  1. Colder plug means it will take heat , boost and thrashing better without melting or dropping the electrode off. A hotter plug is used in colder conditions to aid starting or is used on a worn , oil consuming engine which would foul a colder plug. Phucked with your head enough ?? Cheers Ken
  2. And it would be a pretty hot cylinder head to cause that. Cheers Ken
  3. thats called pinging. Cheers Ken
  4. Nah stuff it, just walk over and deck him. Hehehe Tell us first so we can set up seats and get the beer and chips out. Cheers Ken
  5. Gap to .7 or .8 mm cos most of the modern plugs gap to 1.1mm hence the 11 on the end of the plug number. The large gap is what gives a bigger stronger spark because it makes the coil build up a larger voltage to fire the spark across the gap. The trouble is with turbo engines running larger than stock boost will blow the spark out while it jumps the gap ( simplistic terminology ) hence the need for a smaller gap , which then gives a weaker spark and is the reason why splitfire or cdi type ignitors are reqd on BIG boost engines. Got it ? Cheers Ken
  6. Not quite ( poetic license it's called ) but he did come on with an attitude asking if you were here. Cheers Ken
  7. errr 6 is hotter than 7 . NGK goes the other way to most heat range spark plugs. Cheers Ken
  8. Yea , riiiiight. Is that why he came in here last night looking for the poof in the cowcatcher R33. Cheers Ken
  9. But you need resistance plugs if the car is electronic computer managed according to the tech article. Or have I missed something ? Cheers Ken
  10. WRX's recommend every 50,000km but some of the ones running higher boost need them earlier. Cheers Ken
  11. Watch it or I will get CC to do a flyby:D Cheers Ken
  12. Why ?? Iridiums last about 50K KM while NGK std plugs ( bout $2.50 ea ) last bout 15K KM. Cheers Ken
  13. Nah , don't want to scare you and besides , car needs to be scrutineered and have a fire extinguisher. I will take the Maverick and a tow rope cos somehow I think it will be needed. Cheers Ken
  14. Huh ?? Cheers Ken
  15. Shit yea, best time to run em. Plenty sideways action with no tyre wear. Cheers ken
  16. All day starting at 9am at the racetrack. Instruction sess in the morning and hot laps after lunch. I won't be taking any R's up cos one is at CRed and the other is going for pre sale inspection Tuesday. Cheers Ken
  17. Be careful about revving to 8800. The rods and or bolts have been know to part company if you buzz a std one to 9K on a regular basis. I usually find it's all over by 7500 anyway. Cheers Ken
  18. Got a WRX club training day at Wanners tomorrow which will be VERY interesting. Cheers Ken
  19. Betcha he will do a glue and say bye for the next 3 pages. Cheers Ken
  20. Macka you ain't see me drink cos you only go to places where I have to drive home. If I was staying or getting a lift home , well then you would see some...... Micko , unsure about the diff but think you need resistor plugs with electronic ignition. Doesn't Hendo recommend BCPR7es-11 or something like that Cheers Ken
  21. Christ !! is that right. Looks like they had better build a bigger dam with the amount of booze I consume. Cheers Ken
  22. BTW , because I can't be assed reading back , how much did they end up being? I got a set of JUN gears for the R and just trying to ascertain whether they were a good price. Cheers Ken
  23. Sucks , I thought it blows ?? Cheers Ken:D
  24. Yep your right , might have bought a very expensive half cut. And I will hi to the missus for you cos I'm blaming you for me still being up. Wait till she sees you at Albany.lol Cheers Ken
  25. Nope , there usually the third set and are two thin rings with a wavy scraper thing. Not a real problem cos oil is cheap but it is telling you that the engine is getting tired. More boost and bigger terbs will kill it quick which is why I might as well get it done on mine now. That and r and r the engine is like an 8 hr job. Also finally found out mine has a nismo sprung twin plate and is in good nick so that's a bonus. Cheers Ken
