  1. thats a negative mate, still gonna try with the gt3582r...if nothing improves then i believe we will try the to4z.
  2. Like wise shane. Our 30dets can go head to head! An epic battle.
  3. shane your car is a never ending project. Its like that damn energizer bunny.
  4. ok scrap my first two questions then lol.
  5. excellent work geoff. Im keen to see it when its all done if its actually in brisbane at the moment? Or still down in mexico? Hey brad, i pressure tested the pipework earlier on in the week and found a pretty bad boost leak...it could explain something lol. I fabbed up a new turbo to i/c pipe so it seals better and flows better also. No more leaks now, however its gotta go back on the dyno to see if that was the power stealing problem. Good to hear you got your exhaust all sorted, im interested in what power you end up making when it gets tuned. Keep us filled in mate.
  6. Yeh ive been told the samething by other various shops also, that bigger and stickier tyres give a lower hp reading for whatever reason. Not only that but they also make a mess. We coated the backwall on the dyno one time with a set of full slicks...made a mess of the car also. After that they told us to use crappy small road tyres. However im curious to know why it is that way with bigger tyres if it actually is true.
  7. ahh okedoke...well blows my hopes away of a shoot out mode dyno run....but at least the power would have been close.
  8. our dyno is underrated by about 10% on average and doesnt run in shootout mode similar to matty's setup. I was looking forward to what power we would have made in shoot out mode, was hoping for a nicely inflated figure. Col what are the specs on your engine? so i can compare.
  9. sweet as....not bad hey for a 26. Well i was stuck at home re-fabricating new i/c piping to hopefully fix our boost leak instead of enjoying the action. Man if our car was sorted out, could have taken out 1st..somewhere between 370-400rwkw.
  10. sounds like it was a good day....out of curiosity who made the most power? and what was that figure?
  11. Yeh i was only taking the piss in what i originally said. But its strange how down south there you guys dont run into those problems...i dont know about nsw but it happens here. Doesnt just apply to gtr's either.
  12. daves on the money lol. Yeh we made new power steering reservior which holds about double std capacity. So we still fill it up the same, but it wont overflow.
  13. pfft you dont need catch cans at all! This is how you do it How neat and tidy is that?
  14. yeh i dont know anything either...i only race a lowly gtst...how could i or other like me compare to the godly gtr drivers. There arent too many quick ones up here..apart from Giant ofcourse.
  15. And anyone who knows anything will believe that except anyone in mexico....funny hey.
  16. or have this thread with concise and accurate information which answers all the important questions without all the crap.
  17. call kyle. He will help sort it out. We had the same problem with ours not long ago and also ages ago, we fixed it by going to a larger wastegate a 48mm progate ages ago. Then not so long ago we ended up mounting the wastegate right off the turbine housing and now it controls boost perfectly. Both times we changed things which affected the backpressure and had to do those fixes so boost control was capable. However old mate the mech eng here seems to know his stuff. Ive heard of his solution before as another way to resolve this problem. But it means you gotta take the mani off and stuff around.
  18. think your in the wrong section buddy...someone should move it soon enough.
  19. excellent 2c A...to4z ftw.
  20. tip a few litres of methanol in your tank
  21. Kastin is correct. Garrett has told me the same thing several times when selecting turbos. gt3582r .82 good for 400rwkws max...which is about 600-610bhp.
  22. Your problem is your trying to link Response & Big Power. They simply do not go together. Your either going to build a very quick car with excellent average power or your going to build a dyno queen with massive numbers but no useable power band. What do you want?
  23. however depending on wastegate size and if its close enough to whats needed for your choice of boost pressure, it may spike or play up and infact need to be swapped for a weaker one and use the ebc to bring the boost upto the desired level. But generally closest to desired pressure so less work for the ebc. Just outlining our experience in the past where we have had to do that with the weaker spring.
  24. Oil pressure sender feed. 'T' piece into that feed and run your line upto the fitting welded off the gallery, or if your running the std rb25 heat exchanger then you can run ops off that and your vct feed off the block. These should help. In the first motor we used the heat exchanger and ran std ops, mech gauge off that and vct off the block. New motor has std ops, vct and mech gauge all off a 'T' piece off block.
  25. unfortunately i need to pull out...the race car is not tuned and has problems which need to be sorted out. Will not get done intime, as were only getting it back from tuners today. I apologise for the late notice.
