Engine Clutch Fan - Where To Get A New Clutch?
_Wing_ replied to _Wing_'s topic in General Maintenance
It only took about a month of going back and forth a million times to various places to finally get one that fits. None of them were in stock so you would have to go in, order it, pay a deposit, and then go back to get it, find out it doesn't fit, return it, get a refund and try again. Don't forget all the times of taking the fan off to do the install and then finding out it's the wrong one. I ended up trying out 4 different fan clutches, all different manufacturers, all in different shops, all specifying they fit Skyline R33 GTS-25T / RB25DET / 2.5L / TURBO. Prices were around $100 but it doesn't matter because it turns out that the one that fits is DAVIS CRAIG for around $200. Save your headaches and a million trips and get it. Anyways here's how the rest of them didn't fit - the holes wouldn't line up with the bolts, all were much worse than this pic in that the bolt centre's would be in line with the edge of the flange, so you couldn't even enlarge the hole to make it fit: And as you can expect, this is what the Davis Craig one looks like - lining up perfectly: I think it needs some breaking in because when I head off for work on cold starts the fan is on full blast, but after a little while it loosens up and then it's fine. Good luck with your fan clutches and hope that they don't seize on you -
I've got an R33 GTS-25T engine fan but the clutch hub keeps seizing on me. I've swapped it out for another one and after a few months the thing dies and locks again so the fan is on full blast 24/7.......... sounds like an old commo lol. I'm sick of changing it and wanted to get a new one from ni$an but they want ~$500. No thanks! Does anybody know where I can get an aftermarket replacement? It looks like this:

This is the #1 way to have the best intake setup, guaranteed maximum power, in racing it is known as a "ram air intake". It forces the freshest possible air into your engine whilst minimising the coefficient of drag. Win Win. It is a headlight replacement intake to suit the s15 or anybody with a s15-front conversion. Made from lightweight fibreglass it is a left and right pair, one side is intake the other is a lightweight replacement for the headlight. I only use the intake side with zipties and the fitment is not perfect but acceptable, I never use the drivers side. Also good for people not wanting to damage their expensive s15 headlights when racing. Notice that the funnel is very smooth, starting out 12 inches wide and gradually tapering down to 4 inches. The entrance of the funnel guides the air into the engine compartment right where your airfilter is. WILL NOT SEPARATE. price: $350 ========================================================================================= 4x R32 GTR wheels with tyres FORGED 3 wheels are in absolutely perfect condition inside and outside, they are just dirty, 1 has a rash which isn't bad in my opinion but I have taken a pic of so you can judge for yourself. Wow that good? Are they turning the same laptimes? -
Track Tires From Tyre Rack

Has anybody tried the federal semis? -
As far as I know a few of the ECU manufacturers do training days, possibly in WA. Their training is specific to their ECU and it is much like a lecture-style of teaching, much like uni lectures - You sit down and listen in a large group, get taught a set course and there may be an opportunity to ask questions or talk to the teacher. What's done here is completely the opposite - you tell us what you want to learn, you get taught via a mix of theory and practical, you have all day to ask questions and you also actually go and use the dyno. So it depends on what you want really. At Unigroup Engineering, the head tuner is a university degree certified mechanical engineer who is truly passionate about engine design and tuning, so much and so good that he was invited by the university of technology, sydney, to speak on the very subject. He actually does know what he's talking about both from experience and from an engineering perspective. I don't know of any other tuner at this level.

Quicker Steering For Skylines?
_Wing_ replied to PM-R33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah they're the rack bushings that hold the rack in place, I'll get some of those soon. With alignment, if your car is track only then anything goes, if your car is street then too much toe/camber/caster absolutely eats tyres in a matter of weeks. I did check out some steering quickeners, but they're all universal and difficult to install which requires cutting and welding, and cu/shut anything in suspension (or brakes) is a big no-no, and very hard to get engineered (IE be safe). -
Brake Reduction/shaving
_Wing_ replied to fattox33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You can shave the lettering, but you'll only get an extra 2mm of clearance/2mm of dish.... I wouldn't image that would make a difference especially if you're adding +60mm guards? -
Quicker Steering For Skylines?
_Wing_ replied to PM-R33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I feel the same way with the steering and have asked the question, apparantly s13's? have a better ratio but in terms of making it work there was not much info. I've driven an s13 and the ratio is not as good as when I drive the evo around. I'm really interested to find out, keep me updated on what you find... -
Good to see you guys got alot out of it

Thanks for your feedback it'll be taken on board.

What Skyline Has The 'pull' Type Clutch Master?
_Wing_ replied to PRIMRK's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Only the R34s are pull type, what kind of motor and box are you putting into it? -
1 spot remaining for jan 30th

The next available session is on Jan 30th, 2011. It's confirmed and locked in and there's only 2 places left so get registering today

Thanks for a great day guys! I always learn something new and it looks like you guys got what you wanted out of it with all your questions answered A participant said that he was more interested in tuning theory, how an internal combustion engine works on a detailed engineering level, and how not to get fed BS/ripped off by dubious workshops. Even without the dyno tuning training it was well worth the knowledge gained from the day. I agree. We had guys traveling from as far as the central coast and Canberra to attend but I think WA is a wee bit far lol Something that may interest people is that Yavuz (head of Unigroup Engineering) is a university degree-certified mechanical engineer, specialising in chassis dyno tuning. He was also recently invited by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to present and discuss in nitty gritty engineering detail regarding engine design/tuning, so hats off to him

I had a great time, didn't get a chance to thank everybody because of the rain but thank you to the organisers and volunteers!!! And was great to meet a bunch of nice people too

I remember I had to drive all the way through the tafe to the back, but dunno where the tafe actually is... What's the address again?
-
Payment paid and fax faxed
-
One more Q before I enter, it's about passengers being free, do passengers have to have a AASA/CAMS licence as well? Or is it just appropriate clothing + helemt?
-
Any spots left?

The "advanced" course is for those that have previously attended whereas this one here is for everybody that has never been before. There is a number of people that have registered that have done some type of tuning before so you'll probably fit right in with them. There's feedback on this link (down the right hand side): http://www.ao-ps.com/dynotuningsessions.html Here is the forum link to the previous session with feedback from the participants: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ha...ce-t308456.html
