  1. absolutely nothing wrong with a HE sump, been used and proven in circuit racing with no problems whatsoever. No surging, they increase oil capacity by atleast 3 litres over standard. Only problem is they do foul on the standard sway bar and they cost abit too for a modified second hand sump. If the swaybar is a problem, its just a matter of contacting Sydneykid about one, as i know for a fact there are modified swaybars available for r32 and r33's to accomodate the High energy sump. May not be relevant to this thread, but may help others who are in need. But a modified rb26 sump for 350 is pretty good. Worth looking at definietely.
  2. all you need is to not run an internal oil pump. 7500 internal, if external go 8 or 8.5 if it keeps making good power. If power dies off, then no point running the extra rpm obviously.
  3. haha last time i saw east coast customs workshop...well i wouldnt even call it that. I think we have more gear and knowledge then them in our back shed. haha. There really are some workshops out there that are a real joke. Stick with people that have been around for a while and are reputable, so if something does go wrong they can back up their work with support or atleast pay for something to get fixed or replaced if something does happen to go wrong without any major hassles. I would say Dan is great, and Mercury Motorsports.
  4. fark me drunk...is the knock board finished and out now is it? when we got ours it wasnt finished yet. Also heard that autronic is out plug n play now? Anyone else heard that.
  5. awesome work simon.. Yeh if you do..hit me up when you get back ill help you sort it all out. Next year you should hurry up and get a cage and come join us in the JDM class. We really need more cars in it.
  6. could you like strategically plot a race track into brisbanes roads somewhere without anyone knowing, design it in such a way that it looks like a normal bunch of roads, but only to those that know its really a sweet circuit.
  7. why not just make one? Made mine out of 10mm ally plate, bored out the guts to suit and drilled the relevent holes of which two are tapped from memory. I think there are 6 holes in total, two pick up the originals, two into the tapped holes and the other two pick up the last two q45 ones in the actual manifold. Cost me nothing, just time. A piece of ally plate wont cost bugger all and if you have the tools to do it well why not give it a go? Though i spose 90bux isnt that much if your abit slack.
  8. where do you work again? beautiful noel...love it.
  9. haha thats awesome...backyard style i love it.
  10. pfft....if it keeps making power...why not try for 9? I reckon the new motor will see atleast 8500rpm......im drooling.
  11. yeh i can see that shaney poo...dont you do anything at work mate?
  12. no difference in the sound of a screamer...atleast none i can tell from a 20, 25 or 26 even on the rb30dets... Ive had ones on both 25 and 25/30's and ive heard em on 26/30's. unless my ears are playing up i reckon they all sound the same. Like a huge arse exhaust leak, but tough on the race track, its just lame when they spit flames and melt the steering rack boots haha.
  13. farken oath....i can make anything with a welder and a big hammer Oh, dont forget my big 9" grinder also!
  14. avoiding compression lock ups, keep car balanced whilst braking and changing down gears, and lets you actually change down gears if you run a non-synchro box. Usefull for lots of things, only on the track though.
  15. that should be easily achieveable. You should be able to put that power down alot better having the extra two wheels driving it. Wheelspin is a massive inherent problem in a gtst with that sort of power, even with full slicks. You will whoop some ass at the track days.
  16. good luck with it all. Im sure you wont be disappointed when its all finished and running.
  17. i can assure you if we hadnt already gotten a set of 850cc sards then we would have gotten a billet top feed rail and some descent top feed injectors. What rules stipulate that you cant be a backyarder if you have a dogbox and alcons? Oh, heard that autronic have now come out plug n play for rb25 and rb26 with some sweet built in thingys. Like you dont need the cdi apparently as its got something similiar built in....dont know if you still need the trigger disk or not though. I could be wrong, but these are things ive just heard.
  18. yeh your right..it does fully look home job like...but we didnt want to change injectors...new rail say 200bux a set of top feeds around same cc probably another 600-800bux Or $30bux for the fittings. I cant charge the race car a labour fee either...so yeh. I think my old man wants it to look full backyard style...give off the homeless look. so when we win it doesnt look like were pro in anyway lol.
  19. if that temp reading is before the oil goes into the block after its been filtered or cooled then that is alright...but it should be lower especially if its only a street car.
  20. Finished modifying the std rb25 fuel rail. Converted it to twin feed. See, thats how you save money on buying a billet ally rail and then have to change to top feed injectors. Keep the same injectors and get a flash big hp supporting rail without having to buy it! Probably cost $30 bux in fittings as they were s/s speedflow. 30mins in labour time, drill and weld on fittings. The photos were before i cut the std feed off and welded it over. But it shows the three -6 fittings i tigged on. Rail feeds have gone from 6mm to 8mm now. Should increase flow abit.
  21. downshifting with a dog box forces you to heel-toe also..help avoid those massive CRUNCHES. Excellent for all the reasons already stated.
  22. haha...probably both
  23. getting there....putting manifolds on this arvo and then the dry sump crap and making the new lines and whatnot...hopefully will go in this weekend. Then start with doing the new fuel system and wiring in the autronic....hooray for wiring.....not! God i hate electrics.
  24. doesnt have to be full on racing...even just sprints or the time attack days even top gear. drag and drift is all over way too quick....wasnt meant to rhyme either. haha or maybe it was...
  25. thats what i was going to say....wait longer but have alot more fun for alot longer at the track. Worth it i reckon.
