff on a daily basis - flick us an email via kristian(at)ironladyimports.com for more info. We normally deal with personal imports through that arm of the business, but a number of top end cars via SEVS too.
  12. ^^This. Complied under the old system. Shouldn't be too hard to sort out.
  13. The customs value WILL include shipping costs, so if the total is more than $1000, you will pay duty.
  14. It will need to be engineered. The process for anything pre-89 is the same, regardless of whether or not it's fresh into the country or has been registered interstate for 20 years.
  15. Testing my memory a bit but somewhere around 2006-7.
  16. ...or at least from the beginning of when they started listing odometer readings on export certificates
  17. Never seen a ZY chassis code for an N1, sorry NISMO, you might be on your own here
  18. Hehehe, I knew One day we'll get our cars together for a shoot Terry. One day.
  19. Hehehe he used the same argument I used when we were chatting then Nicely played.
  20. Sorry mods if this is the wrong spot to post this but it seemed like the best option. You guys will no I normally NEVER buy into publicly commenting on this sort of stuff, but haircuts this big are just unbelievable. I only discovered it last week and I have no idea where it has ended up, but please take this as a huge warning if it's sitting at a dealer somewhere. V36 Type SP sedan in silver with 259,000km on it when it left Japan. This went through auction in May this year, and I had a suspicion that it would end up here, sure enough it has been complied in NSW on July 22. The 19s on it are fairly distinctive so it shouldn't be too hard to track it down. I'll leave the bloodhounds to do the work...
  21. Don't meet 2 out of the 4 SEVS criteria - investigated these MANY years ago
