  1. Looking good mate! Hopefully you slam the events. Stick it to the v8 mob
  2. Yeh that is very true.
  3. That is impressive! Well it shouldnt be too hard for him to make the same power if not more but with more response.
  4. What Noel said mate! But if you do manage over 400 with the .82 ill be impressed, especially if the backpressure isnt stupid and you can keep egts below 800c and stop the turbo from shitting itself the first time you go do a track day.
  5. Not very often that is the case though, actually hardly ever is that the case.
  6. I would also add poor machining. If the machine work is no good and the assembler doesnt double check then there could be a problem.
  7. Car looks sweet mate. That is good power for an rb25 too!
  8. Mate, you are not wrong! Ive spent more time just looking at it some nights then actually working on it lol. Yeh, having it plumbed in this configuration is alot simpler. It would be a nightmare doing it any differently as space is a huge issue!
  9. Yeh prevent loose casting flash from coming off and clogging the oil pickup screen. Also helps oil return as it slides down the walls back to the sump. When coarse it holds alot of oil. But it will also strengthen the block, be it an immeasurable amount by removing stress risers from the rough finish along the casting joints. But most importantly the inside of your block looks nicer! lol.
  10. Awesome stuff man. It is looking great!
  11. I agree with you there, but I get abit anal when doing stuff like that and when some bits looked out of place or not as nice as others I just had to keep going until it was satisfactory. A little ocd sometimes....If I had more time I would have gone over it with the cartridge rolls and got it proper smooth lol.
  12. Love your build mate. Looks good. I like that your build is abit different to 99% of the others....the whole no turbo gig. It should make for a good reliable and responsive engine.
  13. lol nice. I did the exact same thing to my rb25 not that long ago but I spent about half a day or more doing mine.
  14. I am hoping to go, but only if I get the car finished in time and sorted. If not then I wont bother going. Turbo is assembled and bolted on loosely. Everything appears good so far. Need to get oil and water lines sorted now!
  15. Just the two vents and one drain bung. Exhaust side has two extra oil returns. I have oil return from charger, oil return from turbo, oil return from side of head between 3 & 4 and oil return from std front.
  16. The engine is assembled, im just bolting on manifolds and getting everything sorted before it goes back into the car. Dummy fitting things to make sure they still line up and will work then getting ready for final assembly. It really takes alot more time then you think. Then you lose stuff or misplace special cut down bolts and studs and got to remake them. Its quite aggravating when things progress so slowly. Thats pretty well it as it sits now, except I have the exhaust manifold bolted on and the supercharger mounted. Will get more pictures tonight when I hopefully get the turbo assembled and bolted up!
  17. I dont think it would handle the heat. Unless it was purpose made to suit with bigger rotor clearances and whatnot. Other then that I cant see why it wouldnt work, so long as you can overcome the engineering difficulties in fitting it and setting up the drive for it. But anything is possible with enough time and money!
  18. Yeh it got sold! He has also sold out of all his new stroker kits too! Gotta wait for a while now.
  19. Seems to be broken on the thrust side. Did he explain why? Also, is that the exhaust side or inlet side we are looking at there?
  20. Would the car start or run if the map sensor line had been cut or popped off?
  21. Nah. I already bought a Reimax pump which I have atm. It has a slightly higher flow capability then the nitto and I think I will need as much as I can get as im running loose clearances and feeding both the turbo and charger from the engines oil supply. Hopefully tomorrow when I get some time I will be able to write some kind of spiel on the engine build. Be warned I have limited photos as Its a little difficult to take some of myself doing stuff!
  22. I think from what Ian is saying its not a race car. Hence why alot of our ideas arent really practical for his application.
  23. Well you are increasing the combution chamber capacity when you go a thicker headgasket (unless you have custom pistons that protrude above the deck anymore then normal), which means a lower static compression ratio which means less power in NA form or off boost form. Thats what makes the engine doughier until you start jamming boost in there.
