I belong to 3 other clubs that are CAMS affiliated and to be perfectly honest , it's a head **** that I don't really want. Ask yourself how many of the club members are going to regularly and seriously compete in events that require a CAMS lic. what you have to realise is that by going down this path , all events we run will have to be to CAMS rules with the appropriate fees paid ( yes , even a cruise or static display). There are reports to be filled in , permits to obtain , stewards to find etc etc. My opinion is that for the serious ones , there is ample car clubs they can join to get the CAMS benefits which are cheap and for the rest we keep it a more social club with cruises etc that if something goes wrong , then there is nothing formal.
