hi wanted to to find out what class of motorsport the rest of you guys with skylines run in, the thing is ive spent the last few years building an rb30/26 t04z (I dont mind going to a smaller turbo, just want to use the engine), but i want to get into more than just track days later on, my dilemma is i wouldnt mind improved production but the 36mm restrictor would not give this size engine with a turbo any decent rev range, nor do I think id be able to compete in super sedans with other people who have unlimited budgets and tube frame chassis cars etc. any idea's / imput would be greatly appreciated, I dont want to go and buy wheels etc that are two wide for the class that I go in later on. cheers

depends on what brands you are using, good luck getting standard dba rotors for an r33 at under $100 retail, full retail on some db1170gct's is about 89.99, try getting genuine nissan rotors for $50 each. I can get you some pads for $35 for the set, doesnt mean I'd recomend using them though. if all the parts are new and just need to put on and have the system bled 2 - 3 hrs is about right. btw did you check to see if you have the shims in there?

R32 Noltec Arm Install Question
s13_Skyline_inside replied to James_03's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeh i tried to get my hands on some in 2006 i think for my old r32 and they'd stopped making them then, they might have started again, i dont recal that bolt in the side being there when i tried to get them before. I think the reason they stopped making them was that they had some issues with them comming a bit loose and the camber changing, dont quote me on that though -

key parts "on the track" and "not in the wet" -
shims that the word i was after, right on the tip of my tounge, and nope they dont come with pads you've got to buy them from nissan, if its very loud on light braking and not much at all on heavy braking then id bet on there are no shims, you dont need to replace you pads to put the shims on just pull the wheel off get your head in there and have a look have a quick look at this found it on google search - http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=...v%3D2%26hl%3Den

Yellow Fever (restoring R33 And R34 Model Headlights)
s13_Skyline_inside replied to Chang's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
just for a bit of info, autobarn now sell a kit for restoring them that contain, polish, cloth, fine sandpaper and most important that im going to have to wait for a year or so to see if it works, uv protective coating for the headlights so they dont go yellow again -
but then again as if the title of the guy who brought drifting to aus wouldnt go to your head and its deserved as well

very funny, got a good laugh out of it, but yes unfortunatly ive heard the same from people who have met him.

the anti squeal plates are clipped onto the back of the pads, should swap them over when you change pads, one of my mates got a mechanic to change pads for him, the guy chucked the old ones with the plates still on them, made a horrible screaching noise so i got him some new ones from nissan fixed it up. same with another mate with an r33 same deal, made a huge scraching noise, when i pulled it all apart they were not there, new pads and those plates, noise gone
-
check the pads have the original anti squeel plates on the back if the pads are in there without anything clipped ontot he back, without them they will squeel like all f@#k, you can get some bendix GCT's for around $100 or so, as for your discs, dba only do 4000 series for the skylines, cant remeber exact price but if you go to a few autobarns or repco's you might be able to get some el cheapo discs, even go to nissan to get a price on rotors. dont be scared go and sus out some prices for yourself.

s13_Skyline_inside replied to AE86 Spoontah's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
there is a nulon gearbox aditive thats quite good. that'd be the cheaper option, my gtt gearbox was a bit notchy into 1st and 2nd when cold but that stuff fixed it right up, now it is very smooth -
Clutch 'heaviness'?
s13_Skyline_inside replied to Tony de Wonderful's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i know you dont have a twin plate but if you did change your slave cyl then you'd need to change it back if you ever went to a twin plate. Im not saying dont do it, just if you ever put in a twin plate and dont change back you'll have issue's -
ummm even if you couldnt turn the engine off, just wack it into neutral and let it just bounce of the limiter, sure you'd prob do some serious engine damage if you couldnt get the engine to stop but at least you'd get out with no injury, but these are yanks we are talking about really makes you wonder how they can be one of the most powerful nations in the world

Rear Brake Heavy Grinding Noise
s13_Skyline_inside replied to awsam's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
lol yeh depends how dodgey you are to determin the price , you can get some pads for around $30, wouldnt exactly advise it though. its a good idea to machine rotors whenever you replace the pads anyway -

s13_Skyline_inside replied to psi's topic in General Automotive Discussion
ok then so whats the go with say penrite SIN10, it's a 10w70 oil as opposed to a 10w40? -
yours arent h3, they would be h3c which isnt all that common in aus if its not the h1 type

you see more and more people with the bloody fog lights on at dusk with their head lights turned off, i dont know how many of you guys with fog lights have had them by themselves turned on at night but they only illuminate about 2-3 meters of the ground directly infront of your car, this is what they are meant to do because when driving in heavy fog you do about 20km/h and cant see much more than 2-3 meters because if your lights go more than that you get a huge glare from the fog and cant see shit. they dont look cool they just annoy the fk out of other drivers and are not really nececary in metropolitan area's in aus, and most of rural area's too, I wish they would fine more excel drivers but it propbably goes along the lines of, oh you've go a skyline so ill give youa fine for having them on, and oh your driving a common car (falcodores, excels) ill give you the benifit of the doubt so here's a waring and then they forget about it the next day and the lights are on again, preparing for the flame, if it was me I would just give everyone I saw that had bloody "fog lamps" front or rear on in clear weather a fine regardless of how good they've been what car etc ok end rant
