AGREED FUN! FUN! Its going to be fun. A day of letting loose and going nuts on the track with no silly speed limits and coppers annoying you. Hooray for race tracks i say! With the classing perhaps throw up some final ideas and everyone can vote on it and go from there. Obviously the fairest system is whats wanted for the majority, not the minority.

unless your cat is hollowed out then... stock cat why??? You dont think it will be a restriction in all that work?
-
exactly...blame the hippies dammit! lol Its part of the atmosphere to have loud cars...racing with cars in their natural untamed state roaring and hissing whether its v8s or turbos...wish people who werent involved in motorsport would understand and accept that. Just means people are gonna have to run a large muffler to reduce the noise.
-
They are good for street use and spirited mountain driving. Used them once at a race meet and the new pads only lasted just that..one meeting. Very dusty though.
-
woah alf thats exactly what i did to ours. haha i wasnt too keen on brazing the extra thickness to the block either.
-
perhaps if we wait long enough all the idiots will die off and only the responsibly people will be left? Something along the lines of natural selection... But obviously as population increases and more 17 year olds get on the street in cars there are going to be more accidents...you cant expect accidents to decrease when driving population increases. nice and simple eh?

Uas One Piece Tailshaft
r33_racer replied to Greg's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well its not that you cant think of one, its that most racing regs stipulate you MUST have one and for obviously good reasons too. Ive shot my std tailshaft out before and its scary when you look at the damage they do when they fly out.... -
Good Rb26 Single Turbo Manifold?
r33_racer replied to gawdzilla's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
stainless goes brittle after its been exposed to too much heat. Its the same when welding it. It seems to be hard to find a properly constructed manifold these days. Plus the stainless manifolds go dull and grey from the heat and only look good (bling factor) for the first month or two. It wouldnt matter if it was totally wrapped though. Without the wrapping the mild steel radiates less heat and helps keep underbonnet temps down where the ss radiates it massively if not wrapped, so i guess a wrapped ms would be ultimate. That was the biggest difference i noticed when changing from ss to ms manifolds, the radiating heat. Not only that but with the 6boost manifold we saw a straight out 300-400rpm earlier boost and power incline. That was the biggest thing our tuners complimented on when the car went back to them. -
you can you just need to get an aftermarket rail that supports top feed. Buy that and yourself some top feed injectors and bolt it up and possibly reqire the plugs if required.

Rebuilding Rb25det, What Else Do I Need
r33_racer replied to S1R33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Surely std rb25 rods will hold 300rwkws. Normally at that stage pistons are first to go unless the tune is spot on. Im in the process of putting my rb25 back together as well. ACL pistons though. Im also only gonna be around 250rwkws max 300. I have same headgasket and similar bolt ons. Im using std rods and bolts and if someone says to change to GTR ones im gonna kill someone cause those stupid farking spiral locks are a goddamn prick to put on and i really dont wanna do it again -
ok so thats easy then ill bring a set of semis and full slicks and have a go at both and see how it pans out. So at least my times on the semis will count for something if im quick enough.
-
57's around the sprint track and normally 1:20's around the national with best time being a 1:19.7. However those times are my old mans and the most recent, last time i went out the car was completely different, but my times were much the same as his and i cant recall what i was running. I should be having a go at the next sprint and top gear event so i should have some indication of my times before the Time Attack. However the car is gonna be different again with further mods happening before the next lot of meetings. So like i said other cars will be faster then us, possibly more if im not upto scratch.
-
yes that is getting complicated. Perhaps I will just run on semi's if possible for the day. Even though it is a race car i honestly dont think it will be the quickest car there. There are some serious gtrs attending, so you cant alienate me just because my car is 2a logged. But i do get where your coming from Harry. I get pissed off in the same way that we have to run with the westfields and kit cars at QR and MP and you just cant beat them. So id imagine that people would get frustrated with a race car going up against road cars. Anyway its upto Paul about the classes and what not. Im happy to abide by any of the rules he wants to implement about the time classifications and the sort. At the end of the day its all experience for me as my time with the race car is limited because my old man hogs it
-
dunno price but maybe on the back of a flatbed. We had a semi trailer dropped off from adelaide the other day on the back of a flatbed.
-
It depends on how much detail you want to go into for breaking up the classes. It could be easier to just state if the car is road/race and the tyres used. But i can assure you there will be road cars quicker then race cars there. If you made a category for cars on slicks....who else would be in it bar myself? Is there anyone else out there yet who has run on slicks? However the sprints at qr are split up into road and race cars with each group comprised of cars that run similar times.
-
i will do that mate. I know and agree with what your saying people shouldnt wait till all the mods they can do are done before they go out and have some fun. I took the point about the stock car being quicker then a lightly modded car as the main point there and focused on that. Anyway i know its not a race, only a time race.
-
i think gtr geoff has them.
-
aww but i dont have 4 wheel drive and they have more experience then me. thats a big part i believe....my lack of experience. Not only that they arent exactly lightly modded gtrs are they? Just for the record weve found that directly swapping from hard semis to medium compound slicks shows about a good 1.5 second improvement straight off. On an awd car probably more, some of the fellas in wrxs claim as good as 2.5-3 seconds straight off....thats a big improvement.
-
half of them probably dont even have motors in them. Sell the motor and drivetrain to pay for the kit/paint job and wheels...wouldnt that make sense? Well its what i would do if i was going for an autosalon trophy.

Good Rb26 Single Turbo Manifold?
r33_racer replied to gawdzilla's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
6boost manifolds. http://www.6boost.com/ Site atm is only a homepage, but has his email and mobile phone number. Kyle - 0410 730 598 [email protected] Great work, they are cast mild steel pipe with extra thick flanges, gives a lifetime warranty on cracking. But to be safe its wise to support it with some extra bracing. -
Yes i know what you said. "If you can drive a stock GTST to it's limmit you will be quicker than a lot of modded cars and a few GTRs.....Have fun with YOUR car" And i was saying that it will be harder to push a std gtst then a modded one, with good driver ability or without it. You are all for the just drive for fun thing, not being competitive or anything like that then thats fine, but most people have modified cars and like to modify them so they can go faster and be more competitive whilst still having fun if not more fun then when the car was std. I wasnt attacking your post, i was just saying that a modified car will be easier to do say a flat 60 around the sprint track with only driving at say 70% of your ability, with room for a quicker time as the ability and effort goes up. Where say a std gtst you would be hanging on the edge of that ability, the cars and your own to make that flat 60. Because you would be near that limit so often, mistakes are bound to happen. I apologise if you took my post the wrong way, i was actually pissed this morning when i wrote that haha. But everyone is different, you like to just go out for fun and have fun just in the fact your actually racing around the track with basic car mods which is kewl, or people like me who like to go out and be competitive and have fun. Eitherway were all still having fun right? Hopefully next qld 500 i will see you out there mate. Hope you accept my apology, i dont want any shitfights with fellow nissan drivers/racers

Where To Get Tow Hooks For The Track?
r33_racer replied to someonestolecc's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
yeh just fab up something yourself. Nothing to it. -
This is going to be truly awesome. Im keen to see how we go againt Giant and maccattack, a gtst vs two gtrs lol...sound even?
-
Try these guys http://www.asianautospares.com.au/ Asian Auto Spares. Great blokes down there. Would rate them a 9/10 One of their blokes that works there races a red silvia out at qr. Top bloke and a quick car. Not that it has anything to do with it, but yeh...
-
Yeh but the trick is actually being able to safely push the stock car to the limit and be able to hold it there all the time, rather then always pushing it over the limit and losing time. A modded car is alot easy to drive and hold near the limit so to say as its been built to do that.
