Once you have imported it, you own it, good or bad. If your at all concerned about that then suggest you only buy one already here and get it checked by a competent w/shop who are familiar with them. We are based in WA and see GTR's all the time here and there are still some good ones come in. Not many, but a few. Our price for a full inspection including cylinder leakage and compression test is $180. BTW, the 89 import rule is closed now and all future ones will have to be near stock plus compliancing will be more expensive. Makes the ones already here a lot more attractive now. Cheers Ken

All extra. That price is just to remove the engine and the essential fluids required to refit the engine. Cheers Ken

Ahhh Butler, you must have bought Christians car. Nice buy, he was a tad anal about it.. PS , if it's him then he is a nice guy and can hook you up with a killer home theatre system. Cheers Ken

undoing main pully bolt - any tips??
gtrken replied to Driver's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
You should have asked us while it was in the shop Brendan Place 30mm socket on pulley nut with LOOOOONNNGG bar on LH chassis rail and then hit the key... Ooops, that's right, no wiring... Hmmmmm Remove Rad and get decent rattle gun... Cheers Ken -
I will have one of those please. That is cheaper than our purchase price, let alone fitting and tuning it for a GTR. Cheers Ken

Plenty of time and the cost of the R34 GT-T's will come down a bit yet by December. TT races are mad aren't they?? Drove the course the last time I was there and still can't work out how Tony pond managed that 100mph lap . Cheers ken

Why would he want your old clutch unless he is rebuilding them? We throw the old ones out, they are worthless to us. As I said, we use a NEW pressure plate, not a rebuilt one. Thre is nothing wrong with a rebuilt one, we just prefer to use new. To answer your PM, we are based in WA and shipping would make it expensive as there heavy but we may be able to do a deal for 10 or more of $590 plus shipping. Cheers Ken

Factory idle is 950 rpm. Looks neat. Have fun with it. Cheers Ken

Mate, if you can't even get the metal cover, I wouldn't be changing the pump. You will also need to get the crankshaft pulley off, timing belt off and tensioner loosened before you can even get to the pump. If you are at all not confident with your ability to get it back together correctly, I wouldn't... Cheers Ken

I have bought and sold 7 GTR's ( all R32 ) over the last 3 or so years. reason being ( apart from trashing one in Targa Tasmania ) has been because I need the money at the time. I then regret selling them and buy another one. They will keep you poor and they can make you cry when things go wrong but i haven't driven anything yet that compares with the grunt, handling and sheer fun factor. And I have owned over 60 cars in my time. No I am not a dealer, I just love cars and at my age I still enjoy the GTR immensely which is why I have ordered another one from Japan.... Keep it man, enjoy it for the rocket ship it is and love it to death, complete with it's faults. Your a long time dead, enjoy em while you can Cheers Ken

R32GTS-T Cat back exhaust with angled cannon muffler $760 plus fitting Cheers Ken
-
all about the same price, $200 which isn't bad considering it holds 3x 60mm gauges and most pillar pods hold 2 and are around $150-$180 for good ones. Cheers Ken

The R32 ones sit on top of the instrument bezel and curves over the lh side next to the wiper switch. Our Targa Prepped R32GTR has one on but it's in Tassy atm so no pics sorry. These ones are made from injection moulded plastic with a stippled finish on them and all that is required is 2 or 4 small screw holes in the dash. As the R33 ones sit below the w/screen line, they cant get defected for vision impairment. They even come with some double sided tape but don't know how strong that would be. cheers Ken
-
We have one here for an R33 GTS-T and they sit on the middle of the dash. $200 and it's brand new. BTW, they do them for A31's as well. Cheers Ken

Yea, what he said above. Seriously though, the car is still on the market sort of. The RB25 box was sold to a desperate client but the RB20 box still lives and the new manifold has just arrived today. New teins are fitted and exhaust has been done. Every time I drive it , I swear I don't want to sell it but the wife is applying pressure as the GTR is due next month Ring me at work if your serious but I DON'T want a rex, sorry. Cheers Ken

Autronic IS Australian. So now you have learnt a bit more. Cheers Ken

Steve is correct and the other little problem is the 2 small nuts on the sump which can only be undone with the gearbox out as there inside the bellhousing. Best to budget on engine out which varies between $800-$1.5K to remove and replace using new gaskets, oil, filter, diff oil, coolant etc. Cheers Ken

1990 R32 GTR For Sale/Swap.
gtrken replied to drewecrome's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Which part of this comment isn't bagging???? Only a plate on the speedo? The original ones were 180kmh and I doubt very much that it is the original speedo under the * plate* as you call it. Way to check is pull it out and check the date stamp on the back. But I reckon you won't want to do that. I don't need to affect the sale of your car, because your derogatory comments in regards to other import shops and the defensive nature of your posting is doing it for you. Good luck with the sale -
1990 R32 GTR For Sale/Swap.
gtrken replied to drewecrome's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
I don't think you need to bag out every other import company dude. They all buy from the same auctions and they can all supply good cars if the customer wants to pay the money... Ohh and btw, how can you tell it has done a * genuine * 58K when it has a Impul 300kmh speedo in it. They didn't come from the factory with those. Mods, I think it's time to close this one..... Cheers Ken -
Richard, i can understand your reluctance to sell it and I always regret selling all the ones I have had. But it's time to move on so sell it to me dammit !! hehehe My client is still keen Seriously, I would be looking for a good s/hand engine and put it back togehter. You will tear up less money than if you sold it in the condition it's in as you told me how much you payed originally. That is a lot to throw away... Cheers ken

if its a GTR then I would say the clutch booster has shat the diaphragm. The GTR's have a small booster which the clutch m/cyl attaches to and has a vacuum hose running to it. Take the hose off and plug it to see if the sound stops. The clutch pedal will get real heavy but that is because it will have no vacuum assistance. It works the same as the brake booster assistance. Cheers Ken

err, colour change, repaint and carbon fibre bonnet plus different front bar?? In my mind, immaculate is a bit closer to original than that. Mind you, looks nice. Cheers Ken

We check and do an inspection report on quite a few that come into WA when the clients pick them up from the wharf. On the average, they aren't bad but certainly haven't seen any immaculate examples for a while. All have compression/cylinder leakage tests as part of the inspection of which most are reasonable, a few very good and the rest seem to magically appear in the local papers for sale as immaculate shortly after we give them the bad news about there lack of engine life.... Read into that what you will. People forget that they are a 15 year old, race based, usually owned by 3 or more drift/race wannabes and when they won't pass a Jap roadworthy are then sold overseas. I HAVE seen a couple of really good ones, one of which I since sold on, but on an average you get what you pay for. The japs are not stupid, they recognise an immaculate low km genuine example is worth far more than some shitter and the auction prices will reflect the good ones. Cheers Ken

Good stuff Clint. Glad to see Glenn's dog training worked. ( in joke people, don't get upset ) Cheers Ken
