Im not 100% sure if he does. I think i remember a thread from ages ago where he said he made his own dry sump setup from second hand bits for cheap which they ran on one of the cars. not sure if it was his or another one. Would be interesting if it was on one of the rb30dets. hopefully he will come and explain it to us
-
yup...but our car gets thrashed more then a street car would....all day at the track its at or near the max. Yeh we are actually, thats where im lost. I made sure we took almost every precaution available to make sure this wouldnt happen. Collar, everything balanced and ati damper. But we didnt loctite the backing plate bolts in or anything like that, we just bolted it up and left it assuming it was right from factory....so i think thats our mistake unless its a fault with the pump itself.

dunno how many k's exactly but its done about 7-8 race meets. id guess about 1000 to 1500k's maybe a tad more if you included dyno tuning.

I dont know at the moment....Depends on what caused it. But either a brand name one or perhaps a dry sump setup which would be nice. Saturday was the most expensive day of racing weve had so far haha.

We blew our rb30det Im pretty confident the n1 oil pump has either rattled apart or the gear has cracked. Will know later in the week when its all pulled down. Its a sad sad day, hopefully its not as bad as it sounds, but she is ceased up completely so im expecting it to be almost totally screwed.

I may not be able to make it as we blew the engine at saturday prac/sprints at qr. Hopefully will have it rebuilt in time for this, if not ill have to give my spot up
-
haha well our oil pump failed(assumed so far) and killed the motor. Such a bad day, first our new wheel alignment farked 2k worth of slicks on the front, chewed them right down to the canvas. Then the turbo blew, so I raced out to morningside and got another one, we fitted that and everything was ok but then the oil pressure started to drop and along the back straight it died completely. The engine was shut off asap, but it has ceased. So out it all comes this week for a rebuild. Not good at all, and because of the dramas i didnt get a go in the car But my old man managed a flat 60 when the car was running half descent before it shat itself completely.

R32 Gtr And Small Single Turbo (sst) Upgrade
r33_racer replied to Beer Baron's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Maybe i see the whole save the labour cost for other things....but then again im not as rich as others, so thats how i work. Plus im always keen for the experience, it can only help. -
sounds like your car is on drugs mate. Perhaps the rack is farked. Or something, maybe everything is massively out of alignment. Try another workshop and see what they think of it if the current place isnt doing much about it.

I believe the drivetrain loss is static and normally about 85hp. Drivetrain loss doesnt increase as engine power increases.

ahhhh why not just fit everything yourself and save the labour cost? Then its just dyno time. Am i the only one seeing that saving??? -

When would you see full boost with a to4z that dave is sporting? Did someone say he had a .6x rear? and what sort of power too? I have a t04z w/ .84rear i think it is sitting in a box at home waiting to replace the 3540...garden variety ofcourse...couldnt justify the extra 1800 bux on the HKS version. But im thinking the housing is too big for track car... -
Sounds like an air leak somewhere straight off. But airflow meter can cause similiar problems. Check its plugged in properly, or then check if its actually working properly.

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
r33_racer replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yes more then likely. The gear drive is probably like 20mm wide and your crank probably isnt. -
Suspension...camber, Pillow Tops...
r33_racer replied to monkeykplunk's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
g4 coilovers?? arent they chinese same as those brakes? Cant go wrong with SK's package. Bushes there for alignment, antiroll bars for body roll control and shocks and springs. The setup is good for street and good for track days. -
Thats a bugger mate. Hopefully you will be ready in time for the next lot of races. In regards to the speed, our factory speedo goes off the clock for quite sometime haha, but at a guess id say it would be that maybe a tad higher. Also we use a high energy circuit sump and it works great with built in baffles, one way doors and gates and an extended pick up.

Oil Control In Rb's For Circuit Drag Or Drift
r33_racer replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
we get the same lifter noise occassionally when the revs drop right down to a crazy low rpm, like 600 or less. But it clears when oil pressure returns to normal. So a lack of pressure will cause the lifters to tick abit. There might have been no problem with them originally, as in not bad enough to replace but its infact your oil pump that needs seeing to. Yes i think its pretty much a deadset certainty that you need the collar to avoid the oil pump cracking issue. -
Not to worry...CAMS will get alot better slowly as all the fogeys start moving on and the newer and younger folk start changing things for the better. Too many old people stuck with their old mind set and old old ways and dont want to change cause if it worked back in the 60's why change it now?

supercars running on 265s is a wank mate. The dunlop control tyre is a 280/680/R17 for all supercars(please note that they are a full slick too). Unless your referring to something other then the v8 supercars? In which if you are talking about your top end million dollar street supercars such as a lambo or ferrari then most of them have bigger tyres again. So Buntas answer is perfectly fine as wide tyres are infact not a wank

if your unlucky enough to not have pre entered there is always the practice session in the morning. Quite a few of the people who miss out on the sprints go in that...at least you get some track time even if its not proper racing or time trials. Side note, car came back from latest tune with a little more power...peaked out at 365rwkw...average it out to a good 350rwkw

funny you say that as we are competing in a cams event at qr over sat and sunday next weekend. This weekend is the sprints and top gear and next weekend is a national cams event at QR. Dont get CAMS and race tracks confused as to how they are affiliated.
