1990 R32 Gtr - [Will Need Work]
gtrken replied to srpower's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Is this still for sale ? Cheers Ken -
To bring this topic to a close I contacted Auto Project who seemed quite helpful but the cars are cheaper because most are Grade 3.5. With the drop in the AUD versus the Yen and the increasing prices at the auctions for quality cars I decided to look local and have purchased one from a private buyer in QLD. I actually think atm there are better deals to be had in OZ , especially private , due to the amount for sale and the fact that people need/want to get rid of them. Anyway to those who replied , both on here and via PM , thankyou . Anyone know a cheap/ good way to get an Elgrand from QLD to Perth which does not involve me driving it ? Cheers Ken

Thanks for the info dnegative but doubt they would rubbish a clients car over the phone to a random stranger and Sydney is a little far to drive to ask in Person Am swaying to importing again ( I used to bring in GTR's years ago but my buyer has retired, gone, died, been arrested, got married or something ... ) as after talking to a couple of importes who are mentioned on here , the prices for some of the advertised cars in Australia are absolute bargains if they are true. And we all know the saying If it too good to be true, it probably is . BTW Phil at Direct, having a front page on your website that is 4 years old does not inspire confidence. Cheers Ken

As the topic states , I am looking at a couple of Elgrand xl's they have which seem good value on paper and wondering if anyone has had prior dealings with them ? They are the ones located at fairbank rd Clayton South in Victoria. I know this is a Skyline forum but I have always found the info here to be pretty good and the forum has come a looooonnnggg way since I was last on ( Congrats Prank ). Some of the original members on here from WA may remember me... Which may or may not be a good thing Cheers Ken

Yep, Congrats Lauren ( aka Niz ) and the photo was an early morning shot of a certain couple in the bedroom.... he did look cute in his budgie smuggler jocks. Hehe Anyway, I hope you two have a long married life with plenty of Nizzettes , because we don't need any more GTS-t VSPEC ers. Cheers Ken

Congratulations Paully and Niz. Bout time Lauren made an honest guy of you. All the best for the future and I still have that photo taken in Dunsborough ... hehehe Cheers Ken

Just to add my 2c.. You also may find it is aircon drain water which can leak back into the car via a blocked drain tube. If you run the heater/aircon on auto while driving, the aircon is on all the time. Worth checking before you start ripping the car apart ..... Cheers Ken

I am looking at selling my BMax with rebuilt 125 leopard as I just don't have time to use it anymore. Also have a 3 Kart side opening trailer but the setup will not be cheap. Comes with Kart stand,Mychron 4 with data logging, spare rims, sprockets etc. Send me a PM if you want to discuss prices. Cheers Ken

There is virtually no Japanese performance workshops in Perth who do everything in house. XSpeed, Hyperdrive, Top Racing , CRed, Speedworks, Ovaboost , In Tune all outsource the head work and engine machining. All the above workshops then assemble the engines in house to there own specifications which vary with each shop. The engine machining and tolerances supplied by the workshop is one of the critical factors in engine life and building one to go racing and will be refreshed after every season is different to building one that is in a street car. The only shops that machine AND build engines are very limited , both in quality and there desire to involve themselves in turbo cars. Most of these shops deal with V8's such as Kostecki, Kendrick, Repco, Veems , Performance Automotive plus others I can't remember. Cheers Ken

Best you change your wiring chart then. The N4 harness is required.

Will be doing some testing next week as an alternative to the Power FC. Not as good as Power FC but for minor mods should be able to do what is required for a price that will be cheaper than most other aftermarket ECU's. Cheers Ken

Jesus , is this thread still going?? !! I totally agree there are ways to do it cheaper but Lance asked for an emailed quote which I gave. Of course on a 20K there is margins but why would I give that away to a person I have never seen or met before. If lance wants to come in and discuss the quote and put a deposit down then that is fine. If he doesn't then that is also his perogative but I would have liked him to explain EVERYTHING his asked for hence why the quote is pricier. Yes , he could have used china, yes he could have used Power FC , yes he could have used KKR etc but that wasn't what he asked for. FFS , I am a little jack of having to justify this to all and sundry who jump on , it was supposed to be a quote to one person based on one persons desire of what they want , not a public debate of whether we are cheaper/better/worse than shop XYZ. Mods , I think it's time this shut down as I have better things to do than keyboard warrior with every person that thinks they know better/more/less/cheaper/china/easier/quicker *insert whatever you want * Ken

Rob , I was going to leave this one alone as you might get the same reputation as Brad. I am/was in partnership with Glenn and he is the one running the dyno. As stated before , we did a lot of work on your car for no charge in an attempt to get what we thought the car should achieve but obviously not to your satisfaction. Each tuner tunes cars differently and we certainly don't go for the big hp just to impress clients. What the car makes is what it makes, you can't magically make more HP if the a/f's are correct and the timing is near maximum. Cam timing is a subjective issue that is more to do with where we think you should have the power in the rev range. Tuning for maximum peak HP and be down 20-30hp in the midrange is a waste of time for all but dyno queens. Things can change over time and certainly we have had problems with customers coming back complaining about fuel consumption/lack of power/lack of midrange/lack of bragging rights. In quite a few instances we have found that the problem lies outside what we have done ie. fuel pump died/boost controller playing up/split cooler piping/mate been playing with the hand controller/engine has died under increased strain etc. A tune is a tune, it's not a lifetime guarantee of trouble free motoring. The fact that Glenn looked at it and saw nothing wrong is something you will have to take up with him. The fact that XSpeed and Ant tuned it after and you still weren't happy makes me think there may be a deeper issue. End of argument..

And this post is specific to Brad.. Brad , are you still doing your best to try and singlehandedly bring every workshop down ? After you have you used us , Racetorque , XSpeed , PSI , SST ( now Top Racing ) plus who knows who else you have tried and still the bagging continues. Spot the common denominater here ? After you realised we were all useless and you could do better , did you ever get the crank back ( which you left the grubscrews out of ) and sort the rods out when you put the caps on backwards ? Or are the parts still back at the original machinist they started at who you said was useless as well ? Ken

Oh goody I log on this morning to see this Lance , maybe explaining a little more about what you asked for may go some way to justify the price. I suggested a power FC but your answer was that you definitely did NOT want one and you specifically asked for a quality computer that will support launch control etc. You also wanted quality components which is why I steered clear of China manifolds. Sure they may work , usually after you have modded the wastegate pipe , machined them flat and then 6 months later they crack anyway. As far as other prices go , yes , you can troll around the forums and Japan and absolutely they can be purchased cheaper but we are a workshop , we have margins and we deal with only 2 or 3 companies that supply the products. Just a general post in regards to the * workshops are a ripoff * attitude that seems to permeate the WA performance industry atm. We have spent a lot of money getting equipment ( dynos, test equipment , hoists, buildings , welders etc ) and most shops try to employ quality mechanics who like to be paid commensurate with there skills. If everybody decides that we are too expensive and gets backyard Joe to do there work then backyard Joe had better be investing in above said equipment. 2 performance orientated shops closing in the last 5 months has left the industry short of places to go and if people still insist on * doing it cheaper * then a few more will leave. Who is going to tune the cars or sort the problems out when backyard Joe runs out of ideas? This is in no way a shot at anybody and yes , even workshops make mistakes and as some people have commented , when the mistake happens then the quality of the shop is shown in the way the problem is rectified. Cheers Ken

They have changed hands and Matt is running it now. I believe they are still setting up staff/tuners/mechanics etc atm so you may have to be a little patient. Cheers Ken

Yes , the rumours are correct but not for the reasons people think. We have been hard at it for 3 years and it's time Glenn and myself took a break. Glenn will be seeking to change direction in regards to type of cars and what he actually is tuning and I will be staying here until it is sold or will stay on if the new owner wants a manager. He will be avaliable to tune if the need arises and we have access to a competent tuner for the times he isn't in the country. The business is going very well ( as is attested by the brokers figures on what it's worth ) , we certainly aren't going broke and we haven't had a fight, just things change in your life and you have to re assess your goals. We will be closed from December 22nd till January 8th and it will be business as usual. Thanks to all our past customers , welcome to our future ones and we wish you all a Merry Christmas. If anyone is seriously interested in purchasing a business that has excellent turnover, good profit figures , secure lease then call me direct. I can assure you for those who are into the investment scenario , this returns far better %'s than buying a rental property Cheers Ken

Go the Jun/HKS/Trust oil pump route for the big dollar, high HP, big rev RB26's. We used an N1 pump in an RB30 conversion recently and the cast gears fractured causing a complete engine failure Most of the top shops in the east won't use the N1 pumps anymore. Cheers Ken

No , must be relicensed as a 2 seater. If you get caught with the seat back in and the copper is a bit cluey , then it's yellow time.. Cheers ken

So does that mean we will be seeing your smiling face at our workshop as we are a Mobil Signature dealer ? Sheesh , only just married and already needing 2 jobs.. Cheers Ken
