I believe i figured out more when i actually had the parts in front of me and started fiddling with it, rather then relying just on what i could see in the guide from the pics and or descriptions...maybe some people just dont have very good mechanical feel or understanding...meh i dunno, do a trade instead of going to uni and sitting in an office, but if your the latter then you should be able to pay someone to build it for you All i was implying (if your attacking my proposal) was that certain parts of the guide i was unclear about until i actually had the block and head infront of me to look at and understand exactly what i needed to do.

YEH GOOD LUCK PEOPLE...lol wish i was sick and have payed to come along...i could sneak out the race car while everyone else is working...hahahaha

Check your injectors, if one injector isnt running it will sound like a wrx straight off. I would have the car running, and unplug them one by one if you can, and see if the idle gets worse or doesnt change...if it doesnt get worse on a certain injector then you may have found your problem. Alternatively it could be the rich n retard has fouled your plugs up, and they need to be cleaned, and possibly regapped to something like .7-.8 I use that gap typically.

This is a really kick ass website with all the information you need, plus whats in the guide. There isnt alot of bullshit in here either, unless your referring to posts that dont actually relate to doing the conversion directly, but more like idle chat or other problems associated with it. a/m intake manifold will help with your height clearance issue. a/m exhaust manifold i guess you need for your a/m turbo with an external wastegate, may flow better then a std one also, depends on what type. Read the guide, if your keen to do it, get your block and head and start having a look at it if your doing it yourself, you will gain a far better understanding this way. If you get stuck somewhere either ask in here, or just do a search for something at the bottom of one of the pages in this topic and you should get a good answer from somewhere within the near 200 pages. good luck.

yeh thats probably right...old man said he was sorta all over the track, he never stuck to any line...just wandered all over the track, and the ferrari just let him take any line no matter how far or wide it was and made up for any lack of ability...i believe its pure awesomeness just kept him infront....if it wasnt so awesome id bet he wouldnt have done soo good.

lol azzurra i wasnt actually there sunday to tell the truth....issues with gf and stuff didnt get me any sleep all night...so i didnt wake up till midday and by the time i got ready i didnt see the point in going out at about 2pm....so yeh...it would have been either my old man, uncle or big chubby fella a mate of ours, so yeh they would have had no idea who you were...lol sorry bout that...i only made it for saturday. It was my old man driving it sunday...im up for racing at next short circuit meeting at warwick at the end of this month...on the 30th i believe. Yes the swaybar was a trial custom one from SK trying to clear our high energy sump on the 25/30 in the car, hopefully the next try we will get it closer to the sump and not foul on anything lol. It sits about 80mm off the ground atm. So yeh, its not friendly to jacking or loading and unloading and ripple strips. 9krpm - for any suspension stuff pm Sydneykid, i recommend him highly, hes been extremely helpful with our custom shit for the racecar. The topgear events are on the sunday following the SAS, its basically qrs equivalent to proper cams racing, grid start etc etc, but through their track and insurance association. Ive watched some video footage from the day, and that ferrari is quick, but our car has only been tuned on 1.2 bar atm, which is bugger all, its making 320hp at the rears and buckets of torque, but the full tune should see 25pounds...were hoping for 400-450hp.....plus when we put in the new suspension...im hoping we will go straight past that ferrari. It would be nice to rub that in, you just got beat by a 10g skyline(with lots more spent on it though). haha im an arsehole, the other bloke in the gt3 porsche i believe is the guys son, father and son duo old man gets ferrari and son gets the porsche.

sweet mate...the more the merrier and better, we can form a skyline circuit racing alliance...boot all the oldskool stuff out hahahahaha
-
cheers mate. Its slowly getting there. Takes time to do something and then nut out the problems with it before its all good and reliable. Sunday was better though, oil problem fixed and car all good actually got to run the car throughout the day racsov500 you should have said hello mate.
-
Ahh no photos of the car when it shat itself....a myriad of problems set in as soon as the first lap of the test n tune started....throttle body idle screw came loose and worked its way forward and the butterfly was stuck on like 1/3 open and woudlnt stop revving....then i/c piping popped off, and then the final problem which farked the whole day was the threaded fitting on the oil cooler for the sandwich plate to bolt onto (normally for oil filter) sheared off and we lost a great deal of oil...yeh...all fixed now for top gear tomorrow. Very annoying, all the effort into getting the 25/30 done intime and the custom swaybar wasted its recked our points for the sprints. With the current setup we estimated about a 57 around the sprint circuit. Pear you should have said hello, so I would have recognised another person from here. I was in the jeans and grey jumper, but there was a 2 hour gap were i was gone off to autobarn to try and get some emergency parts to get us running again... no such luck though.

engine light coming on is normally knock or airflow problem. But as Blitz said whoever tuned it last has locked the powerfc so you couldnt fiddle with anything, you obviously need to go back to that tuner and get them to unlock it and sort out the maps.
-
well we got our shit organised....got a custom swaybar up from whiteline just in time, fitted it yesterday and its all good except that it sits about 80mm off the ground haha...gonna wipe it out on a ripple strip or something if we spin out. We pumped the guards enough to take the new slicks we got for the rear, fitted new wing, got the car tuned and got the fuel cell fitted. How about you azzurra? Your r32 ready or near it?
-
umm if its after then that might be your problem, you want it before the butterfly plate so its on the charge pipe side...not the plenum side. As typically you would have it off the turbo charger housing or somewhere around there on your intercooler piping. I believe that for quickest response you try and set it at a point closest to the pressure source...which is your compressor outlet.
-
You need to check if that vacuum line on the throttle goes to the hole before or after the butterfly plate. It might be on the wrong side.
-
So its setup like in the diagram.
-
our wastegate atm is a 38mm one a 48mm one is about to go on...but our pipe length is just a 45 degree bend straight out and towards the floor and it would only be like 200mm in overall length. It sounds tough out at the track. It actually overpowers everyother car out there in terms of exhaust note and loudness.
-
If you widen the track at the rear significantly or maybe not even by much it will cause understeer as the rear has more grip then the front.

Proposed Kilcoy Circuit No More
r33_racer replied to AzzurrA's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
the lady that owned the land pulled out....silly old lady listened to her lawyer and i guess hes againt motorsport...wasnt in her financial interest to invest in getting the new track up and running.... i hate people who dont like motorsport! -
I wish we could say that....but they seem to have this amazing ability to rattle off extremely good times....drives you insane. You do a 59 round the sprint circuit and then they come round and go yeh...had abit of a tough one but i managed a 56....then your jaw hits the ground....shit 3 seconds faster....well we got a suprise for them now hehe.
-
we should be out there with the 33 race car. Assuming we get the custom swaybar intime. It will be good to see more skylines out there, besides the usual 2 or 3, and million wrxs. Heres a crappy photo of our car...if you see us come have a chat. Dont ask about the stickers...my old man chose them. We need more skylines in the sprints and top gear racing...need to overpopulate everything

That would be a great idea for the fuel system, but you wont need to change the line size. Its a big job to do that, if your gonna change a few lines to 3/8 then you would need to change all the fuel lines to 3/8 all the way along the chassis rail. Thats alot of line. I will give a full description on boost and rpm and everything else. There are a few others who have got that turbo on their rb30 hybrids who im sure can fill you in on those details.
-
Our car is getting tuned at the moment, will hopefully have a figure tomorrow arvo....we have a 35/40 0.82 rear on it. I will be sure to post it all up on the rb30 hybrid power sticky.

lol actually i was in a tired silly mood, i was gonna say 'magic' was the only thing left. But yes excessive crankcase pressure, but wouldnt the dipstick have shot through the bonnet? Perhaps not to that extent. Remove it and inspect, look for a blockage of somesort. I would think it would be pretty hard to block up a 3/4" hose, unless its further up in the arse end of the turbo itself before the hose. Your catch can system is breathing right? It hasnt recently sprayed out excess oil over your intake system maybe? We had a similiar problem with the race car, pcv was stuck open half way and boost was leaking out into the rocker covers and forcing oil into the catch can and then spraying it out the breather and straight onto the filter and through the afm and into the turbo. Safe to say no more pcv into intake manifold anymore hehe
-
bugga! Well that only leaves us with one thing then.....
-
Do you have your breather hose going back into your intake pipe like std setup does? If so then the case is simply any blowbly/bad breath is going through your intake system and into your pipes. If you dont, then yeh....magic perhaps?
-
We used the std throttle cable. We just modified the std bracket to suit...no slack at all...its nice and responsive and tight And yes big thanks for slide for the diagram. I could not for the life of me get that diagram from the supra forums, wouldnt let me access it, even when i signed up. Had most of it worked out, just wasnt sure on the actual throttle switch. Always great to know others will help out when you get stuck.
