You would have had to get a Letter of Compliance from a compliance company to get the car in. As far as I am aware , you are locked in with them ( FORS ruling ) unless they have closed Ken

What IS going to happen is the prices in Japan will creep up. We won't be allowed to import damaged or accident repaired cars and they will have to be BOG standard to be licensed. Any grade 3.5 or up will be at a premium cos we'll be fighting the Kiwi's for them Ken

Don't know which state your in but this is how it works for WA Once the vehicle has been bought from auction (and it depends which auction as well) the car is sent to the closest port that ships to W A. We usually only get one ship or so a month( problem 1) and it leaves Japan on about the 28th and arrive around the 12/14th of the next month.Yes my GTR is due in 2 days. The car has to be at the holding yard in Japan by about the 25th to get on the ship( problem 2).The broker will get the BL ( bill of lading ) from his Japan contact about 5/7 days before the ship is due in Perth( problem 3). All going well , it gets offloaded, transported to compliancer and down the licensing centre in about 8/10 days after(problem 4). Ask your broker if he has the BL yet , if not go back to problem 2 and work from there. Ken

err no Import duty is on the FOB ( free on board ) cost only, which is auction price plus agent cost and internal freight ( usually 90,000 yen ) ie car cost is $2300 plus agent fee etc $1343 = $3643 x 15% =$547

Actually , it should be car cost +15% import duty +shipping should be $1500 + 10% GST on whole lot + compliance R32 $2500 plus tyres and onroad costs Ken
