man its unbelievable how much people get charged to get stuff done....i rebuilt my whole rb25 with forged pistons 20 thou over, new bearings all throughout, recod head with new stem seals and cut the valves and seats, decked block, new welsch plugs and faced the head and i did pretty well most of it myself except the machining, oh a cometic mls gasket as well...i think i spent max 3k that included a few new lines and hoses. Was pissed that they didnt reassemble the head...i had to lap the valves in myself and reassemble it....and i lost a collet in the process. Workshop manual and a little time and you can save alot of money. However i wouldnt recommend it if your not confident in your mechanical ability. For the power output your looking at mate...all you need is what i did. Probably not even that. Dont waste your time on rods, if your going for 400rwhp, maybe put some arp studs or bolts in them, unless you can find a cheap set of gtr rods.

my rb25 acls with rings and gudgeon pins was under 1k delivered. Your rebuild will be purely based on your power goal. No need to put in whats not required. Other option your thinking of is hypertek pistons i believe.

Yo shane....friday is practice all day...sat is qualifying with afternoon racing and sunday is racing all day. One event saturday arvo roughly 2pm and sunday is 10am and 2pm i believe. sounds like fun. We will be out there for the sprints. What times you run around there now AMEC?
-
damnit...im really looking forward to meeting you and seeing your car. We will be out there also for the jdm class of the state championship series at QR.

why does the size matter? At full throttle can your car drain a 1l tank before it can contiually be topped up? Common surge tanks are only 1-2L. You start making them too big it will take longer to keep it filled and you might start suffering from surge in that one. Not only that, it will start taking up more space then you would like.

yes please....im very interested in your setup also. Please share every detail. Great power on such low boost. Top job mate. I love how the whole hotside is covered in that heat shield.....

2.4l v8 or 3l v10 isnt it? Or whats the exact details these days? Ok so it is just 2.4l v8's now....damn.

fairly confident they are metric fine. m10 X 1.25. Which is rather stupid in the case of alloy heads as it should be a coarse thread, so its less likely to strip out. Use a thread pitch guage and find out exactly incase there is doubt.

Pfitzner (ppg) Dog Boxes, Reliable?
r33_racer replied to Chris Wilson's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
and why not go the whole hog and get a holinger 6speed. Full dog box. -
work at good ole stoodleys hey? I work at retractable tarps at brendale. Incase you dont know we have supplied tarps to you guys and still do i believe. The welding on your bodies is good, very neat and tidy...however your bodies are annoying to fit tarps to. I aint got no photos with me atm of what ive welded haha.

Is Water/methanol Spray Better Than Fmic?
r33_racer replied to Taso84's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
haha whats it going to rust...head is alloy, pistons are alloy, and the heat will burn any rust off anything anyway. -
has it been tuned?

funny you should mention pine rivers bearings as thats where i was going to say to get them from....they supply us at work. But any bearing shop should be able to get you rose joints.

Why Would Someone Need A Oil Catch Can
r33_racer replied to Adz2332's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
oil in your intake charge can and will induce knock...more so then if it wasnt present. No oil in the intake is good....unless you have uncoated steel piping with rusty insides lol. -
Why Would Someone Need A Oil Catch Can
r33_racer replied to Adz2332's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
if you do any sort of track work you generally need to run a catch can. I believe anything over 2litre capacity is 3litre catch can. -
you only need pump fuel anyway...vpower racing being the best you can get. Race fuels are just way too exxy.

Is Water/methanol Spray Better Than Fmic?
r33_racer replied to Taso84's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeh dale ours is water/meth. My understanding was the water helps stabilise the fuel from preignition and the methanol helps remove alot of the heat out of the air charge as it evaporates whilst moving towards the inlet valves. So by the time it does reach the combustion chamber, its more water with a lil meth then the perfect 50/50 brew thats initially sprayed into the i/c pipe. And neill the kit we got from Full Throttle in Sydney i think have one way valves and solenoid kits for wastegate bypass and all sorts of little safety devices which you can incorporate into the kit to make it as safe as possible. The whole idea of water/meth injection as Rev210 said is as old as the hills...from around ww2 i believe, but making a reliable electronic kit with devices built in it that wont let it cause any engine damage if it does fail is whats so good about it these day. -

well the kit we use states that you need to lean out the mixtures by around 10% i think it says from memory. Apart from the kit, our tuner also stated that he had to lean it out as it was too rich and flat spotting if he didnt. -
haha...ahh shane and you nearly offered for us to do it in the qld rb30 thread....come in spinner R31Nismoid said hes been cleaning up the rb30 thread for ages and hes only upto page 60.....

Is Water/methanol Spray Better Than Fmic?
r33_racer replied to Taso84's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeh more then likely. But extra timing adds a bit of power. If your knock is a little high at that level then it will come in handy just for reducing knock. -

yeh thats why you hook up a pressure line to help atomise it. -
azzurra at the moment there isnt any real similar regs for the aasa stuff at qr.. Its not as strict as cams stuff. That may change as said previously in the future as its grows. The good thing about the aasa stuff is its more enthusiastic about japanese and turbocharged cars...where one day cams is all pro new stuff...then the old boys start losing so the next day they have a big cry and change the rules/regs...but then they lose the numbers and need to rechange it all cause old people die off...so it only leaves us new generation to continue it all. They gotta face the music at somestage. But yeh..if you run your rb20 then you will probably be up against 25, 26s and even 30dets and obviously other cars with similiar engine capacities.
