Unless you have a major syncro problem then Light weight Shockproof will be good enough. I absolutely swear by it cos I was looking down the barrell of a $3k gearbox rebuild for the 3-4 upshift problem. 4Litres and $100 of LWSP oil later and problem solved. Ask Mikey, he drove the GTR before and after I sold it to him. Also fixed a similar problem in my 300ZX TT DD. Ken

Those three guys should have been smarter and realise they were going to be set up. Would any sane person do doughnuts etc if they were told that this will be a slot on safe drivers on Current Despair. More than likely was told to go onto the pan ,have some fun and the camera guys will give them some private footage which they then used for the article. Lightweight shockproof ( the blue stuff ).Heavy weight was the last resort but slows the shift . BTW , it also cured the upshift syncro problem on my 300zx TT which is virtually the same as a 33 GTST gearbox. Ken

Getting the plate has nothing to do with doing the work. If they are a VICCAA member, they can apply for the plate when the car comes into the shop. If they aren't, the work usually has to be done and signed off by the engineer before the plate can be applied for.Either way , they can do the belts, cat, repeaters, brake light etc whenever, they don't need the plate to start the work Ken

My personal opinion is you will find them both good. Jan and Hanson at X Speed have built some killer rex's and evo's as well as skylines. Things have changed a bit at Speedworks with Basil Chow now running the w/shop and I have found him to be very competent and knowledgeable as he has a gtst RB26 he is building. Trouble with them is getting hold of John or Ivan. Also some of you may knock them but CRed w/shop under Lumpy Campbell is another one to consider.
