Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
r33_racer replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
machine one up to about 6.05mm and bash that in...or you can tap it and use a grubscrew instead. -
1000rpm is a big drop.

since when did it need to be welded by a certified welder? have the rules changed recently? I made our roll cage in our race car and its cams approved....Coincidental i happen to be a fabricator by trade so i guess that makes me approved to weld, but at the time i wasnt aware it had to be welded by a certified welder....strange the chief cams scrutineer never mentioned that. I guess the rules have changed over the last few years. But yeh...CDS which i think had a grade of 350 or higher and chromemoly are the only properly approved materials to fabricate your cages from at least for cams spec anyway. We have a electric over hydraulic bender, right die for it and no worries with bending the tube cold.

yeh for sure....soon as the new motor is finished and in and tuned....old one didnt blow incase your wondering we just felt like building a bigger and tougher one for more power. -

All the motors weve blown have all been due to incorrect bearing clearances, thats all sorted now. Nothing wrong with the dry sump system....has been working perfectly since we put it on. Man you guys are almost over complicating the whole thing...believe me its a hell of alot easier then it sounds. There are no kits around for a gtst either, we had to custom fab everything ourselves also. Id love to see your setups to see how similiar or dissimiliar they are to ours. If its much the same as ours then i wouldnt see a reason why it wont work on your cars. Just make sure you run the inline filters to the pump, then you wont get ball bearings cracking your gears lol. Learnt that the hard way haha. -
noel...old man and me are going to keep the greddy mani on for now and then later do a straight manifold swap and do some back to back testing to see dyno and real world difference between greddy and plazmaman on a built motor....how does that sound for ya? We were arguing about it all afternoon....stupid old man, annoys the hell out of me sometimes. Just need some egt sensors in every port or lambda sensors for every port to monitor afrs for every cylinder. Hopefully we will cover most bases, not only will it help with tuning it will help log the results in terms of airflow for each cylinder and whatnot. Completely random...but i rememeber that thread we were talking about whats better and whats proven and blah blah blah...so here is our chance to actually do that for everyone.

how did you guys setup your dry sump systems? Shouldnt need to have a test dummy if its setup right from the start. -

i will be back for sure....new motor mate....more hp...then i will be back. -
To that. r33 being a cruise barge hey....ill pit my r33 against any of your cars whether it be drift, drag or circuit. Im pretty confident in the cars ability and my own at any of those three 'motorsports'. So long as its nothing on the street...well 1. cause its dangerous and stupid and 2. one of the 33's isnt exactly reg or road legal. Im far from a keyboard warrior 'like the rest' as you put it. The only people on here who have probably met me, know me or seen me or my work is Dan, Shane and Noel. Others have met me or seen me at the track also. Josh, ive known josh for quite a few years now before i was even on SAU...though i hardly see him or talk to him. Id bet those people will back me up in any regard almost and id do the same for them....im sure you will find yourself outnumbered on here. I do have alot of broadband, and i do frequent these forums i also have alot good stories whether i post them or not. Im normally on here to learn about skylines or help people with skylines. Hence why im normally always in the motorsport section or forced induction as alot of shit in the qld section is normally crap like this...which is good for a laugh and muck around, but there is never anything too serious to talk about or contribute too. Most of all i just dont like being called an overweight keyboard warrior...well because im far from it. that felt good

yeh i knew you were older...just playing mate. Havent seen you in quite a while...when you coming down to brisbane..stop hanging out in the shithole noosa...or peregian beach whichever it is.
-
finish you in a sec josh...you bloudy 15 yr old....actually youd be like 19 or 20 by now right?

whats the biggest port size on a bov these days? I know some turbosmart one we have on our race car is too small and we still get reversion. Was thinking of two std rb25 bovs. -
i think its that time of month again.....farking periods....
-
already did a cad drawing for it months ago....meh shane already said i bolted the flange to the block when i welded it....really needs to be annealed after its been welded so it stays in its bolted position rather then pulling when you take it off. But my jig idea will work...just means i gotta make one...which blows.
-
markimak...its not that i dont like you...well i probably wouldnt if i met you in RL(probably cause im carnt)...its just that i find almost everything you say extremely annoying for alot of reasons i cant explain. I also find it funny how you take the crap that gets thrown your way all the time so well, but atleast you throw it back....sometimes. I dont intend for this to be rude by any means....but i just cant get over how silly some of things you say in certain threads are. I really cant....maybe its just me and not you lol. P.S I would believe that you actually did hire out tokyo drift so you could improve your drifitng skills. Whether you claim it as a joke or not.

not advocating either way...but ive had atmo bovs on both turbo'd cars ive owned and never any dramas with backfiring/afm signals going messy. both cars had powerfcs. Yet some people seem to have heaps of dramas with such setups. having std plumbacks would be ideal for all the obvious reasons, but whether its enough when your start running higher amounts of boost or increased airflow that its big enough to bleed it all off without still choofing and slowing down the turbo. I guess you could always run a wastegate instead and plumb it back into the intake...that would work pretty good. -
yes you will need some big end bearings mate for those conrods. You got acl mains might as well go for acl big ends also. Maybe an ARP main stud kit?
-
you know dan...believe it or not i actually am a fabricator by trade...i did employ pretty well all of those techniques to stop it from distorting...still comes out abit funny though. I fully welded the whole thing bolted to a dummy rb30 block. The problem isnt flatness of the surface, as in it doesnt need to be ground so its flat, what happens is the flange sucks in(width ways)and the bolt holes dont line up perfectly. I have an idea in mind of how to fix that, but i need to make a steel jig that will replace the bottom end of the block. Apart from that little issue everything comes out pretty sweet. Ill have to get some pics up so you can see it. no more hijacking of noels thread...
-
haha...yeh you guys are suckers...as if you would work two jobs or maybe even have a hobby or two that takes up all your free time... Dan once i work out a sweet and easy to make dry sump pump bracket i reckon we should put abit more serious effort into this project. I also need to work out a better way for welding the sump pan without it warping so much, but without being insanely time consuming. We will talk in the near future mate...........ding ding ding and bling bling bling....i like the sound of money.
