  1. yep revolution racegear was gonna be my answer...that price rings a bell. I used one in the pool last summer, i cant tell the difference.
  2. yep that must be the race my old man was talking about...sweet...good job...he said seton just couldnt catch him, the 31 was just that little bit quicker.
  3. heard one of the 31's won the historic racing.....hooray for skylines.
  4. .63 is fine...infact that should bring boost on nice and quickly.
  5. Funny you mention that I had a BP servo attendant who asked me if I could turn my turbos off at will, and then asked if they would turn off by themselves when the car turned off....i had to hold back the laughter so hard.
  6. Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! Buuuullllllllshit! I enjoyed the fact that they won, cant see why everyone else was upset?
  7. lol Gary, we have a stainless flex pipe from dump pipe to the short exhaust system(about 2 mtrs worth) we have which goes out infront of the rear p.s wheel, and that short part is supported by three rubber hangers, one off the gearbox subframe, one off the tailshaft loop we made up and the one just near the sil where the exhaust exits. Everywhere upto the stainless flex is supported, only the dump pipe hangs off the turbo. Is that setup really so bad? Does it fall within your 99% category?? Not being rude either. For the next manifold im gonna put another mount off the engine/gearbox bell housing whichever i can use the easiet to hold the dump pipe from the back of the turbo, and then a bracket from the manfiold to the head somewhere. I think that should be sufficient. Just a note also, none of the cracks on the manifold were around the runners or in typical stress points.
  8. OK sweet that does clear it up then. Makes sense. Cause I measured the wall thickness and it was 5mm, so that adds up.
  9. around 400bhp atm, so not much...well actually if it was a shootout mode power figure then it would be about 480bhp. Were still only on a run in tune...full tune will come in the next few weeks. Id imagine up around 550bhp next tune.
  10. The gap on the plugs might be too big and causing the mis. Aim for around 0.8mm gap. But i dont think you can modify platinum plugs, cause the coating can crack off. Try a set of plain coppers.
  11. Yep, that sounds right, the blokes next door to us have one, got a ball on a little arm that sits inside the bending radius and stops deformation of the pipe like what happens with plain press bending. moral of the story is the manifolds are good, and im calling it mild steel pipe
  12. ok well once again, it wouldnt be a steam pipe...it would be a mandrel bend. So im lost. Yeh shane, that pipe aint heated up with steam and bent. In most circumstances the name of the pipe comes from its main application in its line of work. Unless there is something ive missed i think this is just a case of mismatched term and its stuck to it, or 'steam pipe' is the new 'modern' name for mild steel pipe.
  13. Ok can someone tell me what their version of steam pipe is? Cause in boilermaking terms steam pipe is chrome/molybdenum pipe used in power station boilers. Now the manifolds, in trady terms are sure as shit not made of chromemoly pipe. They are just mild steel pipe, where the term 'steam pipe' comes from is beyond me. Someone enlighten my humble metal fabricating brain please Cause im getting confused here. Cheers.
  14. z32 afm wont give any power increase....but it gives the ecu more scope for airflow with using bigger turbos and more boost and more fuel. It will only be useful when you go for the larger turbo, but regardless with the powerfc it wont hurt to put it on now...its one less thing to do later on. Boost gauge doesnt matter...i know heaps of people who just use the commander to monitor all the engine stats including boost. There is no special thing to do, just do whatever your comfortable with and suits your taste.
  15. Um Kyles manifolds arent stainless steel...they are just plain mild steel...unless he made a one off special for you or something. Hes totally against the use of s.s for manifolds. But they are of awesome quality, im very impressed with it so far.
  16. Well when i spoke to some bloke here in aus..cant remember who the dude told me, the Link was based off a powerfc in some form or fashion and blah blah blah..anyway that was his spill to me...i got a powerfc instead Whether it is or it isnt is beyond my knowledge or caring for that matter....id support motec first before i supported a Link...Go Aussies!
  17. Yeh my guess was around that figure. 15-20k. That will be one tough engine. Im guessing for drags? If it counts for anything were using the REV I beam rods from Hioctane in our rb30det Note they dont have the conrod oil squirters in them, so your relying on splash feed from the crank. We havent had any problems yet...
  18. Shane, only way to know for sure is to call Kyle and ask him about it. Im pretty sure he would be able to do it. Hes a nice guy and easy to get along with, im sure he could do something for you. 0410730598 - Kyle 6BOOST Manifolds
  19. dont load a crap me...i told you they are made in NZ...what was i lying about there?
  20. lowmounts keep cooler as they keep the turbos in the down low position where nissan put them to catch the wind draft that runs in the lower section of the engine bay, not only that, they are away from the wiring which gets melted and brake lines heating up.
  21. kiwis like them cause its a kiwi product...i believe they are made in the backshed of a sheep station somewhere in NZ. From what ive heard they basically copied the powerfc, or so a link distributor told me.
  22. If a motec is outta your reach, then so is making a 26/30 rev to 10k. That is going to be one expensive engine.
  23. The stainless exhaust manifold we got on the race car is shithouse in terms of life span...they cant handle the heat and go brittle and then crack...just like our one, not even a year old and its falling to pieces. We got a nice 6boost m/s manifold ready to go on, which i think will do the trick, plus the design looks alot better for flow. Kyle seems to think we should see about a 2-300rpm decrease in lag just from his manifold. And best part, he gives a lifetime warranty on cracks! woot!
  24. speedo is out because you need that circuit board that converts 6 cylinder pusles into 4 cylinder pulses so the factory 180 tacho can read it properly. I believe you can find it on the calais forums somewhere, how to make the circuit. Or get an aftermarket tacho and wire it up directly to the computer tacho signal wire. Speedo should work properly if its a sr20 speedo drive in the r32 gearbox. Odometer i have no idea.
  25. youve got to be kidding me....where the hell does everyone get these magical hp figures from????? People making over 400hp out of a small rear gt35 on such reasonable boost levels. That other bloke with the rb25 with a gt30r with the .63 rear and usual mods making 300rwkws on 14psi!!!!! WTF? Im so lost....all i can say is that so many dynos must be all over the place....bigtime in some circumstances.
